Its all about the luck. You can wait for months and get nothing.

I'm even starting to question why I collect anymore. At first it was fun..but now? Its like a chore...and it shouldn't be. But my collection is over 99% complete, and frankly I just feel obligated to follow it through now. sigh.

Oh dude I feel your pain, I really really really do, as I am sure a lot of posters here do. I emailed Hasbro a while back telling them about the lack of new product around my area and they said:

Tyler,

Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc. regarding the availability of Marvel figures.

We are sorry for the difficulty you have had in obtaining certain products in your area. We strive to produce items to a volume that matches their national popularity. Our manufacturing process allows for all items to be shipped in assortments only.

We hope you understand that we have no control of the inventory once it is shipped to the retailers and the products are only shipped when the retailers order them. However, we are as concerned as you are about this situation. Please be assured that your comments have been shared with our Marketing and Sales Departments so that they are also aware of your concern.

We thank you for taking the time to contact us and sharing your observations.

ASSORTMENTS ONLY?! Come on now Hasbro, you can do better than that.

They don't really have a choice about the assortments.

Assortment essentially means cases. Which is how retailers order them, by the case. Hasbro doesn't ship single figures to retailers. That's why they keep doing revision cases to add the high demand figures.

Maybe I miss understood what they meant. I know they can't ship single figures, that's just silly. What I thought they where saying is they dont ship by waves, just toss in some new figures and random figures to fill up the box.

My mistake.

Assortment = Mixture

I seem to live in the land where no one cares about toys. I usually get first dibs on things that are put out at stores by sheer luck or my friends who work in retail. I've never had a MU figure that I haven't paid retail for. The only one that I thought I was going to have to shell out a lot of money for was the phazing Vision variant, but I walked into a Target at about 5 p.m. and got him just chilling on the racks. I just found all the new 2 packs, wave 13, and cap waves 1/2. /End Bragging

But sooner or later, I'll actually start a thread on here for trades. I do more trades on HISS tank though.

My mistake.

Hasbro does organize the case assortments by wave (it's usually printed on the box), but the larger retailers don't really pay that much attention to which wave they order. They really only pay attention to the number of cases versus current stock and recent sales figures.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you might have more of an issue with Hasbro's choices regarding their case ratios (i.e. how many of each toy in the wave is in a case).

As Hasbro said in their response, the case ratio is determined by popularity on a national scale (i.e. who will sell the most overall, not just in certain areas of the country).

It's short for Case Assortment.
So yes, Case = Assortment in this instance.

We just use the front word case to describe it, whereas they use the backend word assortment.

It doesn't mean they are just tossing in random figures. It's the same as revision cases and so on that stores recieve. Stores don't just get randomly packed case assortments.

Theta Rock 05-27-2011 07:28 PM

Patience paid off for me today. Usually if I wait long enough, my best friend will find figures I need and mail them to me.

I went to Wal-Mart tonight and found Apocalypse lying under a "Thor Shield" all by himself. It was the only one of the new wave. Now I don't have to have someone send it to me. I actually went in thinking I wasn't going to find anything.

Dude, good find! A few days a go I FINALLY found Taskmaster and Deadpool. Life is good when it goes my way :P

Oh yeah, he's definitely going in the front row of the collection. Him, Juggernaut and Thanos, all look fantastic, but he's my fave for now.

Static22 05-27-2011 11:03 PM

Yeah, it's not really like this in my area. The new stuff comes and disappears off shelves and pegs as soon as the store opens. If for whatever reason (school, work, etc.), you can't be there at 9 AM, no amount of patience is going to help you find in-demand figures at retail.

Now, if you're talking about patience for the figures to show up on HTS.com or TRU.com or go down in price on eBay, then that applies to me.

I agree with this post. Big time, it's so hard to find stuff and no amount of patience is going to make any one figure less rare. Short packed is short packed.

AndyCR75 05-29-2011 11:19 AM

Alas! At retail!!!

TRU. North Atlanta. This is where that thin line of risk/reward comes in to play. Took the corner in the aisle per usual expecting the usual letdown, but not last night. I was like a pig in sh*t!

AndyCR75 05-29-2011 11:43 AM

Had to be a dozen of these, 1 variant.

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...Ins/photo2.jpg

Half dozen or so of the new 2packs..rang up at 17.99 apiece, but on 15.99 pegs? wth!

Tiberius 05-29-2011 12:35 PM

Went to semi-mine TRU. 8 variants out of 8 giant size xmen packs. 30% off and I STILL couldn't find the urge to buy it...

^This leads right into a point I was about to make.

No one here should ever have to submit to scalpers. Here lies a community of collectors, most vigilant in hunting for new products. If we would just open up to each other more, each of our collections could expand easier than we think. For example; I've had a MOC Archangel for weeks. Anyone that needs it should feel free to pm me. Hopefully, they've come across an extra" Crossbones or Cable. :) If not, we could still work something out.

And to Tiberius, with 30% off of 8 GSXM pks, you could've gained friends and profit with that deal. If not, you still have your receipt...

THIS.
I agree with this 1000%! I have gotten a super hook up from several guuys here and have been made very welcome since joining a couple of months back- we can all look out for each other and skip ebay for most everything.

30% off is huge! My TRS never ever discounts anything! I mean, they just recently clearanced out their dusty Terminator 3 figures (which had two great buys for me) after the figs had gathered dust for a year or more.

DUDE! THere's TWO cales and a Cyclops on pegs in that pic! HOOK A BROTHER UP!

Oh. Well...give us you exact address and we'l...er...come by and "visit" you.;)

Hmmm...trade you for a red Hand Ninja? Ebay says it's "rare" so it must be valuble, right? Prahaps a super rare variant Star Wars figure in a MU box?
Those are going for big bucks at auction.

Tell you what. Find me a Boba Fett MOC in Tron packaging and we got a deal. :D

Tiberius 05-29-2011 06:12 PM

Remember lads, its 45 bucks in Canada, so it was pretty much down to regular american prices.

ALSO, Gas costs to much to be running around up and down the island to buy something for trading or to buy something and end up driving all the way back too. All we have here are variants, and more keep on coming and coming anyways.

PPS. If some one really wants it, I may go back up and see if any are there for some good/fair trades.
