AndyCR75 06-16-2011 12:03 PM

I'd hire the creative staffs from NECA and McFarlane. Well priced and superbly articulated.

First off, I'm creating a new line of toys. 6", fully articulated. Brand new molds and sculpts, no repaints, no gimmicks. We're gonna get the heavy hitters in the Marvel universe their own line of proper toys. Repaints will be available online only at a premium price.

Wave 1: Avengers
- Iron Man
- Captain America
- The Incredible Hulk
- Thor

Wave 2: Spider-Man
- Spider-Man
- Venom
- Doctor Octopus
- Green Goblin

Wave 3: X-Men
- Cyclops
- Storm
- Wolverine
- Jean Grey

Wave 4: Fantastic Four
- The Thing
- Mr. Fantastic
- Human Torch
- Invisible Woman

Wave 5: Villains
- Apocalypse
- Magneto
- Dr. Doom
- Loki

Wave 6: X-Men 2
- Iceman
- Beast
- Colossus
- Gambit

Wave 7: Avengers 2
- Hawkeye
- Nick Fury
- Hank Pym
- The Wasp

Wave 8: Spider-Man 2
- Carnage
- Mysterio
- The Lizard
- Scorpion

Wave 9: Various
- Daredevil
- Punisher
- Deadpool
- Black Panther

Wave 10: Various 2
- Ghost Rider
- Silver Surfer
- Thanos
- Luke Cage

I'm releasing these at a rate of one wave a month in limited quantities to retail.

I'm continuing the 3.5" series and using it for minor characters, repaints, etc.

I'm keeping the movie toy lines short and sweet. If it appears on screen, it gets a toy. No endless repaints.

I like your ideas they stick with a theme & they hit the sweet spot on the fans of the characters

As for me I would just have it simply in this format: (see MU Cable, Colossus, Apucalypse, Bleeding Edge IM, Scarlet Spider, X-23 & Modern Thor) why these guys? cause they all have the perfect bases for every character especially the two members of the Summers family.

Packs

ASX: Wolverine (Masked/ Unmasked) , Kitty Pryde (With magnetic body parts to give off an illusion of her phasing through), Beast ("X" shorts/ modern suit), Emma Frost (Normal/Diamond), Cyclops (ASX/Modern)

New Avengers: Luke Cage, Iron Fist (White Costume), Dr. Strange, Wolverine (Current Costume)

Avengers: Ant Man (with removeable helmet), Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver (green costume), Wasp (Original Costume/Last Costume), Hank pym (giant man/ Wasp)

Future Foundation: Mr, Fantastic (with hammer fist, stretched arms, ball & trampoline), Invisible Woman (normal/invisible), Thing, Franklin, Valeria, Spiderman

Shadowland: Hand Ninjas, Daredevil, Spiderman (Big time green/orange), Iron Fist, Moonknight, Elektra, Snakeroot, Lady Bullseye (just to throw her in)

Sinister 6: anybody who was in the damn group lol

Let's all hope that the Hasbro team is reading this thread.

For my 6" Dream line, I wanted to do definitive versions of classic Marvel characters that are fan favorites and guaranteed to sell, while minimizing the amount of crap like repaints and minor characters that appear to break up the waves.

Amalberga81 06-17-2011 07:57 PM

if im running hasbro, i will make a good development for Marvel Legends line and Universe. Also make the rest like might muggs and super hero squad more improvement. NO MORE REPAINT figures, NO MORE RE-ISSUE figures, NO MORE DOUBLE or Figures release again and again, example just one version of the characters and release the same characters with very different outlooks (such there's change of his appearance or costume base on comics). Also make a very good distribution and make sure all fans and buyer receive the same stock like origin (i mean, when One country get 1000 pcs of new figures, that will be the same with other country so all of us can enjoy it the figures without complaint "in my country still see that figures, etc"

neatogecko 06-17-2011 09:14 PM

As I was looking at some of the new wave of POC GI Joes today, I couldn't help but think "Holy crap. Perfect paint aps. Awesome sculpts. An absolute ton of great accessories with each figure. And cheaper price point to boot. Why in the world can't the MU team recruit away at least one or two of the Joe design team?"

That's the first thing I would change if I became the new Evil Hasbro Overlord. Force every other design and production team to take a few lessons from the Joe team.

Exactly what I ws saying- the Joe figs are INCREDIBLE for the same price point as MU and come with a ton of stuff.
I bought a Beachhead and snake Eyes and outfitted all six my SHIELD guys with guns, binoculars, knives, etc.

Note: those Joe vest things always have binoculars or a knife or gun that easily pops off and can be glued onto a HYDRA, AIM or SHIELD soldier to make that fig a unique badass among his peers!

Which brings me to an Accesory Pack- guns, a bow and arrows, jetpack and Skycycle. And super shackles (the kind that dampen powers and cover the hands)- like three pairs of those.
We'd all be scrambling to buy more Guardsmen figures then- taking away defeated villians in shackles...

Secret Invason send away- just a Skrull soldier and six extra heads of various MU characters with skrull features- Spider Woman in particular- to re-enact that event.

I'm trying to keep my ideas cheap for Hasbro to make.

I'd also make box sets of crossovers with a comic in them- a Marauders box set in particular would be incredible. An Alpha Flight set is a must.

I totally agree there needs to be more articulation of the feamles- arm swivels at minimum!

Ash from Carolina 06-18-2011 09:13 AM

I'd try to make it even easier for kids and collectors to complete teams. Marvel has so many great hero and villain teams that tapping into that got to have the whole team mentality seems like a way to move some figures. Really shouldn't take years just to have the Fantastic Four or a Brother Hood of Evil Mutants.

More villain releases. Yes kids and parents like heroes but those heroes need someone to beat the snot out of. Plus Marvel has so many visually appealing villains that might make for eye catching toys.

Find the person who thought Spiderman figures with no articulation was a great idea kick their rolling chair and yell "THIS IS HASBRO!" like the movie 300. Lack of articulation is for a second rate place like Mattel, Hasbro needs to keep the edge in articulation. And by all that is comic book geeky Spiderman has one of the best rouges galleries out there so make some of those cool villains.

afgoosett 06-18-2011 02:50 PM

Simple really

Comic book accurate modern renditions of the characters released with classic variants. I for one am very disappointed with a line so saturated in Wolverines there has yet to been a version of him in his current costume released.

Then I would go back and re-do popular characters from the older lines that sold well but still had horrible bucks and I'd use the newer improved bucks for a better rendition of characters.

vehicles: quincarrier with sharon carter and commander rogers figures, quinjet with random avengers figure, helicarrier with a proper nick fury and maria hill, e.v.a with fantomex and x-force psylocke, the blackbird with guess what A MODERN WOLVERINE AND CYCLOPS.

playsets: avengers mansion with jarvis or maybe vision because really a jarvis figure isn't gonna sell to well to the kiddies, avengers tower with noh varr, s.w.o.r.d space station with beast, danger room with maybe two or three x-men figures.

I don't know I might be aiming too high but I'd sure as fuck try to make this if I had control over the marvel division.

tlasjr 06-18-2011 06:43 PM

First combine the 3 3/4" design teams for Joes, Marvel and Star Wars. Cut expenses and design time by standardizing bucks across all three lines. Also meaning quality is consistent.

Charecter wise release any charecter (Prof x) in a suit. You're killing me here. Norman Osborne, Tony Stark, Agent Colson, Dr. Conors, sebastian shaw. Why is it so hard to make a suited torso?

trebleshot 06-21-2011 05:34 AM

Because kids don't like to play with "action figures" in 3-piece suits?

....or was that a rhetorical question? ;)

Redlantern161 06-21-2011 10:51 AM

They should release Shaw with a suit & a variant with ripped clothing or just with no shirt

I was trying to think of a fun way to release a Shaw figure, but couldn't think of one that isn't plain looking. Kids probably wouldn't give a shit about it, but I'd buy a movie Shaw where he's wearing some sort of leisure suit and Magnetos pre-purple helmet. I'm sure some of you comic buffs can come up with a more interesting Shaw figure than that, but that's one small thing I'd do if I was ruler of Hasbro.

Captain Nash 06-23-2011 09:12 PM

If I ran Hasbro I'd make sure Marvel Universe had two distinct forms of distribution - A) brick and mortar waves that are more geared toward the general public, much like they are now, for a $8 price point per figure. I would put out six waves a year. B) collector's waves that are geared towards online distribution with figures that would appeal to the collector for about $12 per figure. I'd put out four waves a year.

For purpose of the thread I'll mainly ignore what would be in the general public waves, but I'd be sure to throw in plenty of repaints, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Hulk and Thor figures so that they "sell"....please note sarcasm. I would no doubt make sure that at least one of these six figures got into each wave, somehow.

First thing I would do for the collectors waves though is pay attention to what people are wanting - we collectors want more female characters, we want more villains, we want more obscure characters. Sometimes the rare repaint might show up but I would likely never have the "big six" (from above" in any of the waves.

So for the first three years of collectors waves:

Wave 1: make it all about the ladies! Rogue, Scarlet Witch, She-Hulk, Wasp, Psylocke, Emma Frost.

Wave 2: Villains part 1: Mr. Sinister, Count Nefaria, Selene, Madam Masque, Hood, Kang, Grim Reaper

Wave 3: Heroes: Justice, Beast, Forge, Polaris, Black Knight, Sersi

Wave 4: Villains Part 2: Dr. Octopus, Deathbird, Deathstrike, Viper, Graviton, Omega Red.

Year 2:

Wave 1: Thunderbolts: Songbird, Fixer, Citizen V, Moonstone, Mach IV, Baron Zemo

Wave 2: Villains part 3: Abomination, Shadow King, Titania, Sebastian Shaw, Morgan Le Fay, Attuma

Wave 3: New Mutants: Cannonball, Magik, Moonstone, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Rictor

Wave 4: Heroes and Villains: Nova, Tigra, Pulsar, Quasar, Mandarin, Exodus

Year 3:

Wave 1: X-Men Heroes/Villains: Callisto, Marrow, Domino, Bishop, Nimrod, Bastion

Wave 2: Avengers Classics/Foes: Hercules, Swordsman, Ant-Man, Korvac, Blastaar, Super Skrull

Wave 3: "Big Three" Villians: Superia, Flag Smasher, Sin, Krule, Living Laser, Whiplash

Wave 4: Spider-Man oriented wave: Black Cat, Lizard, Aunt May, Mysterio, Jonah J. Jameson, Carnage.

edit: for year 4 I'm not sure on the other waves but I would make sure one wave went out with Alpha Flight: NOrthstar, Aurora, Snowbird, Shaman, Sasquatch, Guardian, and Puck (I know, that's seven but let's just do it.!) end edit.

Sorry to be so lengthy but let's be honest, Hasbro isn't going to change their game plan for the brick and mortar stores. The only way we're going to see half the figures above is if we're willing to pay those higher prices for what would be smaller distribution numbers and online ordering. Hasbro would need to definitely figure out how much is a good number so they don't have too much outside of the range of supply and demand.

DogFashionDisco 06-23-2011 09:44 PM

The Shaw figure is a solid idea, but again, the X-Men First Class movie was cut out of the action figure line up all together. I also wanted Azazel because that character is so obscure and wouldn't surface as a toy without this movie, and the style is pretty awesome, but it appears that the characters done justice by the movie depiction (lets not get into the whole Darwin discussion, because he obviously was done a disservice) will never see the light of day. That said, Hasbro dropped the ball big time.

iLegends73 06-24-2011 02:08 AM

first thing i would do is kill off the spiderman line and send out buy 1 get 2 free on ALL IM2 movie figs to every retailer just to clean the pegs. then bring back the legends but with a twist. since hasbro kept most (if not ALL) the molds from toybiz, i would do a Marvel Legends Classics line. all the origin figures from the previous waves along with fan faves and fans choice. now the twist would be to give a few of them repaints and extra stuff like more weapons or any little tweks to the figure itself making a more modern verison. -Example- punisher. take a punisher single card same paint, and give him more guns and a trunk or fence to place em. now you would say:

"i already have a punisher, why get another one?"
because thats where the magic of the BAF's come in my friend. 6 figures in a wave to make up a franken castle. a little bigger then ares of course lol
1)make fans/collectors happy with figures they might have missed
2)clash modern with classic colors and extra peices
3)no more IM2 or spiderman waves lol

done & done

Aheld92 06-27-2011 09:25 PM

i would drop the Iron-man and spider-man lines and have and X-men line to run alongside MU then that leaves room in MU for more obscure characters.

Each wave for both lines would have 5 figures: 2 females, 1 villain, 1 totally obscure character and 1 A-list variant (could mix and match to have female a-lister, obscure villain, or female villain ect.) each wave would also have a deluxe figure for example Ghost Rider w/Hellcycle, or Fantomex w/E.V.A

I'd have 2 Team Six packs a year and a couple waves of 3 packs

Comic packs would continue, each wave would consist of three 2-packs all based on a similar them such as House of M, Civil War or Infinity Gauntlet, the x-men line would also receive comic packs based on Events like Second coming, Inferno, of Dark Phoenix Saga

I'd have two Big vehicles (avengers quinjet, Blackbird ect) and couple smaller vehicles (motorcycles, cars, boats lol)

and I'd be constantly reading online wishlist and have polls to decided what figures were made.

Polaris, dazzler, scarlet witch, rogue, and Psylocke would all be made in the first year lol

Tiberius 06-27-2011 09:38 PM

For me it would be simple. Have more up to date with current comic events. Also get some sort of barcode deal to get a free comic with so many barcodes from figures. Would be a nice change I would think.

Phantasm88 06-29-2011 05:51 PM

I just want Young Avengers. I just want them.

Give me a team pack with Patriot, Wiccan, Hulkling, and Hawkeye
Large figure pack with Stature and Vision. Speed and Iron Lad have to find a home somewhere too.

I think these team packs coming out are pretty brilliant, but they have to be forward looking. Future Foundation is a great idea. X-Factor could be great here too. Madrox, Strong Guy, Shatterstar, Richter. Nom. YA works good with this marketing too.
Theme three packs could be great too. House of M Mags, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver could be fun.

I need me original Quasar too, but not if he's on the scrawny buck.

Beyond that pegs need to be filled with some more variety, and I don't know a ton about marketing but I do know that I already dropped this line once because I couldn't find anything. What do I change? I reckon the distribution to keep collectors (even the casual ones) interested.

Create EVERY Marvel Universe character known to mankind. 3.75 scale of course. Steal a page from Mcfarlane Toys, release superchase variants in limited numbers....this will allows Hasbro to keep the 3.75 MU line to THRIVE.
