WHY Hasbro and Marvel???

I want to start off by saying that I really like the MU line for the most part but I have a few complaints. The first is scale, why is it that black costume Spiderman is so much taller than all the other standard sized figures? He towers Dare devil who should be taller than Spiderman. This scale problem can be seen all through out the MU line. Second the lack of accessories and alternate body parts. These figures are way overpriced considering how small and overused the sculpts are. Why cant they include unmasked heads or other accessories to help these figures pop? Plus why do they have 3 of the same Spiderman figures out already? Now with the two and three packs you have to by 3 overpriced figures to get the one you don't already have. When I buy the Magneto and Spiderman 2 pack just for Magneto because I already have that Spiderman I have to spend more than twice as much... Thanks Hasbro and Marvel!!! Remember what you got with ML, basses to pose your figure on well articulated sculpts accessories a comic book and a piece of a build a figure set. think of all that and now for just a couple of dollars less we get the same sculpts over and over with nothing else. They are ripping us of and they just keep pushing it further. They also supplement the line with old GI Joe accessories. Hasbro basically came up with a plan to lower cost by up to 3/4 and screw us in the process. I love the idea of a Marvel 3 3/4 line but they have taken our longtime wish and used it to line there pockets. Less plastic, less paint, less sculpts, less time in development, less cardboard, less shipping, and you can fit a lot more on the sales pegs.

With all that said I just want to make it clear that the line is a great idea WE just have to keep them honest by not just taking it. We are the fans we are the ones keeping these guys in bussines lets tell them we expect more for our time, money, and devotion. Better quality, less repeats, and more love for us their customers.

And what's up with having to get a subscription just to get the Nick Fury figure? BULL!!!!

Or at least wait a wave or two before releasing a similar mold/paint app. I know from experience that with favorites like Spidey and Iron Man that if a collector is late to jump onboard or a new collector they will want such characters. or if they're a kid and tear up one of their favs, BUT at least for the loyal collectors who have been around for awhile or since the beginning, space out the reissuing of the same molds/paint apps.

What ever happened to the SDCC MU on display like jean grey where do we get them or were they ONLY SDCC

Prem1x 07-30-2009 05:01 PM

You might see Jean Grey by Christmas http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Universe_(toyline)

I don't think we've gotten any official dates on her.

I have to a agree with alot of the complaints of the flood of Spider-Man and Iron Man we are seeing. I've got too many of each already, esp when the SW and Gigantic packs get in my hands.

I'm going to have to pass on this Silver Centurion, I feel. I saw the IM Armored Adventures version of the Silver Centurion tonight and I really liked it. At least it was labeled as Silver Centurion unlike the MU wave 5 which just says Iron Man. It was the same price $7.99 as the MU stuff but I really liked the sculpt and paint. If it had elbows and knees or was $200 cheaper it would be mine. I will just wait and see if the IM2 movie line produces a good Silver Centurion.

I believe Jean Grey is part of the 1st wave of MU in 2010.

Electro's nice

I may be reading something into nothing but has anyone else noticed that in the packaged pics that none of the figures include the Fury File envelopes? Maybe these are early pics or something but I wondered if maybe Hasbro is going to phase out that part of the line since I know I've had my Wave 4 ones open for weeks now only to go in and find broken links with no "letters" about the characters. I mean it's not that big of a deal I collect the figures for them but the little extra of the files is kinda fun to read. Anybody else got an idea as to what's up with that?

Someone at Hisstank posted in-package pics of Guardian and Electro. They both have the Fury files envolope.

Great Question, went looking today for them and the SW packs but all I found was the Nemesis and Ares waves of Legends.

Oh thanks! I wasn't sure because they had that figure next to wave 5 at SDCC. They need better Reps there at the con. I could out pose all of those guys!! For I am the Pose Master General.

Has anyone seen any of the Wave 5 figures in stores yet?

I saw some of wave 5 today at my local comic book shop. They had 2 black/red spidey and 2 IM silver centurion. Too bad they were selling each for $12.99. They also had a wave 1 silver surfer and red dare devil and a couple of the SW packs (all 3 sets).

So im guessing bigger retailers like target or walmart could be getting them in pretty soon. imma check out TRU tomorrow since they get shipment in and let you guys know.

Greenskar 08-05-2009 04:47 PM

WTF? I hate the stupid comic book store guy near me. His store wont carry them because he thinks they're crappy figures. He says he'll only carry the Marvel Select and Marvel Legends figures because MU is too mainstream...then after that the real truth came out and he says "besides, hasbro only gives me the crappy leftovers anyway"

I recently asked a LCS owner the same thing, and like the guy you talked to, he said it was too "main stream." He also said he couldn't compete with prices at Walmart and TRU, so he figures they'll just sit on the shelves. He ends up carrying stuff the regular stores won't carry, which I can understand. I've seen MU figures in other comic shops and they go for anything between $14.99 to $19.99 canadian (TRU's sell for $10.99 currently, and Walmart for a dollar less I think). I recently had to bite the bullet and buy a Bullseye at the $14.99 price cause I have never seen him at Walmart or TRU and he's all sold out through online retailers.

Greenskar 08-05-2009 10:13 PM

what you paid for Bullseye makes me sad. I got mine from the only vendor @ comic con who had one and he charged me $40.00 for him. The most expensive MU figure I own. Before him, I never paid more than $11 for any one figure in this line and I have everything from the first four waves except Regular Johnny Storm,Iron Fist and both Ms Marvels...oh yeah and Grey Hulk, which is also getting expensive.

Wow, someone sounds bitter. Poor guy, doesn't know the sales he's missing.

Oh it gets better. I left out the part where I told him that I collect some of the MS figures because I like the detail, but don't like the limited articulation and how I've been waiting for a 3.75" scale marvel toyline for a long time and how I was impressed with the articulation and sculpts of many of the figures. This was his response:

"Yeah, well...unless you're going to do stop motion there's really no need for that much articulation. I go for detail over articulation any day of the week"

Just sell busts and dioramas then jackass and just tell me you don't carry the toyline without being a killjoy.

Snowflakian 08-06-2009 12:39 AM

Soon yay!

I needs to find me a guardian and Namor.
And yeah figures are better than statues any day. Simply because when you finally get tired of that statue, you can't change its position.

Ballsdeep212 08-06-2009 03:51 PM

So you have seen a few of these out already ? Damn , I havent seen em anywhere yet , I will have to swing by Target and Tru tomorrow while Im @ work , See if anything has come in yet !

Greenskar 08-06-2009 11:37 PM

Quick question for anyone who still has a MOSC Wave 1 Wolverine. Does his right bicep have the vein facing toward the bottom or top? I'm trying to figure out if I have a defective figure or if they just packaged him with his arm tweaked the wrong. I'd open him but I'm keeping them all MOSC and don't have an extra or see him on shelves anywhere anymore :(
