I wish the MU version was a little more mechanical looking, but it is still a pretty cool addition to the line. I would definitely pick a few of these up if I could get my hands on the traditional colors like the SDCC exclusive blister card one:

Is it actually confirmed that we definitely will not be getting the classic coloured Sentinel in stores? Has anyone asked Hasbro or is it just the Giant Blister Pack that's exclusive to SDCC? I mean it just seems like a really stupid idea to make a colour variant that nobody wants and making it the only one we can buy in stores. Just seems mean, actually.

Agreed!!

LOL, just watch, the new Hulk is an SDCC exclusive. The retail version will be available in comic inaccurate pink skin instead with interchangable hand clutching a giant baby bottle filled with gamma irradiated milk in the spirit of Thanos' Infinite Gauntlet.

Damn. Seriously. I'd have 4 of those Blue/Purp Sentinels if they hit TRU. Anytime I had a fresh paycheck and nothing else to buy at TRU; boom. 'Notha Sentinel.

Well...I'll be damned! I knew I'd seen that Sentinel design before!
It's the Sentinel Squad O.N.E. manned Sentinel design! Sorta a Gundam Sentinel piloted by SHIELD agents and led by Jim Rhodes- making the Sentinels manned prevented the XMen from destroying them (as it could kill the pilots and the pilots were tasked with protecting the mutants at Xavier's school (while confining them to the campus). http://cache2.artprintimages.com/p/L...p-sentinel.jpg |
I got my Sentinel today and decided to write my little hands-on(though english is not my native language, so get ready for some engerish, including bad grammer). Also, the first 2 paragraphs are a little preview. Just to let you know.
First of all, although i never completed him personally, i got a chance to see and fiddle with the BAF ML version. And TBH i never liked it. I was a little bothered by the exposed parts and weathered painting. I love battle damaged, but for some reason the rusty feel was a turn down for me. That said, i really like the Sentinel charected, and I'm very pleased with my MU Galactus. 2 things bothered me:A) though marked at the same price, there was a bit of size diffrence between the 2. Which made me hope that they will throw another small x-men to even the odds. They didn't. And the extra AF we were about to get was going to be Wolverine, yet another one. Considering that Strom,Nightcrawler, Iceman,Beast or even Magneto haven't come out yet in single packs, i was really hoping for someone special. and B) is way more annoying. The classic traditional colours were going to be SDCC exlusive, while the retail version got the variant colours. So i was still waiting for him, but was also a bit dissapointed even before i got my hands on the figure. So how did it all turned out? Packaging: The actual packaging is even better than Galactus. That includes the art itself, as in the fact that the window continues the diorama-like box. Giving it a storyboard feel. The sides all show Sentinel(s) all in diffrent poses, including one holding Cyclops while he's shooting him. All in all, awsome package. Those who buy the retail figure and just want to display it MISB won't be dissapointed. Extras: Remember how i mentioned that, even though they were in noticebly diffrent sizes,we only got 1 extra MU? Well, the new SHIELD line also took down the Top Secret file and card. So the only extra is Wolverine. This is the exact same Wolverine from the 6 pack that came out a while back. The mold is based on the XMO Wolverine instead of the MU one, which is a great choice IMO, cause the MU was never in the right scale for some reason, while this one is. Mine got some iffy paint apps on the head and for some reason the right "mask flap" is bigger than the left one... Also, his shoulder pads are way too big. No idea why. Sentinel: I'll start with the bad, cause I'm a negative kind of guy :P The worst, IMO, is the fact that the arms and handpalms are just repaints of Galactus. Was it so hard to use new molds? sure, the paint apps cover this a little, but still. It's a 55$ toy that comes out once a year(so far..), you can put some more effort to it! Also, there are more rubber parts. The entire chest armor and shoulder pads are rubber, which makes you wonder if they will ever use this body type again soon. The chest piece with the button in the middle isn't coloured orange, it's just a sticker. Again, i find it kind of lazy. Again, it's a 55$ figure, you can add a little more paint apps to it. Now for the good stuff: The paint has grown on me quicker than i thought. It actually covers the Galactus parts it reuses. The armbands with wiring also helps a little. The voicechip is great on this one. Again, many good phrases, including "destroy" and another one with shooting sounds while humanoids scream. The lower part(waist down) has great articulation. There is waist articulation and the legs have the exact same points as the smaller XMO Wolverine! So you can pose him into an action pose very easly. This figure comes with a Wolverine, so they sculpted some slash marks on Sentinel's shoulder pads. Also the number 14 on his left shoulder pad. Very nice details. Overall my final thougts are very positive on this one, if i was to grade it, it would be between 7.5 to 9. Closer to an 8. |
Good review and no problem understanding your English. Your review was written better than most forum members on here who are American and speak English, :) :) :).
I was kinda disappointed about the hands also from the pictures that i've seen. Damn, where are the freakin individual fingers? |
Will be ordering this as soon as I can.

Great review- needs pics though!

There are pics 1st page :)

Hmm well I'm gonna see to it I nab this one before any other MU figures that come out around that time. Sucks they don't have the finger Articulation for the ability to hold an X Men member so you can make a battle scene. & as for the preferred one I love the MU one since it is sturdy enough & the paint scheme it has just pops. I will agree the re-use of the Galactus sculpt might be a dealbreaker for me but I don't mind it too much.

I love my SDCC Sentinel. But I feel he is way out of scale. I would have loved a Wal-Mart sized Sentinel and a Master Mold SDCC exclusive.
|
I'm going to make a Master Mold Custom. all I need is a Manaquin, Hollow out its chest, sit it in a chair and dress it in big paint cans and air conditioner pipe tubing, get some big work boots and gloves, paint it
|
Dedicon, where are you from?
Hmm. I am going to get a Sentinel, don't know where though. Prefer the classic SDCC look but if I can find the regular at retail I might just get that. |
I just got a sentinel from hasbro toy shop baby!!
|
Got 2 Sentinels from HTS this morning plus 10% off!! One to keep on the big ass card and one to display.I cant wait!

There is absolutely no similarity between Galactus and Sentinel, absolutely none. Just doesn't make sense for Hasbro not to create a new mold for Sentinel. Lazy lazy Hasbro.... |
