I hope they go forward with it. I did read that they were saying that the meter represented the absolute minimum required to go into production. But who knows.

Tiberius 08-23-2011 11:46 AM

100% was probably the absolute minimum. I have been thinking about signing up a lot lately, just couldn't pull the trigger on "what ifs".

Optimus Vader 08-24-2011 11:51 AM

I think that shit was all marketing. I'd be shocked if they don't move forward with it.

Tiberius 08-24-2011 11:59 AM

Well, if they do move forward with it, I just may sign up if they accept more, if not, oh well. I found a few DCUC figures at a Winners today for 7.99 and it kinda sorda got me back into DCUC.

ludovicotek 08-29-2011 12:17 PM

Any word yet from Mattel as to the status of the club?

Nothing yet, but speculation hints that we may be hearing something by Wednesday.

thechris 08-29-2011 12:50 PM

I hope so, I still needs me a Jay Garrick. LOL.

Ah yes... Jay Garrick. I hate the idea of the subscription... but at the end, for Jay Garrick. I'll probably do it.

We all do, bro. :p We all do.

TheSymbiote 08-29-2011 03:22 PM

We are too broke to pay for a sub to get overpriced figures we may or may not want.

hrothgars 08-29-2011 03:37 PM

I liked the discussion about charging non-subscribers more for the single-figure sales on mattycollector.com, but they were saying it might be only $1-$2 more than the regular subscription rate.

The section I was reading stated that Mattel was evaluating any modification to the subscription which might make it market-viable. There is some limited new info available here: Save DCUC

Tiberius 08-29-2011 03:39 PM

I'm looking forward to the "New 52". Hoping this brings in new waves of DCU with updated costumes, I'd be down for that and get rid of my DCUC as more modern figures come out.

Hell yes! lol

Tiberius 08-29-2011 03:56 PM

At first I thought this reboot was the worst idea. Every day as it comes closer I am starting to get excited! I am just hoping this brings in a new wave of DCU figures. I really love the DCUC figures, but just the recent turn it has taken has turned me off. <//3

Wasn't fond of it at first either.

I'm just glad to know I'll be able to pick up official "no-outerpants" versions of Supes & Bats along with the cool Savage Hawkman. Supergirl looks better than she's ever been in my opinion - so I'll look forward to her DCU- figure.

jimster2010 08-29-2011 05:19 PM

I hope Mattel gets to doing the relaunch versions of the DC Characters. I know Scott the Toy Guru hinted at it in the last 2 q and a's. The DCD ones just don't thrill me though I will at least get Batman.

Optimus Vader 08-29-2011 05:32 PM

They should be charging non-subscribers more,.. for all of their sub lines. Something like $3-$5 more per figure. I kind of feel like there's not enough of a benefit to get a sub. There's usually a "club exclusive," which usually isn't an "OMG, I NEEEEEEEEEEED that!" figure, and if it is you can get it on eBay and still come out spending less on that line than had you got a sub (unless you're a completionist, of course).

I will say that the combined shipping w/all sub lines thing they're doing this year is a big step in the right direction.

You must not be keeping up with events :p

That is basically the plan. Mattel is going to basically "end" the current DCUC line at wave 20, and probably next fall launch a "new" DCU toyline focused on DC's revamped universe. Along with that, CnC figures will be discontinued, and the "focus" of the line will shift to "core characters" (ie, don't be expecting Golden Age heroes, or D-listers like Kamandi or Bronze Tiger)

That's the entire reason for the sub: to gauge the fan desire to continue "pre-Reboot" DC universe product (especially oversized figures, since those don't have a retail slot at the moment).

Well, I won't do it for Jay Garrick. The figure looks neat, but I got in collecting DC figures too late in the game to start collecting the JSA, and I've never been that big on the Flash (although I liked the valiant attempt to make him a television star).

I know I am. And at this point, none of the revealed characters (with the possible exception of Rocket Red, if he has the armor from the "funny" JL/I/A/E/Ant era) are ones I would want to add to my collection.

So it's pretty obvious that I passed. Except...I didn't. I signed up.

Why? Well, probably someone will be willing to buy the ones I don't want, even with the markup for the shipping cost to me plus a slight premium plus shipping to them.

And I'm crossing my fingers for more Doom Patrol and Metal Men.

And some characters from JLAnt.

And the misunderstood Time Commander from Animal Man #16...but I realize that's just crazy talk.

thechris 08-30-2011 10:58 AM

I'm actually in no rush for the reboot characters. I still want to finish off my other teams first like the original JSA. :(
