Well for me the drive left in summer because of the fact that I dated around & I like to buy a lot of clothes. I guess I have this hoarder type of attitude because my mother is the same way. I restarted collecting when I bought this WWE Masked SES Cm Punk figure & I managed to go to a special store that I call my alternative store since it gets a lot of good figures by the s***load. I picked up a Helmeted movie Thor & normal Dr Strange (especially cause this store has 20 of them!!!!!) . I'm starting to find my way back. Usually when a lot more is going on elsewhere is when I kinda halt collecting for a bit or sometimes when there is way too much out there for me to catch a break.

I like to blame it on the toys but it was probably because I'm an asshole.

The baby on the way is slowly fueling my burnout. Spending all the money we did this weekend on just crib blankets made me imagine how many sentinels that would have been though.. haha

Crap. Unfortunately my toy budget and video game budget is the same budget. LOL. Too make things worse... MU waves 4 & 5 came out almost back to back and like ALL the big budget A-list games are coming out in Oct/Nov. It's like a conspiracy. LOL.

Is that the mall Santa that told my mom she had a nice ass?

Better suited in the Action Figure General Discussion. Moved.

As for me, I tend to go through phases regarding toy lines, but there's never really a break where I don't get anything. As others have said, there's always something to fill in the gaps and lulls. Unfortunately, it has led to buyer's regret from time to time (Bakugan, Green Lantern).

The only time I was ever truly had a complete burn-out was the gap between G2 and Beast Wars. Most of the toy lines I collected at the time were gone or had lost their minds (Eco-warrior Joes? Really?). Even with Beast Wars, my heart wasn't really in it any more.

Then Robots in Disguise came out and I was back in big time and have been ever since. I also really regret not giving Beast Wars a fair shake (the toys, anyway), which is why I am not as quick to criticize a toy line until I see it first-hand.

Burnout from collecting? Not really. I take breaks, but I always come back. I do get tired of toy lines though and drop out. I recently unloaded my entire MU collection on eBay all at once. Sold most of my DCUC, and won't be collecting any more of those besides some core characters I desire, and I have completely stopped collecting TFs except Masterpiece figures. I find, especially with MU, the costs don't justify the shitty quality. MU has been going downhill for a while for me, with some of the worst paint apps ever. (Though I admit the last couple waves have been much better). At the end of the day, I can't pay $10.99 + 12% taxes for one MU figure anymore. Even buying in the states at a cheaper price doesn't do it for me. Previous toy lines I "burned" out of of were DCIH, Star Wars Clone Wars, etc.

That being said, I find that even though overall I spend more on toys now more than ever, since I am only buying high end toys, I find spending $200 on a single Macross Valkryie is more worth it to me. Those things are engineering marvels and just beautiful collection pieces. They are always show stoppers for my friends whenever they come over. Or I am spending money on vintage pieces like Kenner Super Powers toys, since those have huge nostalgia value for me.

I collect so many lines that I am able to avoid burnout. When I get bored with one line I work on another.

Feeling it right now. Starting to want to spend my extra loot on shoes, clothes, etc rather than dolls.

I'm feeling the exact same way. I've been looking into clothing a lot lately myself. Just don't feel the drive to search for anything nor does anything interest me at the moment.
