Kind of like that movie, "The Great Escape", but only in reverse.

Guess I'll have to buy Dr. Scholl's Magneto brand shoe covers or the Nike MindDeflector running shoes.

Do you really think that will stop me?

Besides, the tech needed to block my mind control powers is years off.

It'd stop you for a day until I scuffed my brand new shoes and then I'd be all, oh crap, why am I mopping this dudes house and cleaning his bathroom? Dammit did I step on some gravel again?

Rock and gravel driveways. The bane of mind control feet protection everywhere!

lol, you just won the internet!

mopping my house and cleaning my bathroom are the least of your worries

I would want to slow down time to a point of almost stoping it. That would take care of speed also cause it would seem like I'm moving fast. But on the other hand I really enjoy flying. Hmmm. Only one huh? I'll go with flight. If you have ever been sky diving then you know what I'm talking about. 120mph speed limit not strictly enforced!

When I was real young, I'd have to endure some TV shows that my sister wanted to watch, like Blossom. Whoa! Anyway, there was some show about a girl that could pause time by touching her pointer fingers together so she'd be the only one moving around, but she could also touch somebody and they could move around too while everything else was time-frozen. I pick that power. Kinda like Hiro from Heroes.

Out of this World.
Her dad was an alien, her mom was human. Yeah, I watched the hell out of that show and the Jerry O'Connell "My Secret Identity". Also Secret world of Alex Mack.

Go 80s sitcoms ftmfw!

DAMNNNNN that brings back some memories lol

Do Boy 09-17-2011 07:35 PM

Oh you know what. I actually might want the power to be able to teleport any where in the world

trebleshot 09-19-2011 12:53 PM

I choose Peter Petrelli's power from Heroes.

I agree the power to absorb and emulate any power you come into contact with is tops. I loved Heros. Too bad the writers strike killed the show. That last Carnival season was unwatchable to me. Peter Petrelli FTW!

I still blame Jeph Loeb instead of the strike. The strike gave us a short season and some broken up seasons, but it was the new writers, and addition of Jeph Loeb that sent the story into the toilet with not knowing how to write for tv. All the detail work heroes was known for was just ignored, and way too many "oops we goofed" moments in the Loeb era Heroes. I enjoyed the carnival ideas, but the execution of it was just all over the place. Some of it good, some of it just pure crap. Like Peter not absorbing the earth power when he shook the guys hand. Yet next episode he bumps into a woman on the street and gets her power. It went from stellar writing, and tons of interwoven details with how the powers worked and the interactions all meaning something, to then that last season none of it mattering from sloppy writing and piss poor planning and execution.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I don't blame the strike, and blame solely the writing staff shake up that included adding Marvel's Jeph Loeb. The same man who is single handedly ruining a lot of marvel comics with his editorial work.

Prowl 2009 09-19-2011 01:40 PM

Super Strength.

Optimus Vader 09-19-2011 01:49 PM

What did I say that led to this thread?

I'd like super strength. Wait,.. I have that already,.. ok, gimme Wolverine's slow aging/healing thing.

Shawn Woodbeck 09-19-2011 01:55 PM

I would pick Juggernauts unstopable force. Or Iceman's freezing.

The real life Magneto thread kinda gave me the idea of what it would be like to have superhuman power :)

I almost see the new writing team a result of the strike. So I still blame the strike. :) But I also agree with 100% of what you said.

I still stand by Telepathy. Oh what I could do with Telepathy..

MegaPrime33 09-19-2011 04:59 PM

Well my initial vote was going to be the ability to do any super power I can think of, but only use one at a time. Like I can teleport, fly, and create fire, but only one at a time.

However, if I must choose just one, telekinetic. Moving anything with my mind.

Like a Fisherman masters his bait. Right?

Greenskar 09-19-2011 05:16 PM

I don't really want a power, just give me a gf with Mystique's powers. I'm sure you can all figure it out from there.

Also, I remember once having this conversation with some work buddies and probably the most entertaining response I heard (because the guy was dead serious) was that this guy wanted the power of being irresistible to all women.

He reasoned that you could have anything in the world if women were irresistible to you. Then he used the Oprah Winfrey example. Women will do whatever Oprah says, so if you get Oprah to do what you want you control all women, who in turn influence what men choose to do. If you control women, you control the world apparently.

Again...he was dead serious. That explanation was followed by the guy who pretended he didn't hear any of this and just said, "I want the power to control other people's bowel movements. Even Superman won't want to fight you after he just shit himself."

And now you know why this was hilarious to most of us who listened to both of their reasons. It's like asking, "what would you really do if you had telepathy?"

One would make women do his bidding and another would be a telepathic laxative.
