He'll still be the funny, witty, chick magnet Human Torch... with long hair and a beard.

Jim Hammond doesn't fit in with the rest of the team.

I agree that it is too soon.

I think Spidey's slot should rotate where every couple of months a new science based character joins the FF for a special mission.

Guys like Pym, Beast, and even Stark could all take a turn.

Why wouldn't Hammond fit? I think Reed would make Hammond his pride and joy. I don't see Pym, Beast and Start as a member, the FF and F4 already have Reed as their think tank. Maybe Erik O'Gradey as Ant Man or something.

Without the long hair and beard how else will new readers know he's been gone for awhile?

He'd also need an eyepatch and a Spanish accent.

The Future Foundation is all about bringing the Marvel Universe into the future through science, its one of the reasons Spidey the scientist works, other than his obvious connections to the team.

Hammond as Reed's pride and joy? I guess when you put it that way, it makes sense, though if you're putting Hammond on the team in order to replace one torch with another, then it would make more sense to just bring Johny back, since we all know he's not dead anyway.

The point of those other guys is for the fourth slot to go to another science based guy to work alongside Reed using science for the benefit of the future.

All just my opinion ofcourse...

I think adding that into the story would be HUGE. Another rift in the family. We all know Reed isn't very...in tune with peoples feelings. Thing and Susan will feel that Reed is replacing Johnny with Jim. So it causes that rift between the family again like in Civil War. Adds a lot of drama. I'd love to see Hammond back in the Marvel Universe! =D.

A Future Foundation Iron Man armour would be fucking AWSOME. I smell a custom lurking...

With the FF battling all of those other Reeds do they really need another reason for Reed to come off as a prick?

He already reads like a supervillian!

Just kidding, your take on a Hammond story sounds pretty good.

Maybe we should co-write FF? Have a rotating 4th slot that goes to Hammond for an arc?

I would agree! I hate that Spidey and Wolvy are part of 3-4 teams, Its dumb.

Spidey and Wolvie = $$$.

Very true, saddddly.

I don't hate Spidey as a member of the FF as much as I thought I was going to, but I'm still waiting for them to tell that story where Spidey being a member really matters.

Spidey should only be a FF member and New Avengers member. Imo

yourfacehere 10-02-2011 02:49 PM

I honestly love that they are trying to bring the marvel universe into the future, but then I saw a promo for a fantastic four logo marked sometime for november I think. Then I thought, really, they don't want this universe to change?
One step forward two steps back I guess.
At least scarlet spider might be coming back, so that's a plus, and maybe he can kill Kraven, who should never have been brought back in the first place. Attempted resurrection, I'm fine with that, but bringing him back, I don't feel it.

Does anyone else feel we may have derailed the topic?

I believe this is the cover to FF#1. But don't quote me on that... Pretty sure in the comic itself he has a shirt. Once again, don't quote me on that...

So as far as I can tell, the Thing HAS NOT gone shirtless... yet.

This is the one used for the thing figure in the pack.
He wears a shirt mostly in FF, but considering they are still on the first storyarc, who knows if that'll change.

Fantastic 4 is coming back, but once it does FF will still be sticking around. FF will focus on the kids, and Fan4 will be the focus on the team.
Plus with the way the new suits work now, it's not hard for them to shift back and forth.

This is true, but I wish they'd keep the new outfits, for once they hit the nail on the head, and immediately they're prying it out. It seems like a waste, ah well, I guess this kind of thing always happens in 616.

Well, and to be fair to hasbro, they did cross the designs. That cover thing doesn't have boots, shirt one does. So they split the difference which works great for me. I prefer the boots.

Since FF is sticking around, we may still see the costumes depending on what they are doing. Just like they may keep spider-man on the roster.

At this rate though, I expect they may 'reboot' the entirety of marvel sooner or later like DC did. Peter Parker is getting his name out there again as being spider-man, and how they'll fix the entire cyclops becoming magneto over in X-Men is a tough question, among many other small problems and mistakes that keep cropping up.

Who knows what'll happen, but I kind of hope once Johnny storm is a good guy again, they give him an FF costume. That'll be neat, but I do also want to see the return of the Fan4. Maybe they do it for more mainstream marketing reasons, and keep the FF as their real 'team.' It's something that'd make sense with the way Johnny is more mass media appeal, while the others focus more on science.

You're right, I thought his boots were just juggernaut boots, repainted. I just wish they'd finish the job, but at least they did something.

I'd like that, a lot actually, I really like that Parker's able to finally do something with his science know how.

I really hope this is the case, future foundation johnny storm would look pretty sweet.

I certainly hope so, ultimate was supposed to be just that.....and then everyone died, but the great thing was that they didn't come back. I will miss Gambit though.

Oh nice. He is shirtless. But he has shorts and no shoes in this one. Guess they just combined the two lol

Oh snap, I didn't notice that he had no shoes in that pic till you pointed it out.

Nice eyes Do.

Do I win a "No-Prize"?

I am here to award you your no-prize sir (we are now even for prizes), expect it in the mail in 6-8 weeks. ;)

perrych 10-02-2011 06:47 PM

They could have easily made the shorts one with no shirt - but it would have meant pulling a different Thing out for the set and they probably didn't want to go that route. Adding a shirt would have potentially cost a fortune. So I guess this was a smart compromise.

I just hope that I can finally find one of the FF variations!

The F4 Thing already has shorts and no shoes. It would have been way cheaper just to paint the shorts white

I totally forgot about that.

You win a prize, thus putting you in the lead 2 to 1.

My thoughts exactly. And that would have been my personal preference, but I'm not horribly picky.

CLASSIFIED 10-02-2011 06:53 PM

I kind of like the long pants/ shoes Thing they went with.
