Wow man that is harsh. I have heard of and seen plenty of repackers but that is nuts! Somehow I felt toy collectors should be more mature (ironic I know) :/ shows how much I know

Damn, that sucks to hear.
When they told you to return the item to the store you actually got it from, I would have told the manager to call ahead to that store and tell them the situation before I left. But I've always heard about bad situations with Target returns. My personal policy is to never buy anything from Target if there is even a remote chance that I may return it. But I also tend to inspect everything I plan on buying from them before I go to the registers. I hope you at least get your money back, though some compensation would be nice too. I would think that they would do something for you, if you're willing to fight this hard for it. I would think most scammers would've probably given up on the scam by now. Out for a quick buck, and all. |
Dude that the hell? That's horrible man!

Dude you shouldnt have repacked the box and tryed to return it.
:P I havent had any problems returning anything but isnt this countering everyones problems with repackers and the stores taking anything back? I understand your frustration but at the same time she actually did the right thing. |

I never even knew people actually did this! I've strayed away from regular LEGOs for a while now. I'm pretty much strictly collecting Hero Factory now (moving on from the dropped BIONICLE line). Gonna have to start inspecting HF boxes now - this really is aggravating. Thanks for starting this thread and giving me a heads-up albeit at the cost of your frustration/money, DogFashionDisco. :( |

Have you tried returning to a different Target? Im sure you can find one place that will take it back so you dont lose 80 bucks. |
Didn't he say he called a customer service line and got resolution to the situation after yelling at a GM?
If the first person tells you no, just work your way up the ladder until someone tells you yes. |
I would have dropped so many F-Bombs if this happened to me. I hope things work out or so. Pretty horrible to hear this had to happen though.

That sucks, but I can't really fault Target too much. After all, SOMEONE filled the package with misc crap, and Target doesn't know DFD personally; so how do they know that he didn't fill the box? I'm not saying he did, but put yourself in their (the store) shoes.
When I was a kid I got a Sega Genesis game that I didn't want, had the receipt, never opened the game, but when my Dad and I went to return it (Clover if anyone remembers that place), they opened the case and Altered Beast was the cartridge in the package. In case you don't know, Altered Beast was the game that came with the console for a few years. This was back in the shrink wrap days.. before all of those seals started up. So we were screwed out of $50 (well, my Dad was since he bought me a replacement game). |

What was the lesson learned? Don't buy Legos?
|
The lesson of the day is "Don't buy Legos". Yeah, that sounds about right.

LEGOs are still cool, you just5 have to be really careful when purchasing them so that you don't get ripped off.
Anyway, this is where I am at in the situation so far - I spoke to another Target Specialist through their hotline today who took down all of the information about what happened, how it happened, who was involved...etc. She is going to retrieve the footage of that employee opening the box, and she is going to speak with the GM that pissed me off so much. I am supposed to receive a call back from her sometime today. |
Do you still have the box with the shit in it and the receipt?
Call Target and tell them you just opened your Legos, and there was a bunch of crap in the box, and that you want a refund. I bet they'll give one to you. |

Well I thought about it but to be honest I'm tired of wasting my time and gas money on this problem, and I want them to admit that they accused the wrong hombre (which they pretty much have, just short of paying me back). It just seems easier to make them do all of the work.

Wasn't my intention to offend anyone if I did :) So yeah, please keep us posted DFD - can't wait to see how this goes down - good luck! |
So here is the update on this catastrophe:
I am still waiting to hear back from the Target rep about how they plan to fix this mess, and I'm not getting my hopes up. I will however keep bothering them until it is fixed and they admit that they fucked up. Now the good news: A LEGO representative contacted me today and apologized for what happened, and offered to send out a replacement to me. They are also having FedEx pick up the rigged one so that their department can look into it, so I hope they're going to improve their packaging so no kids get burned. I made sure to tell her that despite the fact that I no longer plan on spending my money at Target unless for some reason I have to, I do appreciate her help and will continue to dabble in LEGOs. That is a great company, they were very professional about it. |
