Alright, straight dope time. The Wolverine movie was garbage, no two ways about it muff cabbage. That said, Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth was great. Anyhoo, sequel time, and in an unprecedented move Fox got Darren Aronofsky to helm. I cannot overstate that. Darren Aronofsky. It was surreal. It could have been huge, not just a good comic book movie but GREAT movie period. And then he left and took with him ANY hope of that movie being worth a damn. Now what we'll end up with are thirty dollar BD beer coasters and fifteen dollar theater tickets I'd just as soon wipe my ass with.

So, since I can't go back in time and teach Fox the art of decompression (XMO should have been THREE movies, the first adapted from Origin, the second his "Team X" exploits and the third focusing on the Weapon Plus program) or let them know that you don't need to re-tell everyone's origin story every five fuckin' years! Just make a GOOD movie, first and foremost! The Departed? Great movie, and they didn't have to "set it up" with origin story movies for Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg's characters first! Everyone in Hollywood's got their heads WAY up their asses when it comes to "superhero" movies, don't expect that to change.

On a more positive note, how about a "Team X" team pack? Or, ooooohh! Are you ready... Albert and Elise Dee! FTW!

And I sincerely hope all of you have seen Rainn Wilson's incredible new movie Super! It was seriously brilliant, so of course it performed poorly.

Yeah, nice. Just checked Wikipedia and it says that Super, on a meager 2.5 mil budget only took in 324 thousand. Cue Professor Farnsworth's "I don't want to live on this planet anymore."

Dont get me wrong I found the first spider-man game for PS1 one of the best comic games ever. I just LOVED Spider-man 2 the movie game. I popped that game in for years until it broke lol

LXL_Guy 10-06-2011 08:44 PM

I'd say just make a Comic Series Old Man Logan. I'm sure that one will be a big hit.

Wow why did I not think of that! Great call

I'm SURE you're being sarcastic. Really though, I would SHIT! I would need a whole line, though. Can anyone say Gigantic Battles 2-pack with BLIND Hawkeye and DESICCATED CORPSE Giant Man! Daredevil and Punisher with half-eaten-by-dinosaur variants? And old man Logan with MURDERED FAMILY play set! Yes!

LXL_Guy 10-06-2011 08:58 PM

I figure if a line with Wolverine is gonna be flooded by the different varieties, why not have one that really isn't Wolverine in the up most sense. I think it'd be cool to have a Wolverine like that. He could even come with a Hatchet or something.

I figure maybe a Lady Deathstrike would be cool too. Don't know if they've made her yet.

Nope no sarcasm here. That was an amazing call by him and I have no idea why I didnt think of it. I dont think they would exactly go that far but man they could make some really cool things. I more realisticly see them only making Old Man Logan though if any though.

Yeah I don't expect all of them, but with the amount of mold re-usage they could do among all those with minor part swaps and additional gear, it could be done. Probably spread over 4 waves though for the comic series. That's my main hope, the other movie stylized I hope for those, but yeah it's doubtful.

I just hope they don't overdo it with Wolverines no one cares about, sticks to the ones people want, and in the end don't flood the market with unneeded uninspired movie crap. For the movie itself, we only need maybe 4 figures tops. Samurai, Logan, Yuriko, and whatever the henchmen are. Barring anything surprising villian wise, to go out of the way and do robed logan, sake bar logan, tea ceremony logan, samurai logan, etc would just be shooting themselves in the foot.

Cover the main bases to keep the movie-verse fans happy, toss in some other movie nods that got skipped over, and just flood the market with Wolverine Origins/X-Force/Uncanny X-Force/Messiah Complex Wolverine tie-in comic series figures like X-23, Daken, Cyber, Lady Deathstrike, and toss in Emma Frost to parallel the Cyclops that was in the original XMO:W line. If you must go for Wolverine figures, do something fun and obscure like AoA, Ultimate, Apocalypse AoA Logan, old man logan, Ultimate Cable Logan, and maybe even Albert and Elsie Dee. Have some fun with it.

*Edit*
But for the record. Every figure on that list I'd buy. Cept for maybe classic Lady Deathstrike cause I hated that costume. Love her Messiah Complex costume that's been made into a statue with X-23 fighting her. THAT DESERVES A COMIC PACK HASBRO!

Omega Red (90's comic version)

You do realize this movie is called Wolverine right? LOL.

as long as this toyline has a comic series for me to spend money on, i could care less about the quality of the film.

Sometimes I put a wig on Constrictor and pretend he's a sexy lady.

They probably won't even make Wolverine 2 figures, but if they do they should make an X-Men First Class flashback Wolverine movie figure.

Just what we need- another loser with tendrils.

Someone at Hasbro has a serious tenticle fetish.

If they go with anyone comic series, I'd hope for Lady Deathstrike- the comic version- not that comical version from X2

Do Boy 10-07-2011 06:23 AM

I would honestly rather have Omega Red in the main MU line.

They will probably re-use the mold in multiple lines.

Do Boy 10-07-2011 07:24 AM

I mainly just want it to have one MOC. I rarely keep movie line MOC

ORIO 10-07-2011 07:39 AM

I definitely wouldn't be opposed to seeing some X-men in their movie costumes. Unfortunatley, I think you can count on a ” Samurai Logan” figure in this line.

They should take the opportunity in this life to make XFC figures in comic and movie costumes.

Fedup23 10-07-2011 07:46 AM

I would not waste any $$ on a Wolverine movie line...

Symbiote 10-07-2011 08:27 AM

I personally am not too interested in the movie version of the toys but I do think it paves the way for the comic version of characters. If darren aronofsky followed through, the movie would have been great and darker. I like his style of directing as made apparent in his previous films (requiem for a dream, the wrestler and black swan). But we'll see how it will turn out now. I know that movies are trying to go the darker rout because of the dark knight but doesn't it make sense to do a wolverine movie in a dark way?

Anyways, I agree that most movie games suck but there are some far and few between good ones too. Wolverine and spiderman stick out in my mind.

I agree that different universe wolverines would be great. They should also do one where he is in rage mode similar to what jin saotome did on one of his many great customs. The original xmo line also provided different hands swaps for wolverine too. They should keep that going as well.

behindthemask 10-07-2011 10:57 AM

Unless you have a wolverine with chrome/metal claws not interested or something slick that retracts... not really that interested, I did pick up a lot from the XMO line but mainly the comic line and the only real movie figures I got were because they were on clearance.

Fortune 10-07-2011 02:11 PM

Im honestly a bit shocked they dont already make an Omega Red

Why? He's a pretty obscure character...though not as obscure as some we've got.

Y'know...what would rock no end?
Reavers. Cole, Reese and Macon are a must for backing up Lady Deathstrike.
Then there's Bonebreaker...which I could custom from the old Toybiz version and a Dreadnok, but still...I want a MU release with a GI Joe level of military detail!

I don't think he's that obscure. I've say he's one of the top 5 for Wolverine's rogue gallery. Plus hers been featured in all of the cartoons. (maybe not Evolution, j can't remember) I'd say chances of an Omega Red figure in the next Wolverine line are highly possible

Jason Abbadon 10-07-2011 05:24 PM

Well...in truth, Wolverine suffers from a lack of rogues.
Most writers went with the "sabertooth is popular, lets bing him back" route rather than develop someone new.

You know whi they need as a Wolverine (comic) villian? The one guy that actually made Logan afraid. The guy that came closest to killing him easily-
Tiger Shark.

Seriously! That guy's like an evil namor with claws and fangs- took poor Logan to the ocean's floor, impaled Logan's claws into the coral there (sticking them too deep to pull out) and left him to drown horribly. All while casually talking to him, like he was nothing special.
It was the ony time they ever showed Wolverine panic and have to calm himself down to get out of a situation.
