They do.

Absorbing Man, Wolverine, Doom, and Ultron were all released previously as 2 packs.

No one at Hasbro expects anyone to buy every product they put out. And that's also part of the allure of repacks and revision waves. It gives kids and collectors the chance to get figures they might not have been able to get otherwise. For example, say you wanted Absorbing Man, but didn't want a Doom and Wasp figure too. Well, now you have that chance. Maybe some didn't like the green on Doom's outfit and prefer the more muted colors.

Or say you started collecting two years after the line debuted and you don't have Do Boy's luck at hunting down figures. ;)

Who knows? Maybe Hasbro will repack those characters again (they already did it once with Nightcrawler). Maybe they will do a new version that's better than the comic pack (FF pack Reed vs. comic pack Reed).

As a collector who started later than the rest, I want to have the figures I want, without being locked into buying an entire package of figures or one with a comic I'll never read. Plus, the single carded figures are so much easier to set up and display.

I like repaints, as long as the packaging is drastically different and it's a character I want. Ultron was probably a bad move, but I could see the Dr. Doom viability, even though it's not for me.

Sure, you get a comic, but as the line grows we are getting fewer packs with TWO new figures. Thus, as in the case of the Silver Samurai, we got one new figure and comic ... and a repainted wolverine.

To the OP, I would hope that they discontinue this practice of putting comic pack figures on single cards because these are the figures that aren't selling. Very few folks are really excited about a new Ultron or Magneto or Dr. Doom, but they might have if they were significantly different. I get that they are trying to recoup their money on these molds, but haven't they done that already by reusing most of them many, many times? Sure, modern Thor isn't that re-usable, but Wolverine's mold has gotten a workout!

Most - but not all - of us would rather see new figures on the pegs. I have no problem with 3 packs/multipacks being re-releases as this is a great way for people to catch up (although I hate it when they throw in there a must-have figure). This is good for the line. I even don't mind revision waves. But just have a revision comic pack wave and keep them out of the singles!

Of course I'd rather see new figures, but throw in singles of the old doubles (repainted if necessary) as well to increase your product line. In short, I want a full wave of brand new characters, plus a full wave of re-released characters at the same time.

Yeah! He's got Deadpool- accessory to murder!

Fortune 10-11-2011 03:45 PM

Well if they increased the wave size I guess I wouldnt mind but I know there would be loads of people complaining that those slots should have went to new figs. There is no pleasing everyone.

gunzilla 10-11-2011 03:55 PM

I'm glad doom was rereleased the single version is what should have been in the first place the c/p version was awful with bright green outfit and head that keeps falling off and single crossbones is totally the best version

Jason Abbadon 10-11-2011 03:58 PM

Why is your Doom's head falling off?
Weird.

I agree that the darer colored Doom looks cooler but the CP has a holster with a removable gun in it while the carded has just a molded on holdter.

CP>Carded

I just took a black enamel wash to by CP Doom to darken him up some and now he rocks!

Fortune 10-11-2011 04:03 PM

I need both dooms. I love doctor doom lol

DogFashionDisco 10-11-2011 04:30 PM

Out of the package the single carded Doom is pretty solid. I don't see anything about him that would warrant avoiding a purchase if you don't already have the comic pack.

But is he worth a purchase if I already have the comic pack?

That's what I'm trying to say. If you need to find a Dr. Doom figure for your collection and see a single carded one, snatch it up. Or, if you have OCD, snatch it up!

Jason Abbadon 10-11-2011 04:38 PM

Or if you wnat a Doombot- snatch it up!

Fortune 10-11-2011 04:48 PM

So what you guys are trying to tell me. Is buy all that I can get lol. Jason I hate you. Now I need to get one for doom and army build the other for doom bots

But you see, Hasbro doesn't play like that. Each of those re-released characters counts as a figure, and they only can get so many figures on the shelves each year. They are being pretty judicious about revision waves even. This year they have managed it really well - not a lot of peg warmers as popular figures that weren't easily obtainable were put in revision waves. Remember, though, that Doom counted as a figure for this year. So did Ultron. There are only so many figures and waves in a year.

Yeah. Someone here had the Comic pack leading two carded Doom(bot)s and they looked awesome- you could tell who was who, and it really made the three look great.

Where do you put all of this stuff?

I realize that, I'm just asking for more, since the molds are already made and the cost is much lower to produce them.

Incorrect. i have the comic version, and the holster is also molded on. The only difference is the shade of green.

I think he meant that the single carded one has the gun molded on too. God, I wish we had better things to talk about.

CLASSIFIED 10-11-2011 06:41 PM

I thought the two pack version had a holster that could handle a gun too, until I noticed it didn't just the other day.

It does, I think that is what they're discussing. The single carded one is just a "prop" gun molded into the holster.

Boba Fettuccini 10-11-2011 06:52 PM

Yup. Both versions have the 'prop' holster.

CLASSIFIED 10-11-2011 06:56 PM

Exactly, but I at one time thought the comic version could actualy have a gun put into it much like Jason.

Boba Fettuccini 10-11-2011 07:01 PM

I think it must have been a last-minute cost-cutting deal. You can tell that it WERE hollow, you could put his gun in.

MeLikeJinx 10-11-2011 07:07 PM

I hate CPs because 99.9999999999% of the time I only want one of the figs and 99.9999999999999999999999% of the time only one of the figs is completely new.

Having said that... I have a much easier time finding CP than singles... I think scalpers actually pass on the CPs for the most part.

And also... wouldn't mind regular Hawkeye being reissued on a single card.
