so for this^ version you are going to use a duke head?

Tiberius 10-15-2011 07:15 PM

Rather not use a Duke head for every single custom I do haha. Maybe try a Star Wars head.

well that may prove hard to do being the ball joints for the star wars figures holes are HUGE.

Just put a layer of tape on the ball joint, helps fill it in without damaging anything.

true,I have used sticky tack but prefer a proper fit,I wonder if the wave 16 stark head would fit well on Dooms body?

Tiberius 10-15-2011 07:20 PM

Probably, why would you put such a shameful head on Doom?

well I thought it might look cool actually,I like the fact that he has some mesh type skull cap on and if you add a goatee it could be a pre burned Doom as well.

JustryGT 10-15-2011 07:25 PM

He looks good in white. I have a lot to learn.
Ok I guess I will make the actual glove in wax and much smaller, the way Hasbro did. Blue sculpty is tough because the fingers stick together while I'm working. http://www.toyark.com/members/justry...01749-1357.jpg

Great skills! It is a little big though, does it suppose to shrink?

JustryGT 10-15-2011 07:36 PM

I think it is supposed to bake in the oven but this stuff is not right for this. I am going to use a wax based clay and make it smaller.-tomorrow.

Tiberius 10-15-2011 07:38 PM

I am looking forward to the finished result dude! Take WIP pictures too =D

D00MTR0N 10-15-2011 07:51 PM

I have a custom burned Doom headsculpt I used a dr.rex headsculpt, removed the eyebrows and put a ton of clear coat on it to give it a waxy look, but my camera is down :(

Tiberius 10-15-2011 08:04 PM

Shitty. Mine takes normal batteries...FOUR OF THEM. Reminds me that I need to get it ready for Toyfair tomorrow.

No- for a horribly scarred version!

Quake Hold, baby!
Or you can get Gorilla Glue, add some (not a lot) the SW head, coat the MU peg with cooking oil (so the glue does to adhere to it) and stick the head on there. Let it cure for 24 hours and it should make a perfect A+B joint.

If useing a Star Wars head, go with Admiral Akbar for the pic of him yelling "It's A Trap!" as doombots circle the Fantastic Foue..

D00MTR0N 10-16-2011 04:52 PM

another interesting thing about Doom is who really knows if we are reading the real DOOM in the comics or a Doombot.

ok so he is not terribly hansom but this Marcus T4 figure only cost a dollar and the head popped on easily. It doesnt have room to make him look up. Maybe with some more paint on the eyebrows , I can make him look better. I will keep playing with different heads latter.
I really wish I could find an existing torso to match the beyonder style Doom body. I thought of many Iron man and Star Wars figures but nothing yet.
I will hunt for some sculpting tools tomorrow at the hobby store so I can get started on the Infinity Gauntlet.

D00MTR0N 10-16-2011 05:06 PM

dude that looks really cool, keep posting pics of the different headsculpts until we can all agree on an ultimate unmasked DOOM \m/

D00MTR0N 10-16-2011 05:17 PM

I wanted to make a figure that looks as close to the Doom pictured below,I took the headsculpt from money bags destro and put it on the MU Doom body, still dont have a hood for him,I cant post a pic cause my damn camera is down but if you have the figure check it out, here is the pic od the Doom I was trying to createhttp://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/...___page_18.jpg

JustryGT 10-16-2011 09:48 PM

Well I thought I had a good idea with using Darth Sidious's hood if there needs to be plastic. Otherwise a guess a green cloth hood and cape could be made.
I didn't have any other current Destros so I opened my exclusive Destro . The head socket was too small so I just placed it on the Doom body and took a picture here;
Toyark Toy Forums - JustryGT's Album: single shots

The Doom in your new photo has leg and arm coverings similar to colossus or Marvel Universe Thor. It is too bad they both have such tall boots.
In my photos you will also see my attempt at fitting the Sidious Hood on Destroyer because he use similar patterns (if you could overlook the rivets) . But he is too big and his neck is hunched over like Hulk.
I think this new Doom armor would be best if it was mostly custom made. Otherwise, you could hack together pieces from iron man and marvel universe figures to get it close enough.

D00MTR0N 10-17-2011 01:31 PM

yeah,I may try the sidious hood but will have to paint it green,I tried the cloth idea but as of now it just looks too much like a bonnet haha.

D00MTR0N 10-20-2011 07:04 PM

just added the scar to my steve rogers/Doom headsculpt, the damn camera is down though.

They should make an update of the old Mattel Secret Wars Doom fig in the MU line.
