oh yeah as a side job I am also a Unicorn poacher. So far I am zero for 100.

Tiberius 10-26-2011 01:08 PM

I'm a scalper, I make my living on finding rare figures and selling them for a stupid amount of money that silly collectors do pay. I got links to a lot of Walmart grave yard staff so they put stuff aside for me, and give them pointers in what to look for, payment if you will for putting aside boxes of figures.

Honestly though, I am a Foods Clerk at a supermarket. Make them moneys for I can afford to take business courses and have money to live on.

First and foremost I am a father of 2. My boy is 2 and he is pretty awesome, my daughter is 8 weeks old and MUCH quieter than my boy lol!

As for my job, I am a mobile body shop for dealerships. I fix, repair and paint used and new cars on the back of their parking lots to make them pretty for unsuspecting customers lol. I work outside year round (which is brutal in the Chicago winter) and make my own schedule. The pay is pretty good and it keeps the boy happy with the latest Thomas trains and my wife can get an annual Coach purse from the outlet mall.

I temp. sad I know, but in this economic climate.
anyway, I've been safe to say I get good money and when one assignment ends, another begins almost imediatly. have been doing this for years. I'd take a job if it was offered but Dayton Ohio is a dieing city

I'm also cheap, only driving when I absolutly have too. I dont go out and eat, and I'm on the bus route. I'm good with my money mostly, still havent spent a single cent of last years tax return.

I eat cheap, like real cheap. I love canned food. it helps. I Horde money this way. Marvel and videogames and movies I think are the only real frivlous things I purchase. I have little to no debt. car is paid off.

my other vice outside of Marvel, and even Thundercats, is WW2. I got interested in it recently. the battles, the emotions, the characters. It truely is the most important time in the history of our world. The Stakes had never been higher

I'm single, because I choose to be single. a friend was pressuring me to get married and have kids. my response is "Yeah, because I am so ready to give up my money and free time." Selfish I know, but I like my independence.

thing that always scares me is my health. I need to get some form of insurance but with my temping its hard. I need somthing perminant, but untill I can get somthing, I temp.
I also am a caregiver to my father, who if any of you might recall almost died a couple months ago. so I live with my father, this helps me horde money obviously.

Dayton is a dieing city, and if anybody wants to hire sombody who is willing to relocate and has extensive data clerk office skills, send me a pm? lol.

Now my goal in life, for all you characters who think I dont have any aspirations after reading that, is to become a novelist. I have some stuff I am writing and hope to get published soon. My dream is to work for marvel, but the ideas I had for stories have all been revisited in some way. I wanted to make Carnage Scary, and bring back Onslaught but as a lesser villain, more like Mr Sinister in level than the gigantic uberthreat he is. also was going to write that Onslaught was really the reincarnation of Lucifer, the psychic alien who originally crippled Xavier. Lucifer was dragged back into space but I was gonna have him implant somthing inside Xaviers mind. some seed that awoke to become onslaught

so thats what I do for a living.

tlasjr 10-26-2011 02:25 PM

Is it bad that I'm suprised by the responses? I mean the stereotype is the guy living in the Aunts basement spending his SSI check to score toys to prove he's superior to 12 year olds who obviously have no idea what Sabretooths real origin is.
Instead in the worst economy since the depression the board is filled with people making well above the median income.

I handle insurance claims. Its not flashy but pays the bills and I like it.

solo0525 10-26-2011 02:37 PM

Im a boring accountant .. fun fun fun

That's a fun job. You get to hear all kinds of interesting stories behind accidents. Insurance investigators are also a fun job. It sounds lame by title, but by trade you really do get to do a ton of cool stuff and hear fun stuff.

Right now, I'm mostly a freelance writer, run the blog in my sig, and work landscaping gigs. Whatever I can to make money to pay the bills. Occasionally I go back to working retail just for shits and giggles, but I try to avoid that as much as I can now because of how crappy most of the retail management locally is.

I'd like to expand my writing forays farther with the connections I have, but for now the landscaping pays too well to give it up. Plus the life experience and real world work experience really helps the writing. It's one of my pet peeves that writers who have always lived a lofty lifestyle try to write the everyday man having never truly experienced it and then get overtly arrogant and start claiming superiority over the 'plebians.' Makes me want to just smack them upside the head.

Yeah, that sentence got away from me, but I also tend to prefer an informal style in everything but real written work.

thechris 10-26-2011 02:52 PM

I'm a web programming and graphic design manager. I work for a company, but I'm also doing a couple of freelance projects on the side.

I work for a non profit that helps those with barriers to employment overcome those barriers and find jobs. We aren't a charity, we're a chance.

I'm a student. Currently in my graduating year of High School and taking a University Psychology course. I used to work at Walmart, but I hated it there. They kept on screwing up my work schedule and refused to fix it every time.

Darkspeed 10-26-2011 04:53 PM

I'm currently on break waiting for the contract to restart, but I normally work in a call center sorting out travel insurance... Truly, the most interesting job in the world! ^^;
