Weird. I too watched this last night. 7/10 Some cool elements but, a few of the ott action scenes were just utterly ridiculous and kinda took me out of it.

TomsToyChest 11-02-2011 09:18 AM

On Halloween I watched The Car. It's mindless dopey cheesy '70's horror at its finest. :)

Edited to add: I rate it a 9 out of 10. I get amused at James Brolin's attempts to act scared of a driver-less modded Lincoln.

So what are you gonna rate it?!

I forgot to add that tidbit of information. It's now been corrected.

Wizard of oz. I am rating this film 10 out of 10. I live not to far from the house used for dorthys house.

BlackMagnus 11-30-2011 10:19 PM

The Cove 10/10

I don't think I've ever been as intrigued, angry and saddened by a film all at the same time. Definitely a documentary worth checking out.

deadpool 11-30-2011 10:34 PM

The A-team, 10 out of 10 when ever I'm sick I watch it.

cabrican 11-30-2011 10:52 PM

kiss of the dragon gets a 9 out of 10 from me-- solely on the basis that i have a thing for bridget fonda.

Mrbrains 11-30-2011 11:58 PM

Green Lantern 5/10

Is that the documentary about the dolphin slaughters in japan?
I just can't bring myself to watch that. I start crying whenever I even think about it too much.

Man...right tere with you. I watched a documentary on how sharks are rapidly nearing extinction dur to "finning" for idiots in asia to have sharkfin soup.

Made me want to take a baseball bat to those fishermen...and the people ordering it in resturants.

I just saw Batman: Year One last night- it's got great animation and is a big 10/10. Really the very best Batman anything to date!

As to actual actors on film...I saw The Thing (prequel) a couple of weeks back- it was allright. Not a hair on the Carpenter movie, but okay. 6/10
Low score mainly because there's some key rules Carpenter set up that are ignored here- like the Thing tearin through your clothes to absorb you....that and the larger cast (and some big unanswered questions) really knock down my rating on a film obviously made with a real love for Carpenter's masterpiece.

Yup, that's the one. The last 15 minutes or so hit you hard with the graphic results of the "ritual". It's really an unbelievable thing to see, it's may be hard but, it needs to be seen. When I bought the Bluray I was actually a little unsure of the contents but, I'm really glad I got it now.

That I can completely agree with. That I've known about for years, I've been studying sharks and ocean life in general for years. It's the whole practice that really irks me, there is no regulation in what these poachers (that's what I will call them) do. It's not like cattle here in the US that is bred to be eaten or crab that has seasons and limits to it. They just kill, cutting the fins off and throwing them back into the sea to bleed out. I know Ersico is with me on this, it's an utterly disgusting practice that needs to stop.

Oh don't get me started on shark finners. That fills me with pure rage. I think that is the single worse case of mass cruelty to animals commited by man.

Yeah, I saw a few simular documentaries about it probably in my mid to late teens. Whenever the practice was first discovered by western conservationists, at least.
I can watch a lot, in documentaries. But that, and shark finning... I just have to either turn it off, or leave the room. I can't take those.
But I agree, it needs greater awareness.

Eye See You gets a 10 out of 10 for complete awesomeness, and at only $4 it was also a steal.

There *is* regulation. And the practice is illigal in most countries. It's just really hard to enforce it, and most countries outside the US don't.
Gordon Ramsey actually did a documentary on it this year, and used it to get four of the most predominant London chinese restraunts to stop selling sharkfin soup. Since then, he's become a huge advocate to stop sharkfinning, by trying to get stores and restraunts to give up shark fin soup.

Thpugh I love and respect sharks and all wildlife (except those useless Pandas!) part of my outrage is that finning is based on nohing but human stupidity- shark fins HAVE NO FLAVOR- it's all astatus symbol for those assholes. If you swapped the fin for whitefish and just called it "sharkfin soup" the customer would never know- the soup's flavor is all what's added to it.

Add to that, all the species going extinct, like the African Black Rhino just was last month, for "asian traditional medicine" and I rage all the more.

Really, they need to stop calling it "asian traditional medicine" and refer to those people as "stupid motherfuckers"- bozos that just get into their heads that anything rare and exotic can be consumed to make their dicks bigger or cure illness- and there's nothing "traditional " about it either- none of this mass slaughter of afrian or european animals was happening prior to WWII.

Globalization plus stupidity and suspersticion equals extinction...
