Bleeze...and I doubt they could do her origin of "gang raped and mutiliated because she was bitchy"...or the horrific payback machine that is...Dexstarr!
(he looks like my cat, all curled up among the bones of his victims)

I have no idea how I hit G instea of B ... sorry -_-;

Jason Abbadon 11-12-2011 11:38 PM

NO biggie- I'm many things...a typist is not among them.

But the point stands- her origin kinda precludes her being in the series.

I'd love to see the Cyborg Superman in there somehow though!

Oh yeah I never thought about Cyborg Superman. He would be really cool. Id like to see lanterns of other colors but I just have my doubts. I know bleeze cant be in it but I can still hope.

Jason Abbadon 11-12-2011 11:51 PM

With the Red Lanterns useing Bleeze as a main charcater in the comics, thy might have wanted someone a bit more...likable.
Bleeze is a TOTAL BITCH! Man! The currest issue goes into her origin- she was the biggest stuck up bitch ever- and now she's even worse somehow!
She spit on her own mother's grave!

Wild theory:
Atrocitus spoke a couple times implying that it was the Green Lanterns that destroyed his homeworld. His hatred of the Guardians (Like in the comics) comes by extention of this since they're the creators and ultimately responcible.
He never once mentioned it was the Manhunters.

In the comics, he hates the GLC not because of who they are and what they represent, but because they were created by the Guardians.

So... we all know the GLC would never be complicit and commit genocide because the Guardians told them to do it. (Not unless there was an accident, like Stewert accidentally destroying the one planet).

So my theory is this... The Sinestro Corps are the ones responcible for destroying Atrocitus' home and people, posing as the GLC.

Green Lantern:The Animated Series

So what do you guys think of this toon? I had low expectations but it's actually pretty good, a lot better than Ultimate Spidey. Probably #5 on my toon watch list.

Jason Abbadon 04-26-2012 05:36 PM

I only saw the first episode, but it was suprisingly good- once you get past the shoddy CG animation, anyway!
great character portrayal of Ganthet in particular.

Barefootabe 04-26-2012 05:47 PM

im pleased with it..i would like to see more earth based episodes..but i can understand them wanting to center it in space

LXL_Guy 04-26-2012 06:00 PM

Is the first episode just part of the hour long GL episode that was shown last year?

Either way I find it kind of just okay so far. Needs more time to grow on me.

Barefootabe 04-26-2012 06:13 PM

yea it is..just like how they did young justice

I believe the next episode will be an Earth one.

Crazy Jetty 04-27-2012 03:48 PM

It was okay at the beginning. I enjoyed it, but it didn't have me craving for the next, like Young Justice. But it's gotten progressively better. I really like Razor, and Saint Walker was completely AWESOME.

Josh Keaten is pretty good as Hal, also.

The only downpoints are, are the CGI, and when I first heard about it, I'd really hoped it would be set in continuity with Young Justice.

trebleshot 04-28-2012 08:16 PM

I'm liking it so far. My daughter and I watch it together, along with Thundercats whenever there's new episodes.

Crazy Jetty 04-28-2012 09:52 PM

I have a theory (And this is not based on the most recent episode. Have to wait until money at earliest to watch, due to Botcon), that Razor is Destined to become a Blue Lantern.

Saint Walker has taken a liking to him. Granted, Walker sees good in everyone, but we already know that Razor has a noble heart, and Walker does too.
We were shown in the last episode exactly how badly Razor hates being a red lantern. And how graciously he took Aia's new Oath, and fibbed about it so she wouldn't feel badly.
Also, we know that a Blue Lantern ring is one of the very few things that can restore a Red Lantern.

I think by the end of the season, Razor is going to become a Blue Lantern.

I didn't get the fact that Carol ultimately decided not to be a star saphire. I mean she is Star Saphire, so I'm kind of confused by that.

Makes perfect sense. Carol never wanted to be Star Sapphire, pre-corps. Any time the Star Sapphire gem came to her, it possessed her forecefully, and she'd become Green Lantern's Psycho Ex-Girlfriend. (She's not the only one, either)
Once the Zamaranians created the Corps, and the rings, they changed how it works into something that doesn't completely overwhelm and possess the barers.
When the ring came to Carol to bring her into the Star Sapphire corps, she didn't really want to accept it. And only reluctantly did so when she learned everything had changed (For the most part)

This portrayal sort of mixed up the order of things, to bring about the Sapphire Corps first. I also imagine they didn't want to have Carol be a bad guy in this series.
And just because she gave the ring back and returned to earth, doesn't mean this time was only a one off deal.

Saw Green Lantern today and it had female Oans? I thought they were the Star Sapphires by the time the Green Lanterns were created and kind of different looking than the male Oans or is that funny DC continuity again?

Exodus 05-18-2012 08:59 PM

No clue, but I'm liking this series, although it feels rushed, maybe because they don't think this series will last.

There are female oans. Sayd and Scar are the two best known.
Sayd was even in the movie.

I've seen every episode so far except for this past weekend's, and I'm really liking the show. Not such a fan of the animation, but budgets will be budgets.

@Crazy Jetty: The reason you won't see them move away from Hal Jordan isn't because they don't realize he's a boring character. They did know and that's one of the reasons he got killed off. And his death pre-dates the [meaningless] death-a-week trend that comics seem to be fond of these days.

The only reason he was brought back is there was such an uproar/backlash from old-school fans when Kyle was brought in, that the writers ended up being forced to bring Jordan back (starting with his turn as the Spectre). So yeah, DC's not going to make that mistake again. We're stuck with Jordan for the long haul.

Ya I think it's pretty good, I like Aya and Razor.

Specter 05-21-2012 10:58 AM

Just got into this recently, really like it.
I think Aya is my favorite character.

Yep. Mores the shame, too. Now we're stuck with him, just like Optimus Prime.
But I do feel most of it is Geoff John's overly nostalgic view of the silver-age.
As much as I adore his writing and his story archs, he's way too clingy to the silver-age statis quo.
