And what has Megatron been up to? When he isn't getting mind fucked by a Victoria's Secret model he's failing at stealing the earth's natural resources.

Got to get tough: Yo Joe!

Ah, I see a flaw in this argument/gonna get anal about it... The nanite weapon, although very kick ass, is from the new GI Joe movies.... 80's Duke would be stuck stealing shit like the MASS device, or maybe borrow Cold Slither to take down Megatron! :P

Our fearless leader, Optimus Prime, gets my vote.

80's Duke could thwart Megatron with something Breaker, Clutch, and Shortfuze threw together, or if you caught up with him in his later years, he'd have Dial Tone and Mainframe do whip something up for him.

Either way, he'd transform his ass, then use him to shoot down a Rattler, but not before the pilot bailed out.

The only character seemingly incapable of taking out Sunbow Megatron was Starscream. Outside of him, *anyone* could take Megatron. He wasn't much of a challenge.

CLASSIFIED 11-15-2011 08:20 PM

I agree with Crazy Jetty.

IhsantheCursed 11-15-2011 09:26 PM

To everyone who wants this to be an actual poll intead: I think Classified already stated this but Ill say it again: One can only have so many answer options within a poll. I think we have 20 possible options this way.

Anyway....PRIME in the lead by a landslide so far!!!

DogFashionDisco 11-15-2011 10:15 PM

The coolest characters I had as a kid were always GI Joes, namely Gung Ho, Snake Eyes, and Destro. Looking back on the quality of the 12 in. figures i had, they could've been better, but I just remember loving those toys.

Can't argue with that... Although I'm sure Cobra Commander would also fail miserably, while he was constantly shouting "Cobra! Retreat!"

I disagree. In the first season alone Megs was seen bitch-slapping Brawn, and Ironhide all over the place. Checkout the episode "Fire on the Mountain" to see Megs punking out Ironhide.

Yes, but Cobra Commander successfully took over the world several times while I can't remember Megatron ever achieving such success.

Sure GI Joe eventually won, but only because they were battle tested against Cobra.

Optimus and the Autobots are weak because their enemy is weak.

Tsk-Tsk my friend. While Meg's may not have ever quite conquered the Earth , he did hold Cybertron , and its moons , as Decepticon property during his time as leader (At LEAST 4 million years that is). It wasnt until Galvie showed up that it was taken by the Autobots. He also very nearly succeeded in destroying the earth a few times. In my opinion if Starscream hadnt been a treacherous bitch he may have eventually succeeded as he did eliminate Optimus himself.

CLASSIFIED 11-16-2011 05:06 AM

What do I care about Cybertron?

Those Cybertronians are tools anyway.

Tools for us to transform and drive around in.

That, and he did conquer the entire world in Megatron's Master Plan, where he tricked the entire planet into believing the Autobots were the bad guys... With a population that dense, no wonder he decided to stick to Cybertron! :P

I'd say Michaelangelo, or all the Turtles together if they could count as one.

From the obvious choices from He-man to Optimus Prime, to the lesser known guys like Inspector Gadget, and Banana Man, YOU decide which is the most impacting hero of the 1980's. YOU decide who is the greatest cartoon hero of that decade once and for ALL! I will add the names of any hero that I missed that you wish to nominate aswell :)

I nominate the Turtles. Take down the muppet babies and Capn frigging Crunch and list some actual heroes instead.

lol good point , but I also explain...if you quote me entirly , why I didnt list the turtles. When I was watching TV in the 80s I remember Transformers, Gi-Joe, Gobots, ect. While the turtles did indeed air in the 80's, I think most of their run was during the 90's ....and thats when I remember them the most. However, if another person wants to see them up there I guess I'll put them up there...

Just because you didn't watch the turtles in the eighties, does not in any way make them any less eighties icons.

I disagree. Because, once more I dont think most people watched them at the time either. Either way...they are up there now. (shrug)

Tiberius 11-19-2011 01:41 AM

When I think 80's cartoons, first thing I think of is He-Man. Then after that, Transformers, so Optimus, then Lion-O. Oddly enough the only one I REALLY enjoyed was Transformers, however I always thought a lot of characters in He-Man where awsome, minus He-Man.
