WHYYYYYYY?! Please tell me title of said storline so I don't waste time and money. |
From what I've heard (and read), Schism sounds like a manure truck crashed into a locomotive hauling large quantities of fertilizer.
In other words, one steaming pile of shit train wreck. Glad I'm not reading comics anymore. It seems to be much safer (and cheaper) to just read synopses and Wiki articles these days. Quote:

Man...that guy puts serious anti-relgious stuff into almost every story he's allaowed to write and often adds in shit that not only makes no damn sense, it ruins other characters. He created the Sentry and was allowed to write an after Seige fuberal epilogue wherein it's shown that Sentry and Rogue had a sexual relationship...which means either he was bangin' Rogue before she was 18 or when she was with Gambit and Sentry was already married...it's a total asshat story by the worst writer Marvel has ever EVER employed. ever! The same jackass wrote Civil War Frontline which made Tony out to be a war profiteer and alleges he was somehow behing the Stamford incident- a story so appaling a character-destroying that Joe Quesada said it was "just speculation by the characters" nad absolutely NOT what happened. He's also behind Nightcrawler's father being a "demon" and...well, Wiki it for yourself. It almost completely wrecked both Nightcrawler and Angel as characters. |

....and for my next trick....that wolfy looking guy with claws...was totally raised by wolves.....TA-DAAAAAAH!!! Its this kind of blatant disregard for comic book history that will sooner or later bring Marvel crashing down, and they will start have to start churning out Disney-ified X-babies type books, with no real substance. You have to wonder if thats the whole idea, slowly but surely grind the company down, then justify closing the whole thing down "because its lost readers,is running at a loss",and is no longer viable. Personally i cant wait for the Jack Skellington: flame-headed rider of Vengeance comic book!!! And dont forget the X-Teens/Toy Story limited edition titanium die-cut pop-up comic book/3D animated movie with tie-in toy super-happy-mega-apocalypse level merchandised crossover event at your local MICKEYplex supermall/comic book/toy store™!! Wolverine:"im the best at what i do bub..." Woody:"Theres a snake in my boot!!!" Wolverine:.........."sigh"...........SNIKT!!!! |
This should be interesting though, Marvel is top Comic so far...

Really. It's vomit inducing. It was Jenkins pissing on as many characters as possible since they killed off the one he made. |

Demon with a Psycho- the story you never knew happened in he mind of one crappy writer.
Oh, and the Thing relates the heartwarming story of the Wrecking Crew murdering a schoolbus full of children and how the Sentry helped him get over his rage from not being able to stop it. Yep. the Wrecking Crew. Somehow worse than Carnage, if that issue is to be believed. |
X-Men Schism- a second glance
Some time ago many of us who had read this event expressed our overall disgust at how we personally felt this story was executed. As it turns out, this series was getting pretty rave reviews and after a long conversation with one of my closest friends and fellow comic fans, who really liked the story, I decided to re-open this discussion to see if anyone else has read this story yet and has a positive opinion about it.
I personally am still not in favor of this event. I will admit that one of my major reasons for disliking this event is purely based off of the choice of villain(s) who I could not take seriously, although Jason Aaron has been praised for them with comments like the following: Quote:
Now I not only read this story, but I bought the Hard Cover collected edition off the positive things I'd heard from people I know who read the single issues at the time of release. So my disappointment in those areas I described is accentuated by the money I spent to feel that way. I wouldn't want that to discourage others who may very well enjoy this book for the moments that were good. To say the least I really liked the artwork towards the end of the book and the fight scene between Wolvie and Cyke was good. I'm definitely interested to hear anything positive others have to say from their reading experience. |
I wasn't really liking all their points of disagreement that led up to the final showdown between cyke and wolverine. I feel like wolverine has gotten soft with worrying so much over the kids. The one part I did like however was the point when Cyclops brought up Jean in their big fight. They had sentinels getting ready to blow down their front door and their big disagreement went right back to Jean.

I'm going to read this as soon as I finish secret wars. on issue 5.

Either way, I always felt both Scott and Wolverine helf Jean back. She could have been a much more badass character without them. |
I'm fine with the points of disagreement. It's a valid point for a split tbh. The entire debate of where is the line on using children, and should they let kids be kids.
My problem with the event is it didn't really dive into it in itself. It was only in the outside of the schism event comics. The schism event itself along with regenesis just felt like a ton of macho BS primate chest beating and not really dealing with what the disagreement was about. It wasn't until later in WatX that it really got a nicely worded explanation, ditto to generation hope around the time. Everywhere else it was just bleh. So I'm fine with the idea of schism, I'm just not fond of how it was executed in the issues that were supposed to be all about what the issue itself was. |

I mean...um...and yeah, Hank's blue furry self has tagged Brand and Dazzler too. I...I mean...he's a talking blue gorilla. It's creepy for him to be with normal women. |

As for the Jenkins discussion... sounds like the dude turned Sentry into his own personal Mary Sue. |
