I think that even if they focus on older stuff, it is still enough to bleed over into what we collect. I remember someone on here mentioning a while back that an old lady was trolling the toy aisles somewhere with a list of shit she didn't even understand trying to make a quick buck. Just imagine dozens of those people lingering around toy aisles for now on. It'd be enough to make me stop collecting altogether.

What sideshow figures do you have? I have a few X-23's...and yes it's a good thing we're quicker and nimble than those old ladies:P

Yard sales AAAAAHHHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Hahahaha!! As for the show,at least there will be SOMETHING on tv worth watching for an hour a week!!!!

Good point on the the timeliness of when the show would be showed...

I've got a bunch of them dude. I have my movie monsters on display, but in a couple boxes somewhere I have some crazy and random characters. Guys like Doc Holiday, Hellboy, Vlad the Impaler,...etc. I even had the Shaun of the Dead guys for a while, but I sold them to a lady who wanted to give them to her kid for his birthday (or so she said).

Very nice! Great statues just so dang $$$....I haven't even pulled mine out yet of the box..

I agree this is a double edge sword I like the concept of the show but if this goes into more modern toy lines this is a potential disaster to us average collectors and scalpers will explode driving prices through the roof. I'm honestly not sure what to think of this til we see the show.

Let just hope for the best but I'm thinking since its about comic con and all will see toy lines from the 80s and up....

nomad1632 01-10-2012 06:30 PM

I think toys like sideshows and hot toys will shoot up a $100 or more and I can barely afford them as it is I still have hopes of getting a war machine eventually....

Agreed, although those are more "statues" and not toys so may still be different...

roadrevenge 01-10-2012 07:02 PM

I really don't think it is going to cause us any major problems, it might slow us down abit. The people who go off and listen to the shows prices are just going to find themselfs waiting on never ending auctions on eBay that won't sell. We know more than anyone the value of the common figure. Scalpers want a quick sale, they don't want to hold on to something they can't sell.

If the show boosts up the price, wait it out. It will go down... That is enless someone is stupid enough to pay the price right away.

Very great point.

thats true hell heres hoping the show will boost my sales at the show Im going too :D

thechris 01-11-2012 11:29 AM

This just means that we're going to have to buy at release time when we get the chance or it'll be gone. I already see this happening without this show, but I can imagine it'll get a lot worse. It's pretty much been consistent in that when I wait more than a week or two to buy a toy at it's release, I find that it's all sold out. I check eBay and there'd be maybe 10 to 20 listings of that item at a largely inflated price. Look at those numbers, though. 10 to 20 listings. That means there are only 10 to 20 sellers and I'm already at a point where I can't find the toys that I want for a reasonable price. It really wouldn't take much to upset this balance and tip it towards the inflated resellers even worse.

moneycon 01-11-2012 09:18 PM

I dvr'd the show but cannot set up a series recording. I have a feeling it's a one off....probably feeling out the market (tv)

blasekbh 01-16-2012 07:51 AM

Just watched this... anyone else notice the guy at the end who spent $17,000 on Boba Bet... haha I rewound a few times and he def said his name wrong. Makes me skeptical.

bmorr 01-16-2012 09:12 AM

i turned the tv on right as prototype missle launcher fett pops up. He spends the show screwing over retired industrial designers. he better stick with the older stuff cause that seems to be the shows focus.

roadrevenge 01-16-2012 09:27 AM

anyone know where I can get the show online?

DogFashionDisco 01-16-2012 09:37 AM

Damn, I should have at least watched the pilot to see how bad it was. The Travel Channel website doesn't say shit about it, so I doubt its online anywhere, at least in a legal capacity.

frodotrout 01-16-2012 09:38 AM

i just find it hard to believe that after all this time, with all the internet auction sites and classified sites, these people would suddenly open their homes to this guy to buy from them. and from the looks of it non of these people, with the exception of the tomart guy, had any idea what these things were worth. i know from expierience, that if i wanted to get an idea what something is selling for i would look it up on line, not rely on some so called "expert" in the toy field. and one other thing, that guy who owned a the oldest comic shop in cincy that boba fett and had no idea what it was worth, it surprises me how his shop managed to become the oldest, wow.

A lot of these collecting shows are staged, so there is a good chance that the shop owner was approached and asked to "sell" a rare figure on the show. The guy probably isn't doing well financially and figured he'd get a shit ton of free advertising, but that is just my guess.

My big fear is that some new toy gold hunter will come onto this thread and find out they can make a mint by buying up all the Iron Man, Thor and Captain America figures and the Thor Iron Man comic packs. I would hate to see someone score all of those from under my nose! They'd probably only take the main characters too since thats whats popular!

blasekbh 01-16-2012 10:52 AM

Don't forget about all those rare dark of the moon figures. Especially that rare bumblebee!

Toy Hunters!

I miss the Toy Hunters show on travel channel last Sunday. Dose anyone know if there going to replay it? I check their site but nothing shows up. Or where I can download it. Thank you

Exodus 01-18-2012 12:45 PM

Yes, did anyone watch it? How was the show...

TF Tony GI 01-18-2012 01:00 PM

My girlfriend saw it, and she said it was a good show, showed a lot of star wars toys. In fact she said that there was a star wars toy worth ten thousand. I got to see this!

Optimus Vader 01-18-2012 01:39 PM

This show ruined collecting for me. The day after it aired I went to the toy store and all the good stuff was gone. I hate this show for that!

Did that really happen? Toy collecting (through retail) has been bad for almost a year now. I remember when Target had a sale where not only were MU figures marked down but they were BOGO. Now there isn't a thing worth buying, but I guess thats good because I couldn't buy them anyway.
