Just some DC Direct stuff, but it's still nice to see. I'll be waiting for Mattel's offerings. Though I have to admit, a 12" statue of Bane in a come-at-me-bro pose is definitely tempting.

Cool, thanks for sharing dude.

RexLewis85 01-24-2012 10:24 PM

The articulation looks shitty on those...I think I'll stick with Mattel

LORD MARVEL 01-24-2012 10:31 PM

Garbage...just like the rest of DC

RexLewis85 01-24-2012 10:42 PM

Actually DC has much more engaging storylines than Marvel...oh yeah and it helps that they're not owned by Disney :P

Got some confirmations from Matty Batman on a couple of things...

Dark Knight Rises info... - Topic

There will be a total of 6 figures needed for the batsignal. And yes, there will be figures without the QuickTek. But QuickTek is Awesome!!!
It's good to know we'll only have to get six figures to complete the batsignal. Batman, Bane, and Catwoman are instant no-brainers, but I'm not so sure who the other three will be. Would be cool if they were Alfred, Gordon, and Ra's.

TDKR basic & quick-tek action figures question... - Topic

7 points

Neck
Shoulders
Hips
Knees
Not as much articulation as most people would want at the 4" scale, but I'm fine with seven points. I'll at least be getting a Bane and a Batman.

redx24 02-11-2012 04:32 PM

damn im still getting a few but the lack of arm articulation kinda kills me for some reason. oh well thats life i suppose.

batsfan 02-11-2012 08:42 PM

I will def buy the mm but if mattel includes chase figures I hope they have better distribution than the dark knight mm

Rather be owned by Disney than WB...*shudders*. Anything 3 3/4 for DC is an easy pass. Don't even need to give it a 2nd glance.

batsfan 02-11-2012 09:20 PM

wait a min I thought you were a dc fan as well as marvel I wasn't trying to ruffle any marvel fans feathers I'm a die hard batman fan always have been I respect marvel as well as dc. But if ur going to say dc is garbage dosnt know their comic history dc started it all without the jla stan lee would of never came up with fantastic 4 and everything that followed he was ready to quit util his boss told him how good jla was selling and told him to come up with something similar but don't mis understand me I like marvel but I'm just a dc fan is all

Tiberius 02-11-2012 09:24 PM

No I know, just WB hasn't done anything for DC since the early 90's. Those cartoons where THE BEST ever made. I am more of a Marvel Fan mainly because of the quality figures. Although I think DC has better writers [for the most part] but Mattel cannot make 3 3/4 figures to save their life.

JustryGT 02-11-2012 09:42 PM

they can when they want to . Some of the Avatar toys were good.
I hope we see some Mattel toyfair pictures tomorrow.

batsfan 02-11-2012 09:49 PM

I agree with that as well and I agree that 334 figures have no thought put into them marvel universe is 10 times better dc does have good writers but I could of done with out grant morrisons take on batman when he wrote he would leave you hanging and you didn't find out what happened next till 3 issues later after he started a new story ark but I wasn't directing my messages to marvel fans just to the dumb ass who said dc was garbage this is a god dang toy forum you have to keep an open mind so the whole disney and history lesson was for him he pissed me off so bad I had to take a adivan I love all comics and have a very deep respect for stan lee but back to marvel figs I'm glad the bringing back ml I hope they reissue deadpool from yr back man that fig is going for crazy money anyway man sorry for my rambling

Being a regular at the Fwoosh and then signing up here is quite the eye opener. I forget that stupid comments about genitalia and "WHO'S BETTER MARVEL OR DC!!!!111" are still considered appropriate on message boards.

On the topic of Mattel and the TDKR toyline, it's clear Mattel is either unwilling or unable to put the time and effort into anything new or innovative. The only two new sculpts we are aware of are Bane and Catwoman; the Batman figures in both the kids line and MM are reused from TDK.

This new "Quick Tek" thing is an example of what Mattel seems to be all about right now: gimmicks vs. real investment in new developments. The money wasted on that plastic could have been used for new sculpts for the smaller figures and increasing articulation at that scale. Instead, crappy throw-aways will lead to bigger packaging and higher prices. The smaller figures will clog the pegs and adversely affect the placement of other Mattel DC merchandize down the line.

If only Hasbro would get the DC license....

HawaiiNOKAOI 02-16-2012 05:17 PM

I'll probably just be getting the DC Direct 6" Figure of Batman along with those Funko vinyls & Bobble heads. Oh and if LEGO comes out with a DKR set, I'll get that too!

Relax, that has only been a recent issue. Try to talk to some of the regulars a but more before you jump to conclusions.

Agreed. Quite a bit of the new activity has been somewhat... grating.
Welcome to the board, Americhampion! Don't get offput! Get past that, and there are some great people to talk to!

I think Ideally, the two companies sharing the lisences of both would be absolute ideal.
Hasbro allowed to make 3.3/4" figures, while Mattel gets to make the collector oriented 6" scale.
Let both companies work to their strengths to make a perfect world

...alas... such a thing is just too beautiful for this world.
The earth would collapse into a black hole under the sheer weight of awesome.
