HAHAHAHA!!! Mine too. I bust a nut every time I see it.

trebleshot 01-26-2012 01:00 PM

We had a whole thread devoted to that "variant." If I can find it, I'll post the link here.

But production errors in general are usually worth very little compared to their "normal" counterparts. Unless you count the hilarity on these boards that results from some guy on Ebay trying to pass it off as a rare variant.

Then it's priceless.

EDIT: Well the original thread was about legitimate GB packs, but that's where the Cantina/Guy thing first got posted:

And here's the sequel:

Haha, I posted that picture, awesome. I've never been that shocked by Walmart's stupidity before, which is saying a lot.

$10,000, easy.

VETF! That's awesome. I need to sell a Gladiator with that in the listing. Honesty can't hurt, right?

This picture used to make me laugh, now it saddens me. Couldn't it have been the Black Goliath Pack?!? That one's everywhere!

I would like to share one .You are looking at "No abs" Sub-Mariner.I thought this was quite interesting,When This wave first came out in stores..I was going through all the figures trying to find if any had a variant so i'm like ok looks like this could be one...So my friend calls me later in the day and says "Hey you you see the variant for SM?"I'm like yes the no abs!!"He is Like noooo it's the Imperious Rex figure stand!"Lol Funny I thought...

So wondering if anyone has something like that?Maybe I'll put it up on Ebay for a $1000.00? With a whole song & dance .How it's the only one..LOL

How did you not realize at some point that the abs where turned around and that you where looking at the figures lower back?

I get shit like this all the time. Funny how Namor pops up a lot in this way. I went through 2 of the 1st single carded MU figure before finding 1 that had both a left and a right foot.

Got a handless Wrecker once and a 6" Sabretooth that was also missing a hand.

Fun.

Man you guys are making me paranoid, now I'm going to have to go through my stuff to make sure no plastic mutation going on :P

JamzMan 01-26-2012 06:39 PM

I bought a Bucky figure back when that wave was still pretty recent and there was a cheap marine corp figure in all black gear wearing a black beret. My first thought was that Hasbro was just lazy and didn't give a shit but then I realized some smart collector probably bought Bucky, removed him from the package and replaced it with some crap toy, then took it back for a refund...Voila! Free Bucky figure. Then some poor sap finds it (Me at first) and thinks its a cool variant.

Smart collectors aren't thieves.

Not at all. I say smart collector because some of the quality of the MU figs back then were, IMO, only worth the price of a cheap marine corps fig. So the person who did paid the price the price we all should have paid. As for the BAF it looks like just plain thieves there because I find those packages still torn open on the shelf for full price.

DogFashionDisco 01-26-2012 09:18 PM

I suggest not buying DCUC figures missing CnC parts, and you should probably pass on MU figures that are not actual Marvel characters.

another edit:

Ask for advice when this stuff happens, or atleast trust your gut instinct and pass on weird things you find at retail (or strange "variants" for $100's of dollars online). I'm not telling you to pass on things you like, but I most certainly am suggesting that you should walk right by something that looks fake.

Jason Abbadon 01-26-2012 11:33 PM

Well, cheap army goons rock for the occasional "Wolverine just slaughtered a platoon" scene.

As to the BAF figures, I see that at TRU all the time with DCU- it's easy for thieves to do because DCU packaging hides the BAF piece.

JamzMan 01-27-2012 09:02 AM

Oh of course, my little marine corps figure became my sons immediately and since has taken more of a beating than a crash test dummy so...worth every penny. He is always the bad guy who takes the bath time beating. It's great because at his age(6) there is no such thing as a "toy error" just some toys are better than others.

@DFD- Since that and becoming a member here I have learned a shit load about these toys, so thank you to all the arkers for all the info, this site has been a HUGE help.

Nexodusrex 01-27-2012 03:20 PM

I have an upside down scarlet spider without his stand or the plastic that would hold his stand. That worth somthin? lol

It was funnier in person, my friend Matt and I took that picture at a derelict Walmart before they remodeled the place. We almost died laughing.
