Short supply kind of, but the big problem was Mattel made Gleek the show exclusive. You could get the twins on the matty website after SDCC that year, but Gleek was ONLY at the show. The next year they had learned their lesson and made the show exclusive the suitcase for Plastic Man. Not as big a deal if you don't have the suitcase.

thechris 02-21-2012 01:32 PM

^ Yeah they really screwed us hard on that one.

kenm2474 02-21-2012 01:48 PM

I was lucky enough to grab Gleek and the Twins for a great price.

ToyAddict 02-21-2012 05:51 PM

Yep, I paid $38 shipped for mine, still bagged.

thechris 02-21-2012 05:54 PM

Wow, that included the twins or just Gleek?

Just Gleek. Twins cost me another $60. Not bad I guess for all of them under $100 -- cheaper than traveling to San Diego for sure!

thechris 02-21-2012 09:17 PM

That's a great price. I think it was around $150 when I was wrestling with auctions. Now the cheapest one is Buy It Now for $250 which is never gonna happen. I don't even like the Wonder Twins or Gleek. It's more for the sake of collecting them.

batsfan 02-21-2012 09:47 PM

i got just the wonder twins when they came out and if gleek is that much money man i can live without him

I wish I could think like that. When I collect Groups or teams I have to get them all or it just looks off to me in my Collection. Plus I never really like the Twins or Gleek but they just belong in my JLI Team as a memory of The Justice League(Super Friends) Show..

well ken its a little easier for me because i only collect batman thats why but if i were collecting teams i would be going nuts for him i wish i did but my wife has had me limit my collecting to just batman

You might be better off for it. I mean, you might have money left.

I started needing characters from Super Friends. Then I watched Justice League (not too much difference there). Then I watched Justice League Unlimited. So now I "need" all card-carrying JLU members. And all Bat-family folks.

Now I'm getting several Blackest Night TPB's from my local library. I so far have resisted the urge to get any of the different light color corps -- sticking just to Green. I don't even have Sinestro Corps Sinestro. Gotta draw a line somewhere or I'd be broke!

batsfan 02-22-2012 07:43 AM

yea collecting green lantern, blackest night. and teams can be expensive i imagine man but collecting just batman has saved me money though i collect batman graffic novels and tpbs and batman legacy ran me 100 though i did find a guy who sold me a lonley place of dying for cover price which was cool because its going for 40 plus dollars i got it for 5 dollars

Actually, aside from Karu-Sil, Romat-Ru, Arkillo and at times, Kyle Rayner and Katma Tui, the Lanterns are among the cheapest figures to get.

While I could be wrong, I took that to mean he was specifically speaking about DCD's "Blackest Night" toyline, and not Mattel's various Green Lantern toys.

You are right about that. My point was that by me not spending my money on them, I can (almost) afford the figures I do want. Most people can't afford to be 100% completists, and I guess I was just sorta saying its good IMO that his wife helps keep him focused and grounded (and is accepting of the hobby at all).

Yep you're right there. If I only stuck to my "Get the big 7" idea, I wouldn't have this giant DCUC collection and in some ways, I may have been better off. LOL.

Nah, I was originally referring to wave 17 and the few other stragglers (wave 11 Cyborg Superman, wave 3 or 20 Sinestro, GL Classics not-green-lantern figures, etc.)

Come to think of it, I did keep the Carol Star Sapphire and Black Hand for my collection -- but that's as far as I'm going! No deputy lanterns for me! They could milk it for a long, long time if they wanted to by adding more lantern repaints (like the coming Yellow Hal and Blue Kyle). For me, deputy lanterns are my cutoff. I **might** keep the leaders of each, but they'd have to be cheap. And Atrocitus ain't gonna be cheap; nor Larfleeze.

Unless you're Batsfan, that's a different conversation with a different person, concerning "Blackest Night." He primarily collects DCD, if I remember correctly, and I also recall reading a post somewhere else where he said he cherry picks some of the Blackest Night line.

And this won't help you for Atrocitus, but if you preorder Larfleeze over at BBTS, then you're guarenteed one at retail prices.

What makes me really miss the DCUC line, is the room it had for extreme variety. It was easier to please everyone. They could fill it up with endless GLs for me, and still have room for Superfriends for others, and Justice Society for others still, and so on.

ToyAddict 02-22-2012 07:30 PM

I subbed, so I'll get Atrocitus for $15 plus shipping (still way higher than we're used to paying for a single new figure). Larfleeze is in wave 1 of DCAS, so I'm betting he'll be easy to get. You know how retailers overdo it on new stuff (and the later waves are near impossible to find).
