It's hard to remember what I had first in the early 80's, but I definitely remember Super Powers Aquaman and Superman, along with a handful of others (82), G1 Bumblebee and Grimlock (85/86), an all-black, smooth Snake Eyes (82/83), and He Man with Battlecat (82).
Having older boy cousins sure helped... My first MU was the SDCC Sentinel last year. ;) |

|
My first toy ever was a Keaton Batman movie fig with the grapple hook belt.
|
Pretty sure mine was the '83 Cobra soldier, swivel arm. May have gotten Zap, Rock 'n Roll, and/or the Cobra Officer the same day.

Time to show my age here!
My very first figure was a Star Wars Death Star Commander trooper (I actually still have him, I just don't feel like digging into my basement and find my Darth Vader case right now). My first robot was a Shogun Warriors Dragun (the die-cast metal, 4 or 5-inch figure with shooting fist and axe). This guy right here. My first Joe figure was a straight-arm Snake Eyes My first Transformer was a G1 Cliff Jumper |
first figure as a kid?...i dont know. i started collecting back in 2009 when nobody gave a fuck about MU. my first MU were hulk and spiderman/humantorch 2pack.

1984 Transformers Autobot scout Hound, from my grandpa, no special occasion.
Thanks, Gramps! I remember Hound being a whole lot bigger when I was a whole lot smaller. :) |
a ton of hot wheels. i'd heard that every picture taken of me as a kid, i'd been holding a hot wheels car of some sort. especially loved the color change ones and the ones that had those spring loaded damage effects.

I had that one too, loved it.

Its funny how that stuff sticks with you throughout life. The majority of my collection is Batman now, and hell, if I saw that figure for a few bucks somewhere I'd buy it again without a second thought.

I'm right there with you! My first "action figures" I can distinctly remember : 1974-ish!!!: Evel Knievel figure with a motorcycle! from there in the mid '70s I had Stretch Armstrong! Shogun Warriors: Raydeen Mazinger Z Micronauts : Time Traveler and Ackroyear and Biotron were my first of those. 1977 Star Wars: First were Luke and Darth Vader with the light sabers in the arms and vinyl cape. First transformers: G1 (pre rub) Soundwave and Buzzsaw, followed by Megatron I remember some larger "doll like" Superman and Spiderman figures (off topic, any one remember that giant oversized Superman Vs. Spiderman comic!) From there it was all down hill(uphill?) Lovin' every minute of it too! |
had to have been Star Wars figures. Then He-Man and Secret Wars figures. Don't know which came first. I'm think secret wars around '84 or '85. Damn I miss the 80s

I remember Stretch Armstrong very well. I never got him but I did have the Stretch Monster. I had to dispose of him unfortunately because that jelly-like goo in that thing burst and made a huge mess. I had some of the Tron figures too. Those burned up in a storage building fire unfortunately a few years ago. They would have made a nice compliment to the Tron Legacy stuff I have. I remember having a 12" Spider-Man. For some reason he had bare hands and he came with a web that was like a net. I never had the Evel Knievel bike. I did get the Team America Marauder after a lot of asking my parents for him when those were available. Great fun! I had Transformers and GoBots. Never got Soundwave but I did have the other tape cassette characters. |

But the ones I loved the most I got when I was 4... Mego's Aquaman and Green Arrow... followed by Batman, Robin, Superman, the Fantastic Four and, eventually, all the rest. Yeah, I graduated to Star Wars, Star Trek - The Motion Picture, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, etc., but the Mego figures were always me favorites. I still have them, too. Of course, I played them practically to pieces (Spider-Man still looks decent). ML caught my interest, but the price and size kept me away. MU is nice and small. I love the fact that MU makes figures I dreamed about Mego making when I was a kid. I mean, I used some of my 12" figures as Galactus and MU actually made a Galactus! My first MUs were the Iron Man/Blue Goliath Giant Battles pack, Daredevil, Union Jack, and Silver Surfer. |
