Whatever...its gonna end up being Skrulls. I'm sticking to that belief til the movie comes out and proves me wrong.

I sure as hell am not going to play this board game, though, lol.

lmao!!!

Those are just game pieces and mean nothing about the movie. Still a great find to see it at retail, but those are the same prototype game pieces we saw before.

Hopefully we will finally start hearing spoilers soon though to answer what they are since the world premiere was today.

But yes, no matter what they are aliens. In the Movie-verse loki and thor are both aliens too.

If I never saw it, it's new to me ;)

I had no idea the world premier was today, though, that's awesome! Hopefully we'll get some feedback soon.

Also... am I the only one who thinks the recent 3.75" villain figures kinda resemble the Covenant Elite guards from the halo video game series? Now that's what I call a crossover, Marvel!

They really do. xD

There are spoilers hitting already saying what the aliens are, but I gotta say I'm a little disapointed. It's too close to the animated feature from before, though from all accounts enough action and story differences it's moot. Just kind of wish the aliens were a bit more interesting than that.

Spoiler: It's the Chitauri. Or at least a Movie-verse version of them. Fits, but it's still rather meh since they won't be getting any development after this feature and by all accounts a throwaway one off badguy. I hope the spoiler on who it was that leaked is just comic fans screwing around personally, but it really does fit with the entire roots of the movie-verse.

Booooooo...first report proves me wrong :(

I hated the damn villains in that ultimates animated movie too. Oh well. Still stoked about the movie!

And strangely feel like playing Halo.

I'm addicted to the pc Demo of halo 1. xD
Watch some RvB, fails of the week, or Horse, and then I've just gotta get a round or 15 in on blood gulch. xD

Maybe they're a new kind of pokemon

Personally, if these are the Skrull, I like the look. The comic ones do the job, but they're too human in some ways. If you make em into creepier weird-ass aliens, then they're a little more believable.

Er...you'd be okay with the Skrulls
A) Following loki instead of their Emperor?
B) wearing gold armor instead of anything like their uniforms
C) Having grey skin and skull heads in the movie and purple skin in the figures?

So, to wrap up- wrong look, wrong motivations, purple/grey skin with skull head.
Yeah.

On the other hand, Sam Jackson looks dick like Nick Fury, so...;)

Likely the lameos from the Avengers animated movies.

tlasjr 04-12-2012 08:58 AM

I note the series three figures say main villans. does that mean there could be secondary villians as well?
So now the movie is out. And apparently the main enemy is known, but doesnt conform to the comic cotinuity. matching what wheddon said all along. no impact.

SH0CKWAVE 04-12-2012 09:23 AM

Does this mean Marvel Universe is dead again?

Greenskar 04-12-2012 09:45 AM

The great journey is upon us!

Sorry woke up with that stuck in my head, lol. Well, the first tweets on the movie from the premiere have been very positive.

Apparently, Hulk stole the show!

Peteparker 04-12-2012 09:57 AM

Notice that the first feedback of the movie don't say anything about who the villainous army is.

*EDIT*

A little bit of google digging gets the answer. Apparently a movie critic who went to the premiere spilled it in passing, not thinking about the ramifications.

I won't post the results here out of respect for those who care what the name of the alien in the movie is, and the fact that knowing it may actually 'spoil' some surprises in the film.

Heads up though, if you're trying to avoid the answer, you're going to have a rough couple of weeks ahead of you. Most likely it's going to spread pretty fast once others have done the same research.

The movie-verse is more in line with the Ultimate universe, and Ultimate Nick Fury is based on Samuel Jackson. So really, with that in mind, he's dead on accruate. xD

A) Sure. Loki's a friggin' GOD with more power than their emperor could ever have, and he's a scam artist to the max. All it would take, for example, would be Loki starting a massive war and crippling their empire and then being their humble savior and offering them stability if they serve him.
B) Skrull uniforms are horrid remnants of the 80s. If that lame purple armor gets replaced with somewhat Asgardian-style gear, so be it and thank you.
C) Just as OK as I am with Nick Fury being black in the Ultimates universe. Just because somethings been the same for so long doesn't mean it has to remain that way. Changing things up and trying new ideas is healthy.

Yeah.

'Wrong' is rather subjective. The movie universe is totally different, so who's to say they couldn't have different motivations in this continuity?

That said, I'm not saying it is or has to be the Skrull. But if it is, I'm not going to complain. If it's something else, cool. Either way, I've been pleased with all the interpretations of various Marvel continuity elements that the Avengers movies have given us so far, so I'm going to be optimistic about this instead of crying doom and gloom cuz it's not comic-perfect.

Hell, even the Watcher would leave town for that invasion.

It makes sense that they are borrowing from the Ultimates rather going back to the 60s to tell the origins of the Avengers. The Ultimates are modern and line up well with modern thoughts. The 60s stories are great, but were written for a different era. The Ultimates have already adapted some of the stories and themes and updated them. The look isn't necessarily Ultimates but the characterizations seem more in line there.

Hell, I'd think Uatu would go find Galactus and say, "Ok, you can eat Earth now. There's no saving it. We've lost it to the Snooki."

To which Galactus would reply, "Ugh, I hate getting Snooki on my food. Wash it off first, Norrin."

Awwww man. Now I can't get "Snooki wants smooch-smooch!" Out of my head from that South Park episode.

I wonder if anyone who is actually interested in this board game will one day be angry that its not movie accurate and has Skrulls instead of Chitauri?
