If you have been reading the Ultimate Comics series, or have been participating in the pre-movie discussion about the aliens, you know that the Chitauri are the Ultimate Skrulls, so you know they're shape-shifters.

Just knowing that alone is an obvious part of the plot. Released or not, it would be completely unfair to find out the name of the aliens in the title of a thread, especially if that's one of the points you were trying to avoid finding out about the movie.

I'm not saying it's an intentional spoiler, just that it would be respectful of the people who don't want to know to take it out of the title.

Very good point about the shape-shifting.

The title does more than that, it actually names them directly.


On the topic of the actual figures. Not really a fan of the design. I will probably try to pick up a couple of the movie line ones that are riding on those sled things.

Shape-Shifting has never been implied though. In any way shape or form. That's what I meant about their names not being related to the story.

I think it's kind of odd that people are that desperate to not know the name of the aliens. I mean, if you're in the theater opening night, had no idea what the aliens are called, would you honestly go "OMG CHITAURI FANGASM BLARG"? You know what the race is called, you know they're in the movie, do you really care that much? Does ANYONE really care that much?

No one said anything about the movie being ruined but it is a spoiler and I don't see why all the denying it instead of just saying "hey, my bad". Titanic? Seriously bro? That's soooooo the same thing. Let's yell and get angry at some chumps then call them names for no reason, rawr.

Curious as to why people are upset at the title of the thread then because either they didn't want to know or whatever. Knowing this information will not in any way change the movie what so ever.

Of course not but it might change one's movie experience, though not significantly. I look at it this way. There are very few surprises in our lives these days with the internet, 24 hour news, etc. We no longer have that that time where we don't know stuff. If you are curious about anything, say what year a song came out or what other movies you've seen the actor on your TV screen in, that information is like seconds away on the net. The internet reveals stuff to us everyday that we didn't really want to know. Basically, sometimes it's nice NOT knowing stuff and finding out organically. I miss that, like when I was a kid and didn't know which X-Men figure was coming out unless I saw it on the back of the box or, more often, on the pegs. I remember going to the toy store for my weekly action figure and they had Forge there. It was one of those really great moments of discovery that seem to be more rare these days. Not saying this reveal should be earth shattering news for anyone but just explaining the reasoning. Well, mine anyway.

Your reasoning is very legit and I respect that. Really like how you explained it though and puts things into perspective. Still think it isn't a big deal though. How I look at it is, I love knowing, and I love looking forward to experience it first hand. It's like. I know the score for the hockey game but I still go see highlights to see how good/bad the goals are.

OK guys I Punk'd you all. No aliens in the movie what-so-ever. As a matter of fact the trailers released on the interwebz were to trick you guys. This movie is really about the Fantastic 4 taking on Mole Man and the Avengers aren't even really in it. Whoops forgot to put **Spoiler alert** (playing obviously)

If you read Ultimates, they Chitauri mention they have been referred to by some races as Skrulls.

We've accomplished that by now.. That's the reason he used them because it was a loop hole to get Skrulls in the movie. And I'm pretty sure this same exact sentence has been used in the thread 2 or 3 times lol.

The most interesting thing about this thread is that there has been very little discussion on the actual topic. Namely the figures themselves.

Altered the title to prevent further spoilage. When official pics are released, we can add the name back in. As for the pics, I look forward to getting better, clearer versions before I make a judgment call on them. As of now, not half-bad.

I can say that I sought the information out, and was a little mad at myself for looking it up. Of course there's a possibility that shape-shifting isn't involved, but it seems like an obvious plot point given the trailers (which I've stopped watching).

Lol. I wish a good FF movie would come out. Those guys got a bad roll of the dice for sure. Maybe with the tech to make the Hulk this time, we'll get a good Thing out of it next.

I love the Select Figures, but the scale seems all messed up, often worse than the MU figures. A combination of that, not being totally into movie figures, and the overall price of these has me only collecting the 3.75" aliens. ;)
