When I posted originally, I was looking to see what the general consensus was because I've never seen a forum work like this, and I visit several myself. Now that I get where you guys are coming from and why it works well for you, I redact my opposition of it.

I respect that.

Anyone think that thread covers way too much? I didn't mind at first, but just today I saw someone post a deal in there that could, and should have been placed in the deals thread. Of course, being an all inclusive appreciation thread, it's technically appropriate.

I just feel like there are way too many conversations going on in there and most of it should have it's own thread. I'm posting this little rant here because my intended audience are marvel posters.

Its been going fine for months and months.. all of the complainers have shriveled up and fallen off. Dont shrivel up and fall off. :thumbs

BST posts should go in the BST forum, not in any other thread/forum. I've already asked in that thread that the numerous posts about 4/$20 deals be kept in user's sigs (as a link to their own BST thread). The BST threads or PM's should be used for discussion of BST deals, not the MU Appreciation Thread (or any others, for that matter).

Not sure where the old one went, but coupons and other deals should now go in this thread: Official Deals, Sales and Coupon Thread - Toy Discussion at Toyark.com

As for customs, any posts that talk about the receipe or if it's a WIP, advice on what parts to use, techniques - all of that should go in the Customs forums. Completed customs also have their own forum, but if the custom is Marvel 3/75"-related then it would be ok for the Marvel 3.75" Appreciation.

The MU Catch-All Thread was supposed to just be about MU. It was created to allow users who wanted to talk about just MU stuff - no sidelines like Thor, IM2 or the like. Otherwise, it was to be similar to what I've outlined above. It eventually became a clone of the Appreciation thread and eventually was left to wither on the vine.

All i have to say on this is if it aint broke dont try to fix it...does the thread go off topic?? Yes,BUT its usually MU related,i understand the guidelines are there for a reason, but as people get to know each other better, and "friendships" form things do get a little "looser",but this is how a community is formed,im pretty damn proud of the community we have built over there,no big egos,no trolls, just a great bunch of like-minded toy fans, helping each other out, posting pics, giving advice, etc, yes we do need a little wiggle space for our off-topic shenanigans (i should know im a bugger for it!!) But isnt that a fair trade-off for keeping a great community(surely the whole point of this site) thats being built around the thread?? Not to mention the new people the thread is pulling in too.....

i agree. i visit many times a day. i have made good friends on here because we are allowed to talk and discuss. i really hope that all this unneccessary attention dies down and we can get back to just posting and having fun

Exodus 05-03-2012 03:32 PM

Ditto! I know I've gone off topic with TF's every so often, but I do get back on track!

FancyPants 05-03-2012 03:37 PM

This in no way reflects my opinion of the other posters of this thread.

However, the creation of this thread was pointless.

Too many threads is too much to deal with and stuff to read. Consolidating marvel related news, buys, figures, pics, basically anything in a 3.75 marvel scale is fine...

If only we had a thread like that. wait a minute...

usagent27 05-03-2012 03:51 PM

I really don't understand why some get upset with the appreciation thread.

As a MU enthusiast, I enjoy all the random news, deals, comments and discussions. I'm not really bothered by the rare Transformers posts, or any other random toy line injection.

For example, when one Arker posted something about using fish aquarium accessories with the MU line no one cared that it was unrelated because there is a viable use within the line.

The same holds true for many toy lines and off subject items. Some transformers go well with the line and the random comments can be informative for someone like myself, who does not know much about them.

As for the deals... If there's a good deal on MU figs, why not post it in the thread all MU fans follow. My collection has benefited from this practice, and I can't see why it would not be discussed in the MU thread.

Also, Things have been slow now for awhile. Most I feel are just compensating accordingly until things pick up.

All of that makes sense.. but you have to remember.. not everyone is able to skim over posts that dont interest them.

yourfacehere 05-03-2012 04:59 PM

Not really too bothersome, I like it, additionally there's not much to talk about till the MU line comes back from hiatus, which won't be for awhile thanks to the awful movie figures.

Why not? I do. I'm betting all Arkers and for that matter every-person thats ever followed a blog or thread has.

I guess everyone has an idea of what the thread should be, but what's great about the thread and why it's as popular as it is, is because it is what it's become.

Not everyone can be pleased all of the time. It's a community. I would rather waste a little extra time on posts I don't care for than have the admins go all nazi on us. I think they have given us a fare amount of room to breath on this thread and for that I thank them. Thank you ToyArk!

More casual forum users who have limited time to search can go to one place that they will find topics based on what they're interested in. Also if you are selling something of course put it in your BST but it's great to have a place where people will actually see that you have something for sale to just drop a quick line. "Hey I picked this up, hit me up if interested" That way people who don't know how to navigate the site well will have an opportunity to buy something they may be looking for. It helps both the seller and the buyer. And lastly, quit your bitchin IMO. Like everyone else said if you have a good thread idea... create it. That's the beauty of the interwebz.. :thumbs

YES, strongly agree!:chair This is a community right? lol

Oh hell.

I flipped thru two pages at the end of that thread and I'm already dizzy.

It wasn't so out of control when I pissed in that alley.

What happened to that thread?

Iceman 05-03-2012 09:51 PM

That thread is basically one stop discussion for all things Marvel Universe and I'm fine with that. It's active with lots of pics and great ideas.

I don't mind people posting about stuff they just found and are offering to others for good deals because otherwise I, and many others, would miss it. Don't have time to click on 50 BST threads just in case someone is offering something I want at a good price.

Ninjinister 05-03-2012 11:16 PM

I really love the Marvel 3.75" Appreciation Thread. It's a general discussion of something we love - photos, hype, review, chatter. Sometimes it gets off-topic to some non-Marvel stuff and it gets a bit worrisome, but before long things are steered back in the right direction.

If some guy throws in his "I've got these for sale 4 for $20" type things, I don't mind. I don't normally look in the marketplace section of the board and even when I have no intent on buying or have not enough allocated funds to buy, it's still nice to see what they've got.

My post was made to illustrate your very point.. hoping maybe putting it in print would show some people how easy it is. :o
