Went with Rock Lords because I remember owning most of them when I was young. My favorite was the green two headed guy.

You can rationalize it's because Transformers was cobbled together from several lines, but the inconsistancies still percist even to today, where classics Grimlock is a full size class smaller than Classics Optimus. Further, when Blackout and Starscream, while being amongst the largest TFs in their universe, were both barily larger than Bumblebee, and quite a bit smaller than Optimus. Something that was never fixed for Blackout.
Scale... character wise or alt mode wise is something that continues to elude Hasbro.
Gobots at least had a somewhat consistant character scale, if not vehicles.

Don't get me wrong. I am in no way defending Transformers and its own issues with scale. I was merely pointing out that Gobots had its fair share of scale issues as well.

And I wouldn't say scale eludes them - more likely it's just not a primary concern of theirs (or Takara's).

But most of the early scale issues are due to their respective cartoons and how the character models were treated, as well as the fact that the original TFs were cobbled together from a couple different toy lines (which set the precedent, really). At least Sunbow tried to keep a sense of scale (failing spectacularly in some cases).

And if we're going to get into inconsistancies with vehiclular scale within a line, need I point out a certain TF combiner with a space shuttle for an arm, and a korean war era army jeep as a leg? ;P
Like I said, Gobots are no better than TF's when it comes to scale. Both are bad at it. But I'm surprised you didn't also give a shout-out to Astrotrain, Octane and especially Broadside. ;)

OH! ASTROTRAIN! The decepticon who's made with tardis technology! He slipped my mind!

Starscream: "Everyone! Get in Astrotrain!"
Astrotrain: "....you're joking... right?"

Later, aboard/inside Astrotrain-
Scrapper: "Constructicons! Merge to form Devestator!"
Astrotrain: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

All of the above. Sure there were inconsistencies, but it wasn't nearly as much of an issue as it was with Transformers. I remember pulling jets and tanks around with Ultra Magnus, which even as a kid bothered me. That being said, it's hard to argue the quality of a line with transforming dinosaurs and insects! Regardless of my feelings, Transformers could very easily win this thing (and probably will), with G.I. Joe being the only other line with enough muscle to have a shot against them.

I will admit Hasbro made a good attempt to keep a consistant scale with Animated (And in fact, there are situations I prefer Hasbro's scale, over the canon show's. Like Waspinator and Swindle both feel much better as autobot sized, and not huge decepticons)

And while I strongly dislike Prime, I'll happily admit Hasbro is trying to keep something of a consistant scale... as well as they can working inside only *two* size classes. (THIS IS WHY THEY NEED SCOUTS! Bumblebee needed to be a scout, with Ratchet as a deluxe, and Arcee as a legend, or cyb commander)

Gobots get my vote, Rock Lords were cool in a different way but the majority if not all were still rocks.

Gobots for sure. They can get you from land sea and air.
