I'm pretty sure the next wave will be the AVP arcade based wave which is listed on BBTS as having a January 2018 release, we'll see if that pans out but early 2018 sounds about right.

Is there an Alien Queen that fits in with the Hiya figures? The one from NECA seems like it'd be too big (not to mentions it's pretty pricey).

The NECA queen will be way too big, she's in the 7" scale. I remember McFarlane made a 3.75" scale queen for AVP but I'm not sure how easy it is to get.

snake5289 02-23-2018 07:44 PM

I'll look into that. Thanks.

snake5289 02-25-2018 08:15 PM

FINALLY got the Hiya City Hunter yesterday and aside from a stuck shoulder that took some effort and a hairdryer to get working it's an awesome figure that was well worth the wait. It's damn near a miniature version of NECA Predators.

One problem I noticed earlier today though it has a funny smell and I was hoping you guys may have an idea on how I could get rid of it. I read that putting it in a plastic bag with a dryer sheet or two might work?

donmeca2020 03-03-2018 06:00 PM

Anyone consider getting that new predator being released soon? toyfair pics said elder predator however dorkside has it listed as golden angel predator...

im loving the paint scheme on it and that's what caught my eye most. however i was also on the fence of possibly cutting Preds from my collection because my marvel legends are starting to over run everything else in my comic/toy room.

Same character but at different points in time. "Golden Angel" is what he was called when he was young and an active hunter but then by Predator 2 he has grown old and become the elder of his group often called "Greyback" or just "elder."

This isn't the same elder that was put out a few years back and had 2 different paint schemes a few years back is it ?

This is the 3rd figure of this character from NECA. The first one they did was in series 3 back in 2011, on the older less articulated body with some minor inaccuracies for the character. In 2014 they did an "elder predator v2" which was just a total upgrade over the series 3 figure, he sported the newer leg articulation and his gear features were more accurate. Those two figures were based on his appearance at the end of Predator 2. Now this new "Golden Angel" release is based on a comic that Dark Horse made which explained how he got his old flintlock pistol back when he was young during ye ol' pirate times. As a figure this new one will be on the new ultimate style body and shares some traits with the previous releases but without directly sharing parts (such as still having his mandible piercing).

Thank you for the info my brotha!!

Just bought the neca cracked tusk and scavage predator online and noticed some difference in paint compared to others I saw on the internet.

Cracked Tusk:
-The buckles in the belt and pouch is gold. Mine is silver
-Some small rectangular parts on the LEFT bracer are painted gold. Mine is all silver
-The small orb piece at the top and the upper side spikes of the biomask are painted gold as well. Again, mine is silver only.

Scavage:
-The metallic part of the loin cloth and the thigh armor is gold. Mine is like faded copper almost getting silver.

Other than the gold issue, the sculpt, paint apps and the articulation are legit quality. I don't think these ones have bootlegs/KO's. I'm thinking these versions are later production runs. What do you think guys?

SpasticPlastic 12-27-2018 09:33 PM

Assuming that they are not KO's and without seeing them, I'd guess it's due to NECA's figures being hand-painted, and that leads to a lot of variation, especially because they do layers of dry brushing. You could try asking Randy on Twitter. He will usually help verify the authenticity of figures.

Edit: I just checked mine. My Cracked Tusk has silver buckles, but the rest is gold, including the accents on the biomask. Scavage's loin cloth is definitely more silver, while the thigh armour is gold. So, I'd say, normally occurring paint variations.

Freedator 12-28-2018 01:50 AM

Here are the photos. The small rectangular grill on the wrist of the cracked tusk has a tinge of gold in it though. The loin cloth on the scavage is more like lighter brass (rather than copper that i mentioned) and the right thigh armor has more gold in it than the left one.

Those look legit to me. I never got Scavage but my Cracked Tusk looks mostly just like that. The gold on his belt piece is just a light touch so I would imagine there were plenty of them where it wasn't really applied well if at all.

That's good to know.

i always had a problem standing Scavage. other then that he was a beautifully made figure that needs a figure stand in order to display him.

I had the same issue with Nightstorm (whom Scavage is a repaint of) and a NECA stand did the trick. I think the issue with the super Predators' standing is that their feet are relatively small and as Predators they are fairly top heavy designs so it's just easy for them to tip over.

You're correct sir ! I ended up using a Kaiser stand though. That did the trick for me.

SpasticPlastic 12-28-2018 03:58 PM

I have Nightstorm on one side of the Clan Leader Throne and Scavage on the other. It looks like they are on guard duty, but in reality, they are ever so slightly leaning against it to avoid toppling over.

I had to do something like this with my Marvel Select Venom. His ankles were so loose that I had to give up and have him leaning against the wall like he's just chilling, with his McFarlane grinning head it totally works.

donmeca2020 12-28-2018 04:31 PM

i've kind of taken a break on the line but i do want that golden angel predator and now i just saw that new heat vision looking predator. thing is i haven't had time to even walk into a target to look and i notice none of have been available yet online.

None of NECA's merchandise will be available on Target's site, even exclusives. This has definitely made it harder to check in advance if I should bother going out to a store or not, we're back to having to check the store like once a week for exclusives. A nonexclusive figure like Golden Angel could be ordered at any online store that carries NECA but something like the new thermal vision Predator is only going to be officially sold inside of a Target where you find one.

Freedator 12-31-2018 02:07 AM

There are rumors that there's already a bootleg/KO version of the Neca Clan Leader. Is this true? Do we have photos?

Freedator 02-08-2019 08:28 AM

Well it's official. Neca Clan Leader predators are now being bootlegged. Check ebay for these and you'll see many that will ship from china. I just don't understand why Neca is ok with this instead of doing an official re-issue.
