I'm curious as to how the variety in foot hole peg sizes is distributed across time in the Legends line. Are all of the hole sizes for 2018 the same, or do they vary? Or have they all been the same for several years now? I know there's variety, but I don't know how much there is. Nor do I know how many different sizes they've had. I'll know a bit more once I get my hex stands in, but I just started collecting a few months ago so I don't have figures older than around 2014 to compare hole sizes before that.
There's a guy with a few videos who has bought tiny magnets, stuck them in the peg holes, and places figures onto metal plates to act as really flexible display stands. That's a really compelling option I'm still considering but haven't taken the plunge on yet. What's particularly nice about this is you can get Spider-Man to cling to metallic walls with this technique. |

Hopefully you didn't pay too much for those hex stands from Can of Beams! These are super cheap and were originally packaged with the Walmart exclusive Avengers and Amazing Spiderman lines and lastly were included in the epic heroes wave when the figures were still on card and not in box. They are not perfect as getting them locked together correctly can be a chore sometimes, but they work great. As for the varying peg holes, I think they are mostly consistent with the occasional female foot being too small from time to time, but a little hot water and they will open up. The biggest issue I have had from these are suited figures because the dress shoes have like half the depth of a normal peg hole, and M'Baku, his peg hole is so shallow you can see the "cup" for his ankle articulation in the hole. I have just drilled out the hole for the suited figures, but haven't figured out how to make M'Baku work with them. Also your comment about the stands used at conventions are typically just clear plastic and the figures are hot glued on them. Not as must a stand as it is a base plate. |
The Can of Beams stands cost about $1.25 apiece, or slightly less than $1 if you buy them in bulk.
I saw those colored 3-peg bases but didn't realize they originally came with earlier Hasbro Legends figures, interesting. I passed on them for two reasons--one, I prefer clear bases for dynamic posing. I hate clear flight stands being in the pose enough, so I definitely didn't want a colored base in there. Two, I wanted smaller stands for dynamic posing, but those three-peg stands have a fixed distance between them which limits poses. I was really close to buying the Marauder bases because they solve both of those problems, plus the interlocking feature they have seems useful in some situations as well. But the Can of Beams stands solve the different-sized peg hole problem so I went with those. I keep most of my figures in bags and boxes and only keep figures out when they're in dynamic poses in my display cases. I cycle them in and out of the displays from time to time. I've heard that the top-end action shot photographers use tension wire to keep figures in place...really want to see a how-to on that, because while I love dynamic posing, I hate seeing stands in the shot at all. |

Another veronica Mars swipe! lol. I kept the dagger head though and just wiped off the moon. I do need to track down some better holsters as well but I am liking the Captain America shelf tons more now!

I think King Kong Bundy dies a few days also. I love those iconic 80's theme songs and instruments on TV shows. TV just is lacking. Even sports have lost those great beats. Airwolf...that theme was epic. The synthesizers were just wow. I think we have hit the point of human advancement as a lot of things seem to have stopped and even regressed. |

I ask because if it's 25 years, I'm going to start feeling old this year because they can start playing the songs that came out when I started college. I don't want to feel that old LOL |

Just saw Captain Marvel! Wasn't anything trailblazing but I had a fun time and Brie Larson did a good job! I will say there was one scene towards the beginning involving some Skrulls and Carol, and, without spoiling anything, leads me to believe the director has a certain fetish (think Tarantino haha)
