I have been touching up the yellows on my Hydra soldiers to make them more comic accurate. The one in the front is the most recent and the best executed so far.

I actually like the way this looks better than the original paint job. Great idea! How did you remove the flesh tone paint around her thighs? I've used Acetone in the past and it can ruin the finish on some plastics, so I'm hesitant to try it on Ms. Marvel. I've had good luck with Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, but it takes For-Ev-Er.

These 3-packs are hitting around the Kansas City Area, BTW.

Man that must be annoying. But you've done well all things considered, so pat on the back lol.

I have a friend who is also colourblind, and I helped him with some areas (including drawings and identification) during our Geology degree, and he excelled. So if you need any identification of colours, a friend would surely be willing to help you out whenever you need it.

I was speaking selfishly when I said I'd love to see what those figs would look like with some yellow drybrushing :D

I always use Goof Off for stripping paint. Dilute it with a bit of water first though. Best paint stripper by far...

Thank you, sir! I will have to give that a shot.

Forgot to mention, use q-tips, and always switch to a new q-tip once it gets covered with paint. Oh, and try to keep your strokes going in the same direction.

No worries, I put these up here for some input. I don't think what I do is the be all to end all. I love when people make suggestions I didn't even think about, like the Yellow highlights. So are you referring to washing the Yellow parts with some Yellow over what I have done to tone down/even out some the Black wash, or Yellow wash over entire figure? Trying to add a Yellow over Yellow and matching paints is where it gets tricky being colorblind. To me I may think they match perfect. To anyone else they may look way off. I could def give it a look. Love learning stuff everytime I do customs. Thanks.

CMIII 11-03-2014 01:25 PM

well in the last few days I picked up two of the Hottest Action Figure women in Marvels Movie Universe.. Gamoura (Zoe Saldana) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson) that probably the only way any of us will ever pick up either

ChuckSass 11-03-2014 02:13 PM

Ugh, I was bidding on this fantastic Dani Moonstar custom via Ebay, (satana head/All new x-men jean body) but lost it at the last second.

-_-

I bet I know the exact one. First thing I thought of when I saw it was the people here who have mentioned they want Dani. Sorry you lost out on it. It was extremely well done. The Sunspot custom that was up was pretty good as well.

Thanks again for the tips. I did this yesterday and it worked out well. The paint on my Ms. Marvel's thighs wasn't really that bad, but I just liked the way yours looked better. I've found a few more uses for the Goof Off, too. I only wish I'd have known about it sooner because it would have come in handy on a few of my other custom figures. :)

ah, well in the meantime, let me complain again about how we never got Dani

Did I hear "Marvel Legends Dani Moonstar" in my head? I just was popping in since there is absolutely nothing going on ML wise except the three pack, and what do I see? :D

Sucks that you missed out on that auction though. I really wish there was some way Hasbro would release her.

Spyne98 11-05-2014 04:48 AM

I'm still hoping for her and Blade and the last member of the Wrecking Crew! One day.

It would be so fantastic if they would just release a wave of those canceled variants. Even as a Diamond or online exclusive or something, even limited numbers (well, more limited than usual.) Even if you had to buy a whole case.

As if that's not something that's been said so many times before. But still, it would make so many people happy.

I have wondered for awhile now why they do not opt for Hasbro Toy Shop exclusives for these "less retail desirable" (I am assuming that is the reason they have not been released) characters that the general public may not want but collectors would snatch up.

It should be pretty easy to do a pre-order system and set a goal in order to produce them so long as said goal is not some unrealistic number. At least we can dream.

Hell, I'd buy them loose. Save money on making the card and plastic.

jmurray90720 11-05-2014 06:59 PM

What I never understood was why Marvel Legends has never had any retailer exclusives besides brick & mortar, and Sunfire. It seems like a run of 3,000 wouldn't be that hard to sell through given how popular ML is and has been. WWE gets online exclusives all the time.

Does anybody know what the process for producing a retailer exclusive is like? Like, if I ran BBTS and had millions of dollars at my disposal, could I work with Hasbro to get any set I wanted produced, pending licensor approval? The worry that they will not sell through forces them to go with safe and/or popular characters, but if I was a selfish millionaire, could I force a Queens of Hellfire 3 pack with Selene, Emma Frost and Madelyne Pryor into development?

kylactus 11-05-2014 07:07 PM

I don't think there is a lot of money in the retail exclusive game, I think they are more to attract consumers to a particular store. My guess is that the exclusive retailer gets the re-tooling cost passed on to them so they are left with two options, absorb the cost (so they can sell it to you at the same price as a comparable normal unit) thus cutting into there profit, or charge more for the "exclusive" version of the product. Either way the point of exclusives is to get you to buy the rest of the line of that particular product at there store.

Captain Nash 11-05-2014 10:20 PM

It's probably just me, but it's always the ones that I really am excited about that get cancelled. And the ones that get released are figures that already have a version out in some form.

It's hard to get excited about ML variants because you never if they'll end up cancelling or not. I guess I should be happy they never showed us a Polaris and then took her away. I would have started a "Free Lorna" strike outside of Hasbro's doors.

Did I hear right somewhere though they are doing away with the variant swap outs?

I think they said at SDCC that they are doing away with swaps in the running change in production way, and making a full case of 8 have the swaps included. So a case would be 6 standard and 2 variants. But this seems to go against the 2 of each hero setup they have been working with for years. Maybe they realize that ML is for collectors and all the Cyclops/Wolverine and Starlord/Iron Man shelf filler is doing no one any good. I think they said the Avengers line will do this with the Thor/Odin BAF also. so if you get a case you have the parts to swap heads.

I am 99% sure I know the body HAsbro used for the THor/Odin. Pretty soon the wave should hit shelves....from what I remember last year...it's coming in less than 2 months.

All the X-Men ones were TRU exclusives, so if you don't have a TRU or can't shop online then yeah that sucks. Not sure how to help you there. I know vary rare online retail had the Jubilee BAF ones. It does suck if you're a collector and not in the states for the Hasbro stuff it seems. Although Asia is another country that seems to get a good decent amount of Hasbro stuff in their retail I think.
