Well, you have Mattel’s Eternia release going up by the minute and then Haslab’s ghost rider going down by the day. That Heroscape seems to be bombing as well. Two haslabs failing at once needs to have a postmortem.

Well I see only one of those as value for the money. Hint its made by Mattel.

I don't even know what Heroscape is beyond being another board game that isn't Heroquest. :D

Lame, I wanted Goblin Queen, but oh well. That's how it goes.

They're both a bit overpriced honestly. I think the difference really is Eternia is a literal grail for MOTU fans finally made obtainable and so is worth the investment.

Agreed. Eternia is 10x the size of the Engine of Extravagance but priced less than 2 of them.

Hopefully Hasbro learns their lesson: stop overcharging and under-delivering.

5,170 now. LOL. Awesome.

Pretty good. Lol.

Every time I see this thread I read it as “ Marvel Legends Haslab - Ghost Rider - Fail - 2022

As Eternia passes 8 thousand backers, this Haslab drops back below 5 thousand, this is looking less and less likely to make it

Cyclopswc 10-21-2022 01:22 PM

Looks like Hasbro accepted its fate too. No talk or sudden announcement to try to salvage this that I'm aware of.

Dolemite 10-21-2022 02:27 PM

Good. Hopefully Hasbro learned their lesson.

Hope the Legends Team doesn’t follow up their Rancor with their Reva Saber.

Well, honestly, what can they do? Anything they do after a certain point really is desperation and would hurt the integrity of the HasLab model in the long term. At some point reality has to set in and things just have to fail.

What is there to say though?

What lesson did they need to learn?

This is exactly why the Hell Charger was a Haslab item. They knew it wouldn't have the demand to make it to store shelves and this proved it.

I think the lesson they need to learn is that fandom has its limits, I know somethings worth is subjective, as the old saying goes ‘it’s only worth what someone is willing to pay for it’, but there has been an overwhelming response that this is just not worth the price tag, the cost itself isn’t the issue, look at Eternia, people are willing to part with large amounts of money for collectibles, but you better damn make sure it’s worth it.

MeLikeJinx 10-22-2022 12:09 AM

I always thought the Rancor was a mistake from the beginning... I mean SW has so much better stuff you could make for a Haslab offering at both the 3.75" and 6" scale, but Marvel is different though... after Galactus and Sentinels things become less clear. I mean even Marvel Universe only made Galactus and Sentinels and then stopped with the giant figures. Even right now I still don't know what they could have offered instead of the Ghost Rider Charger as a Marvel Legends Haslab offering.

Big figure fatigue aside, they could have done Fin Fang Foom or Giant Man, the obvious choice is The Blackbird, one to go with their animated X-Men line would be nice, but if they are charging $350 for this car then you can bet a Blackbird would be pricey, but probably more justifiably so than this, also the Fantasti-Car maybe. After that I start to get a bit stumped, maybe they should start play sets, a Tony Stark lab with display cases for other Iron Man suits, perhaps a Danger Room. The Marvel universe is huge, I’m sure if a bunch of people get together and actually get paid to brainstorm new projects, they could come up with something.

I guess, but personally speaking, I have even less interest in them than I do with the Hell Charger. At least I care about Ghost Rider.

I keep seeing people say the Blackbird, but do you know how big that would have to be to be in scale with 6inch figures? Not to mention it would cost like $800, if not more. If people are unwilling to support a car at $350, there's no way they would support a plane that is twice that.

Sorry, but showing me a video from Anthony's Customs is the worst idea because that asshole can go eat a dick! I don't even think he likes toys, he just wants to hate on them and then sell his own merch.

I still don't get it. It's not like they are forcing anyone to support the Haslab. You either do or you don't. It either gets funded, or it doesn't.

Dwight and them were pushing it because that is their job. They are required to do that. That's like getting pissed off when a store employee asks you if you want to get the store brand credit card. They're doing what they are told to do, not because they are trying to scam you or anything.

You’re missing the point, it’s not the fact that they were asking for $350 that’s the problem, it’s the fact they are asking for $350 for this car. Eternia cost $550, plus $50 shipping, so far it has over 8 thousand backs, people are willing to pay the price if they deem it worthy, so yes, a Blackbird would cost more, but it’s way more iconic than an 8 year old Ghost Riders car, and I honestly think it could be a success, X-Men related unlock-able tiers an all.

No one said they are forcing anyone to do anything, clearly they aren’t because so far it’s been a bit of a failure, but people are allowed an opinion my guy, and are allowed to express them, and what better place than a toy forum.

T0ySick 10-22-2022 08:45 AM

Eternia isn't just worth it becuase people like it and that makes it worth it. For the amount of plastic used and tooling cost alone the price is justified.

I have no interest in it. But I know its worth what they are charging.

TheBlueMarvel 10-22-2022 09:10 AM

Why are detractors continuing to comment on this thread? It’s done. You won; the lab has all but officially failed. Apparently, victory in this case wasn’t sweet enough of a reward. I personally can’t wait to see a HasLab Blackbird for twice the amount of this one and the pretzels X-fans will contort themselves into to rationalize why it’ll be worth it.

If we are all being honest with each other, is any of the stuff we buy really worth it? Probably not in most cases, take Super7’s Thundertank, no way that’s worth $500, did I consider buying it? Yeah I did, am I still considering it? sadly yes I am, my only justifications is the thing is huge and it’s the freaking THUNDERTANK.

Hey look, over 5 thousand people thought this car was worth backing at one point, well over 4 thousand still do, but something tells me that Hasbro themselves felt this was lacking, hence the Mephisto fig being locked behind it. I won’t comment on this again, I don’t want to rub people up the wrong way.
