damn that Marvel Legends Spider-Man videogame Kingpin figure is huge. taller bigger than Spider-Man for cripes sake

JAG2045 02-23-2025 04:32 AM

Is the new Kingpin the exact same mould as the Joe Fixit and BAF/TAS Kingpin? The arms look the same but a friend and I are trying to tell if the torso is new

themadbubbler 02-23-2025 11:23 AM

This set of reveals isn't super-thrilling for me. I haven't played this game at all, and there isn't a lot of character variety. Some of them look cool, but at $24.99 with no BAF, I'll probably just pre-order Black Cat, and "wait and see" on the other regular figures from this wave. X-23 and Warpath don't seem 'upgraded' enough for me to pick up. Venom is kind of cool, but not interesting enough to me for the price tag. Spirit Spider looks cool, and is a maybe. Kingpin looks OK, and is a maybe. With all of these figures from one video game, it'd be nice to get an MCU Iron Legion or Igor Armor Iron Man after all these years.

Thatannoyingguy 02-24-2025 01:37 PM

Symbiote Spider-Man is the only coolest one. That Boricua Spider-Man may be worth getting because it’s based on AF mold, which is a really good figure and it has sculpted web lines and symbol for the first time.

It's on the Gamerverse Joe Fixit BAF body that was also used on the Mister Hyde BAF & Deluxe Comic Joe Fixit. The Kingpin BAF & Retro are on a slightly different and smaller body. Although the body is similar, they don't share any parts. The only thing this Kingpin shares with the two previous releases is the cane.

I think the new pieces are the heads, jacket, lower torso with belt buckle, open right hand & both left hands with the sculpted pinkie rings. I'm unsure on the upper torso as I can't see underneath and can't say for certain on the right fist hand versus the two previous Hulk releases.

Thatannoyingguy 02-25-2025 05:37 AM

Just wish Kingpin’s head wasn’t so big. The hands are oversized compared to the body. Maybe a long waiting game until it finally goes on sale.

Zigerlion 03-04-2025 11:04 AM

The new Daredevil's eyes look so weird. It's like big puppy doe eyes or something. Superheroes should have narrow brooding/angry eyes, not big round wide eyes. Look at the "Born again" promo poster, his helmet clearly has the frowning eyes art. This is a pass for me.

StudioOneTwelve 03-04-2025 04:10 PM

Hang on is Daredevil gonna be a Pulse Exclusive? Am I just reading that wrong?

snake5289 03-04-2025 06:41 PM

I'm good with the previous version I have from the Man-Thing wave. Still need to grab a Matt Murdock from the last Spider-Man movie though.

digger318 03-04-2025 08:32 PM

they fixed the n shape tummy for DAREDEVIL!?
THEY FIXED IT!?

ok buy buy buy

ghostbogey 03-05-2025 08:22 AM

New DD fig???...
Oh Yeah!!! ;^)

Weapon X 03-05-2025 01:56 PM

DD really would look better with the DD logo. Might buy it tho. Really love Cox's DD and sold my old version of him.

I think you mean "Born Again", even if they mean the same thing.

No, you're right to be picky. Born Again is a very specific phrase with specific connotations.

Toydon2099 03-14-2025 06:12 AM

I don't know, only me feeling "overrun"?!

I don't know how it was years earlier since I didn't follow the news then like now. But now I see they keep throwing out "new" stuff more and more, but nothing for me with all that. Widely much more unambitious compared to their other toy lines (besides the sometimes severe lack of quality I see especially on Marvel Legends). So much stuff, but not really hitting.

Same on the current waves. The X-23/Warpath pack: Hardly all new, just parts of arms/legs/gear on Warpath. It's mostly the updated Omega Red ("new" retro Venom) body, still with pins. On X-23 I'm not sure, but again those ol' junky "rake" claws... seriously?!

Well, nothing really interesting right now. I'll completely skip on Gamerverse so far, mostly too generic old style even for Spideys. The big Venom is something new though, but the price for just the oddly cheap lookin figure with lousy accessories... quite ludicrous.
But just me...

I've seen scalpers create new listings for a pre-order item, obviously intending to get the pre-order themselves & immediately sell it at a higher price. But their fake listings will stay up longer than the original sellers so you have a "longer opportunity" to get it.
Pre-orders shouldn't even really sell out, IMO, since it's basically saying how much demand is for an item & not yet relates to what exists in reality.

No, there shouldn't. I'll explain this for the millionth time: The markup required to make a profit on something like that super duper ultra deluxe Spider-Man is too much. If you bought it for $50 plus tax and free shipping you'd need to sell it for $70-$75 just to make your money back. At this point you have a "seller" with the business acumen of Bud Light or a buyer who either has a mental disorder-sorry, I guess we call it FOMO now-or was too stupid to search (or wait) for a cheaper price. I'm not sure why I'm supposed to have pity for either of them.

And no, these companies don't care. I thought this was painfully obvious years ago.

Staff Edit: Please keep commentary general, not about specific members. Thanks.

Selling out on Amazon and Hasbro (especially the latter) is not proof of popularity, that's true. On paper this looks like a very good rendition of one of-if not the-the most popular comic book characters of all time so I think it's fair to say there are a lot of sales from folks who actually want this.

Whether or not something is expensive is a matter of opinion. If you think that Spidey is worth $50 then that's your decision, same if you don't think it's worth $50. Example: Your favorite toy is McFarlane's '89 Batmobile and the Batman that came with it. If you paid $50 for that pile of crap you shouldn't be lecturing others on what they spend money on. In my opinion, of course.

Despite being told repeatedly what a scalper actually is you still think it's someone who sells a figure for more than what they paid for it regardless at what point in time they sell it. That is unequivocally false.

Then you follow it up with "Hey if folks wanna pay methhead prices let em". If you think it's okay for people to pay whatever they want then who cares about scalping?

And lastly you bring up the fact that you prefer to spend your money on things "worth it" to you, like Street Fighter figures (an odd thing to bring up in a Marvel Legends thread) that you exaggerated the accessories and value of. What part of "worth is a matter of opinion" is not clear to you? Do you even like Street Fighter or do you just feel the need to spend money on toys for no reason?

Staff Edit: Please no direct personal attacks. Thanks.

These folks using the frankly obscene BBTS markups to claim all the Medicom figures cost that kind of money are disingenuous at best, or ignorant rubes at worst. Shop around dudes, there's more than one retailer in existence.

As for the Hasbro one, eh, it's okay if you're into MLs I guess, nice bunch of accessories and extra articulation over standard Legends. I've just never liked their gummy plastic and hella weak paint apps.

The toy collecting community is overrun by-we'll use your words-ignorant rubes. You don't even need to leave this forum to see that. HISS Tank is even worse. No financial responsibility, no patience, no attempt to adapt with the times, no ability to differentiate between collecting and hoarding, I could go on.

And because of that they can't "shop around". Medicom/MAFEX is the perfect example of what you're talking about. If you show a little restraint you can find almost anything you want on eBay for equal or lesser MSRP. But these goons can't do that because they were told eBay is a "scalper haven". In reality it's a few stupid people taking advantage of a few more stupid people and the majority of sellers are just trying to dump some weight for one reason or another.

Many of the toys news sites are to blame also. They aligned themselves with Disney messaging back in 2020.

Short sightedly, Disney, Hasbro, WB seem to drive fans away through messaging, prices and terrible entertainment with messaging. I got tired of posts being removed and moved on.

Listening to Anthony Mackie, he has done no favors to the next stinker.

50 bucks for 30 dollar figure is crazy. Good luck Hasbro to. Not plopping down 50 bucks for a 30 dollar figure.

Making garbage content has not helped, that's for sure.

If you're forming your opinion based on what toy sites and Youtube reviewers say then you're just reinforcing the point that collector's are not very bright. ShartimusPrime should've been shunned years ago but to my knowledge he's still the most successful of the bunch, even after what he just pulled with this $50 Spidey situation.

Looks like there were some flare ups recently that needed me to actually moderate a bit in here.

General guidance for everyone - please do not name call, flame bait other members. For example:

TOYARK MEMBER IS (OR IS NOT) A THING = No.

If you are about to type anything like that, don't. Please.

I don't want to moderate, the crew here is small and vocal and generally can take and give without feelings. But if it gets hot we have to clamp it. So please chill on the personal attack fronts.

It looks like common sense at least for now prevailed, Nobody's pre-ordering the $50 Spider-Man figure anymore. Oh shit, I just realized that their price on this figure went up another $5. At this point I'm just gonna have to wish for a train wreck like I did with the Kenobi tv show. :haha

Yep. Ngl, I won't be happy until that figure hits $100 dollars so that I can laugh at these idiots. It may not go that far, but it's probably gonna go at least another $10. Lol.

But BBTS ALWAYS mark up everything. They're NOT an indication of how much things cost in the real world.

Max Spidey is still $50 at Amazon.
