Batman Legacy figures (and regular DCUC) are $9.99 each on KMart.com this week.

It's AA for me all the way. Detailing and sculpt is better. That Robin does look good, but I've got the AC Robin on preorder with the Harley.

I've slowed down on collecting MU's since the price-hike here, might as well dump that cash into the cool new stuff from DC Direct. :)

Batman Legacy Singles Series 03 - Set of 4 - Batman Batman Legacy

Oh my gosh, I only just saw the Batman Legacy III figures. They look amazing. I'm totally in love with that classic Catwoman figure, I wanna marry it. And that First Appearance Batman? What a fantastic looking figure.

jimster2010 11-02-2011 05:21 PM

^ I agree with you on Catwoman but that first appearance Batman is a little too bulky compared to how Bob Kane drew him in that costume. I hope that isn't the finished product but they are scheduled to ship in January so it probably is.

LXL_Guy 11-02-2011 05:22 PM

I'm still not fond of first appearance catwoman but, first appearance bats has a place on my shelf. Harley & Nightwing will have to wait.

Crazy Jetty 11-02-2011 08:38 PM

Though I'm fed up with Batmen (I don't even have that many. Just four, and two of them I want!), I cannot resist that glorious first appearance Batman.
The rest of them, meh.
I have the All-Star Nightwing, that's all I need. I can't stand the Arkam design for Harley (She looks too generic. Like Harley Quinn's minion/thug).
Catwoman... huge no thankyou. I'd much rather have modern.

They tried to show her as an actual person. It played a pivotal part in the game, and I liked her look - just not the voice. "The more things change, the more they stay the same" - Arkham City reference

100% Agreed.

LXL_Guy 11-02-2011 08:51 PM

At least Harley fans will support the figure I would hope. I honestly don't mind the design since there's always room for multiple looks to the same character. Keeps it fresh even if you don't like it as much as others might.

I do not have the game, therefore, I have no personal attachment to the game. So... -=shrug=- (But I love they got her original voice for it, unless that was a mislead by the commercials by getting her to narrate the commercial)

And it isn't that I dislike anything but the standard look... I just don't like this look.
Much like I don't like the redesign of Joker or Bane in The Batman, but I *do* like Penguin's design in that.
Much like I don't like Joker's design for Justice League/JLU, but I *do* like his original TAS design.

One of my favorite artists on Deviabnt Art just did a redesign of her, where her costume is basically a hoodie, and to me works way better than this AC look.
I'm not at all against redesigns. I just don't like this redesign.

No reason to jump on me (As a couple people have commented on this), as nowhere I've said that no one else can like it.

Don't worry about it, I was just putting in my own opinion too. They went for a "hot chick" look I suppose, and it works to an extent. I did notice the video game adaptation of Harley has tattoos which I found odd, and if you look into my earlier quote (in regard to the game) you'll see her significance within the Batman back story.

Crazy Jetty 11-02-2011 09:57 PM

@Disco
It's no biggy... if I came off as upset or defensive, I wasn't intending to. I was just trying to clarify myself.

I also get tired of "The Hot Chick" look in a lot of "guy" things. But that's a completely different thing.

Actually, the voice actress for her in this game is Tara Strong AKA Timmy from Fairly Odd Parents. For whatever reason, Arleen Sorkin didn't reprise her role as Harley for this game even though she was Harley in Arkham Asylum and still continues to play Harley in DC Universe Online. I recognized right away that her voice sounded funny. Agreed about the generic look. Basically, she looks like any wannabe goth/steampunk chick where as I looked at Harley's Batman The Animated Series character as more of a simple look of a normal looking girl with very plain make-up. In fact, it was just whiteface with black lipstick and a mask. The costume was very plain with very basic design and actually made her stand out even more (a common trademark of DC character design). There was nothing particularly "goth" or "steampunk" about her and I think this new version is just some designer's fantasy of Harley in some freaky S&M Bladerunner get up.

Also, I think, if I might add (and please don't take this the wrong way), that I think you're more concerned with how a design or redesign is executed than a concern of the "hot chick" look. For example, the original Catwoman costume looks modest where as her newer costumes are rather sensual. Her costumes in the movies have basically been leather fetish cat suits and her costumes in recent toys, video game appearances and cartoons reflect this to a degree. You prefer this execution over the more modest design. However, you prefer Harley's original and far more modest design over the new goth slut look they've got going on. Nothing wrong with that, however. It just means that you're open to any look as long as it gels with you. You and DogFashionDisco are probably one in the same except that your opinions differ on what gels and what doesn't gel. Both of you therefore have perfectly valid opinions, it's just down to taste.

I personally am not a fan of the whole leather fetish look or the Bladerunner steampunk thing. I actually do like the older Catwoman look and the original Harley Quinn costume. When I see it in comics, it almost reminds me of excess. Like back in the day when Rob Liefeld would give everyone cyborg arms, tons of ammo, buckles, pouches, belts, tattoos, glowing eyes, gigantic guns and swords. When I see these steampunked characters, they're just covered with overly dirty clothes, masquerade stuff like tutus, girdles, leather, goggles, pocket watches, etc. It's like the new Liefeld. I remember growing up and this whole goth revival was the new Liefeld. Sandman comics became ridiculously popular among depressed goth posers and all characters were anorexic Alice Cooper looking or steampunked to the high heavens. Don't get me wrong, some of it was great but it was steampunk/goth overload. Just like Liefeld's stuff was cool in doses, but it became too much. What's sad is that DC's Magog was made as a commentary on everything that Mark Waid and Alex Ross hated about comicbook heroes at the time and he became popular. To bring it all back on topic since one would wonder how any of this has anything to do with Batman Legacy figures, this is why I'm such a huge fan of the Legacy series. It features a lot of the Batman characters before they were whored out as well as the newer looks. It's got something for everybody. Not that it's a bad thing for them to change with the times, but a little throwback makes me feel pretty good sometimes. :)

I'm just not digging anything from BL series 3. I love a good catwoman, but I just don't like that costume. :\ And I think the Hush Nightwing was the best made so far. Think I'll be skipping this series.

I liked the Hush Nightwing headsculpt, but the body is a bit Play-Doh like and it would've been nice to see some extra articulation in the legs but it's what I expect from DC Direct.

solidwii 11-03-2011 06:36 AM

I sort of have a love hate relationship with this line...I love the choices on some of the characters and the design of the figures. I hate how they skimp on accessories. Its bad enough that you get no CNC but on top of that you get fewer accessories?

It was very exciting to find out that Robin has articulated wrists in the Bane Wave. Love it when they add nice little extras.

Very nice responce! Very nice to read!
And I largely agree with you. Except I do like the most modern, Jim Lee take on Catwoman, more than any version to date. :D
(Actually, I never thought she's ever really gotten a good costume in her history, but that's neither here, nor there).

It isn't so much that I have an issue with skimpy, and/or revealing costumes (A good example of this is Powergirl. I love PG's modern iconic look. While her older, more concervative look before the top closed over into the hole just feels bland and boring. I'm not entirely free from designing skimpy/revealing costumes, both my Star Sapphires wear very little), so much as it feels like that's where most designers immidiately go, lately.
But, I do think you may have nailed it on Harley's. It *is* too busy. Just like that Liefeld effect, like they just couldn't stop adding stuff, and on top of that, stuff they kept adding had really little to do with the core character.
So instead of coming up with something invokative of the original, but still fresh and new, she seems more like someone hired by Harley, who was trying to make a Harley themed uniform with cheep costume supplies from Party City. She doesn't look like Harley Quinn, so much as she looks like someone who's related to her somehow (Such as the afore mentioned minion example).

It's like the designers either tried too hard, and put too much thought into her costume, or they didn't try hard enough and put no thought into it. (Oddly enough, the two are often hard for me to tell apart)

Have the new Legacy 2 packs been sighted at retail anywhere? I've looked at Target, Kmart and Walmart with no luck. Even Walmart.com, Kmart.com, and Toysrus.com doesn't have them. I'm starting to wonder if you can only get these things at BBTS, EE, or amazon. Though I would rather not pay their prices, and the only one I really want is The Dark Knight set.

I've seen it at Walmart.
