@Shuri

...walks up, looks down..."WHUT'RE THOSE!!!"

Homegurl looks like she should be shuffling around in a nursing home.

I'm not sure I'm looking forward to getting her tomorrow...

Are you sure? What you have going on there already seems to be working. It is certainly terrifying.

Are you saying Shuri is ashy? lol.

nah.. what your implying is like someone hit her with some old school board erasers full of chalk. that would be a coating\dusting. She is more like the color is mixed into her complexion. i actually stood it next to several other F.O.C. (figures of Color.. ha) and i was right.. it's a lil .. "off" to me.

Good to know. I see a lot of goons and mercenaries in this line for my Marvel heroes to beat on.

Haul from Dorksidetoys

What the hell is the point of street-dating this wave? The movie's been out, shit even Marvel says they think it's okay to spoil it at this point.

Vamp 06-07-2019 11:43 PM

I saw the pics of classic iceman this morning on IG, the hairs on my skin started to stand up. now all we need is FireStar!

Quick review of the new Avengers wave:

Rock Python: To me, this is the most boring figure in the wave. I admit that I'm an SS fan and that's probably part of it. But overall, I can't really find anything positive or exciting to say about this figure other than he seems like a sturdy figure.

Union Jack: Another character that I'm unfamiliar with but he seems decent despite being on the Bucky Cap body. There are a few spots where it looks like the red and white paints need to be touched up.

Shuri: I'm assuming that this figure is based on her Endgame appearance. The overall look is pretty similar to what she wore in the final battle of Black Panther but it looks like they replaced the blue sections of her costume with black. As a result, the costume looks a little plain.

Rescue: I was initially indifferent to this figure but the more that I've messed with it, the more I like it. She has really great range of movement in the neck so you can get her head back for flight poses. I also like that the wings are a removable backpack rather than a hinged piece that might pop off. The only thing that I'm no crazy about is the gold paint. There doesn't seem to be any on the Hot Toys figure so I would assume this was how the armor looked when they were creating the concept art for the movie. Fortunately, it should be easy to paint over that with silver paint.

Loki: I know some people didn't like the Captain America body being used for Loki but I think it turned out pretty well. He's a little smaller than Beta Ray Bill (and I would assume that he'll be smaller than the 80th Ann. Thor) but bigger than most standard males which seems pretty good for Loki. The paint work on his scale armor is pretty clean and I love the shades of green and yellow that Hasbro chose.

Beta Ray Bill: Costume choice aside, Bill turned out really nice. I think this is my favorite head sculpt of Beta Ray Bill. The Toy Biz and Marvel Universe versions always seemed a little off to me. And yes, the jaw is articulated. I don't remember who said first but Stormbreaker is too big. The inaccuracy doesn't bother me all that much but his right wrist has trouble supporting the hammer, causing his hand to spin towards the ground. Hopefully some Futures polish will help with that.

War Machine: I sold my IM2 War Machine a while back and never picked up the Civil War version so I'm really happy to have this one. The hinge joints at his neck and shoulders are limited in their range but all of the other joints have decent ROM, even the hips. The armor details also look pretty sharp on this figure.

Hulk: This is their best MCU Hulk to date. Oddly enough, I like the smiling head more than the solemn head. But I would love to see a store exclusive come with an angry head for this figure since the overall look of this figure is the savage rather than the professor. The skin texture and shade of green seems to match over the entire figure and his proportions seem more natural than previous figures.

I was skimming through every recent book I had on hand featuring Bill and actually found a page where Stormbreaker was indeed oversized. In Sam's first Nova volume #12 Bill shows up at the very end and Stormbreaker's size more or less matches with this figure, I think this might have also been the debut of his modern costume or one of its earliest appearances.

From what i saw when i picked up firef....errrr havoc.....there was one of each per case as i saw two of each figure on the shelf.

TheBlueMarvel 06-08-2019 03:23 AM

@jwyss234

I'm unsure if I was the first to vocalize displeasure, but I was the one that said that haft is too long. Especially so if it's meant to be twirled (and it is) - hard to spin something in close proximity without striking oneself when said object is half the length of your body. And while I'm glad that it doesn't bother some, the opinions of others are pretty immaterial to me - no offense. I've softened a bit on the outfit, whether that also becomes the case with Stormbreaker is something I'll determine when it arrives later today.

Ultimately, I'm happy with a new Bill period, but I'm fairly certain Hasbro will revisit a classic Bill at some point in the not so distant future. Beyond a new Wolverine/Cap/Iron Man/Spidey in every wave, many characters are getting 'classic' makeovers in quick succession to satisfy fans: Dazzler, Kraven, Iceman, etc...

Veronica Mars 06-08-2019 03:57 AM

Since it seems we're getting a wolverine in every x-wave, isn't it time to get a new Daken and a Jimmy Hudson?

I imagine that AoA wolverine can't be too far off. Unless they're saving it for an AoA centric wave...which I would have absolutely no problems with at all.

urrutiap 06-08-2019 07:21 AM

Even a Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse Magneto would be nice.

dont forget that there were also Abyss, Age of Apocalypse Cyclops, Age of Apocalypse Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde, Gambit, Colossus was kind of cool looking with a bandana mask on him due to someone throwing acid in his face or something

jmurray90720 06-08-2019 07:38 AM

AoA seems like a good candidate for the SDCC exclusive.

Magneto
Blink
Weapon X
Cyclops
Jean

Nothing too ground breaking, no exclusive characters, rerelease Weapon X and Cyclops in regular waves and let Jean be the rare one in the long run.

Haven’t seen it, but consensus I’ve heard is that it’s a bit of a train-wreck. One review I heard was simply the word, “nope.” It’s over the top, inconsistent, and full of questionable writing and acting.

The whole thing with Pulse is a head scratcher. I get they are a shop independent of Hasbro itself, but the fact that I will have the Far From Home wave next week delivered to me from an Ebayer before Pulse even has it is beyond me.

I've heard Dark Phoenix was a disaster. I'm not sure why Hollywood can't seem to figure out that the character (and the story arc itself) is a bit too deep to just be explained in a mere two hour film. Same thing with Apocalypse...these are Thanos level villains in that franchise's universe, and should be treated as such. Perhaps once Disney starts their MCXMU, Dark Phoenix or Apocalypse will be the endgame...(pardon the pun.)
