I would happily accept new version of Jean and Emma BUT I'm fine with the current ones- they don't bother me at all enough to want them to take slots away from other figures. If they do- great, I'll replace them- but I'm sure not asking for it!

MeLikeJinx 07-01-2019 02:42 PM

For me the wave after the TRU exclusive Jubilee Baf X-men wave is the cut off point. Anything after that doesn't really need to be remade, but anything before is fair game.

Anyway I am glad they are basically finished with the 90's X-men before Hasbro's Marvel license expires next year. I mean who knows... I could see them not renewing or losing the license somehow now that main MCU phase is ending... which would explain why they are rushing out so much product in recent times.

Ha yes, I know what you mean. For me Jean is slightly wonky but if they never remade her I'd be okay. But there are many people asking for her, so who knows. Emma...she's a good figure but was so hard to find. But there's just something verrrrrry slightly off about her that I want to see her redone, again though if they never did I would be okay.

I am NOT okay with the with Hasbro's first two-three waves though and feel like they all need redos if they haven't already, movie figures aside. Also that Brood Queen is still pretty awesome and I can't see them redoing her.

That Jubilee wave was ..2014, I think? Hasbro definitely stepped up their game from 2012 when ROML came back to that year. Ever since 2014 it's been nonstop goodness even if some of it's a pain in the ass to find.

As for losing their license, I hope not. But if they did it's nice they're at least working on getting the 90's X-Men mostly done and proper comic version of their iconic characters. If they were to throw in a Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends as a farewell set to the line, well, I'd be sad to see it go, but that would cross off a major figure for many.

I guess we'll know more come SDCC. if they start promoting stuff for 2020 we'll know they have another year left at least. But you did point out some logical things: no top tier movies coming post 2019 and the X-Men necessities are largly getting done (FA Storm where are you?!?! and GET MAH Moonstar out Walgreens!!) Hopefully though that won't be the case and we will have years of goodies to come.

If Hasbro loses the MARVEL LEGENDS LICENSE without making a first appearance Storm...ima have a FREAKIN stroke!!!

Don’t say they’re gonna lose the license. You’re gonna give me a heart attack ha. My wallet would be happy.
As for the MCU phase ending I don’t think that’d have a huge impact on it. Because I think a lot of people are excited for what’s coming to the MCU in the next coming years.

@Starlord Ditto my friend! Add Firestar to that. If she isn’t made that’s bullshit.

While I was definitely wanting a Jim Lee Storm more than a FA, it was barely. And now that we're getting Jim Lee Storm, FA Storm is probably the biggest missing figure in the line. I mean, she just HAS to get made, right? There's no way they'll end the line without making her, surely.

If it wasn't for the fact that I doubt the Icons line is going to make it past 2020 and they haven't done anything for Flash beyond modern day Flash and RF, I probably would consider the line.

I doubt they are going to lose the license. They make too much money from them. Disney makes too much money from Hasbro.

SymbiSpidey 07-01-2019 04:50 PM

Been slowly acquiring more of that Far From Home wave...for some reason that Molten Man BAF is kinda awesome to me...I really think it's the translucent plastic combined with the dark gold paint that's selling me on the figure....I definitely want to stick an LED light in his torso to make it really stand out. I'm even thinking about throwing him on my comic book villains shelf for Spider-Man if he only ends up amounting to a Mysterio illusion in the movie....

And I was looking at that costume Danny Rand wore in season 2 of the Netflix show with the green hoodie, yellow face mask...I actually really like that look and wish we got a figure of it from Hasbro. It doesn't resemble the classic Iron Fist outfit but it's still a pretty cool look.

Shinzero02 07-01-2019 06:23 PM

I'd really like new Mojo and Modok BAFs.

And a new Blackheart.
Maybe a Best Of MCU wave that reissues some of the exclusive figures like Corvus Glaive and Coleen Wing.

hasbroherofan 07-01-2019 06:43 PM

I don't see why they would relinquish the license when they've still got Marvel movies in the works for the foreseeable future.

Dorkside has Colossus and Juggernaut up for pre-order.

i just saw a comparison from the new wolvy from the older one (x-force). aside from the height.. there'd be no need for me to update a fig that recent.

Sorry buddy, this is the one time I’m gonna have to disagree with ya, and usually we have the same outlook on MLs.

I’m a huge wolverine fan, and as much as liked the TB Xforce Wolvie he was to talk and they just repainted his astonishing wolverine uniform, I’m actually excited getting all new wolverines in all his uniforms mainly because they FINALLY!!! Made him proportional to how he was supposed to be, short stocky and muscular. The first TBs were either short and too skinny, or correct build but to tall. I get two of each of the Hasbro ones as I display one with correct teams and the other in my separate wolverine collection. I just wish they would get his unmasked head a little better. I mean old man Logan was good, as well as the patch head that came with the motorcycle set but the blown back hair snarling one was meh. And that weapon x one was just bad. I like the upcoming madipoor wolverine head but it’s not “maskless” as it has the mesh looking Eye mask.

If you are referring to Hasbro relinquishing, they wouldn't have a choice. It's Disney's final call.

As for why they would, there is strong speculation that Hasbro bought Power Rangers while they could because it's a cash cow that could help supplant Star Wars and Marvel once the licenses retract back to Disney.

It is no secret that Disney wants to keep most everything in house (which would result in more say over product as well as better profit) and one has to look no further than the Disney Princess license (that used to be licensed to Mattel) to see the early signs of this on the toy front (in addition to the Fox absorption, Disney Streaming, etc.) Mattel used to have the licenses to most everything within that spectrum, and one by one those Disney Princess properties have been taken from Mattel and returned back to Disney's hands. There is even deeper speculation that when the Star Wars license expires, it will be picked up by Mattel or another smaller toy company, (which in the case of Mattel especially thanks to it's financial issues,) could end up being absorbed by Disney

This would instantly give Disney their own in-house toy manufacturing division, as well as the resources that come along with it, such as it's factories and an experienced labor force to allow for a quick turnover with minimal downtime and restructuring needed. And with Mattel relinquishing the majority of it's DC licenses back to Warner Brothers and McFarlane Toys, it might be the first pen stroke in what will eventually become the writing on the wall for them if those analysts are correct.

Somewhere around the Red Hulk and Ares wave they seemed to start getting it more right than not, as I feel many of those figures still are fine, with the exception of Kang, and that's because he was actually part of the F4 line and was still originally made at the time Hasbro was on a learning curve.

Anything from ROML onwards I don't have any real issues with aside from scarcity, so I mean no real issues with the sculpts themselves outside of the Jim lee Jean Grey and Puck series Emma Frost.

I agree with you almost entirely. All I disagree with are Toybiz Mojo and Longshot. I like that Longshot is a little weird looking and is a different body type than my other figures. It fits the character. Mojo could use an update with some matching plastic and some of that gross, rubbery "skin" like they used on Cull Obsidian, but it is pretty awesome as is and I have a lot of other characters higher on my wishlist.

I'm aware. I was referring to the initial post saying that Hasbro might no longer have any interest in the license with several of the original Avengers characters seemingly being written out of the franchise, which is what I disagreed with.

Even once you get past movie specific toys, Spider-Man alone is practically a license to print money.

Mattel lost the Disney Princess license to Hasbro, Disney aren't keeping it in-house. It doesn't make much sense for Disney to want in-house toy manufacturing either since it's easier and cheaper to just license them out and get royalties without the risks and up front expenses. I don't think it makes much sense for them to lose all the institutional experience at Hasbro when it comes to making Star Wars and Marvel figures just to shift back to Mattel which lost Disney Princesses because of their own poor practices in the first place.

Obviously I have no idea what is going on behind the scenes but I would be extremely surprised if Disney and Hasbro don't renew their licensing agreements.

The bare headed Ghost head is a little weird looking, but the official photos always make the photoreal heads look odd.

Hela/Skurge & Peggy/Cap are both insta-purchases for me. Loving the 3 new sculpts and hammer accessory for Hela, and I'm going to need quite a few of those lovely Peggy's for parts.
As much as I want MCU Ghost, she's a lower priority and I'll probably just wait on her set to hit clearance.
I can absolutely pass on the Tony/Peter two-pack, glad for those who want it though.

ariellagunas 07-01-2019 11:59 PM

Well I didn't need another Hela but the set is so nice. Plenty options.
Loving the xtra head and hood on Ghost. Great design. Will get two of those.
Don't care for another MCU Cap, Iron Man or Spider-man, but I want Peggy. Loved the to show.
This is defo the year that my ML surpasses any other collection in sheer numbers.
Gotta have to be picky as shelf space is finally running out.

En Sabah Nerd 07-02-2019 12:00 AM

Of those 3 sets the Ghost and Luis pack was the only one I was ever looking at so I am happy to finally see that it will include more than just the shrunken lab. I kind of just expect the final product to have better faces than what's previewed since almost every other preview image of figures with the face printing is off but then the final releases are great so my only note with Ghost's alt head is that something seems a bit off with the hair color. I'm thinking it's that the color shift on her hair shouldn't happen until towards the ends.

DarthKamen 07-02-2019 12:09 AM

So I'm mostly out of Legends collecting, even MCU Ghost can't get me hyped. I've sold a majority of them and haven't bought a new one this year.

But I NEED that Cap/Peggy set. I don't know why but a woman in a suit and a blonde guy in military fatigues is a set of figures I really want.

ariellagunas 07-02-2019 12:10 AM

So there's a shit ton of figures coming out over a short time. It's definitely harder to keep track. I guess that's why they didn't do a big set for SDCC. Nor an exclusive team set either, so I guess that evens it out. Unless they then do, but we should know by now.
So after all this Spider-Man, X-men, Vintage, endgame, X-force, few exclusives and 80th ann, we still have one more Avengers wave in the fall? Jeezus, they reeeally want our plastic money...
