Since when did the Marvel Legends Gladiator Figure become so expensive online? He’s prices on eBay and Amazon are outrageous

Nutimus Prime 07-17-2019 08:05 AM

I find that people inflate X-Men figures values. They will shelf warm for a while then get a price cut on amazon, go on clearance at Target, etc. Resellers jump on them and the price artificially jumps.

It's the SDCC version with the metallic blue paint that generally goes for more. Many people aren't aware of the difference between it and the Apocalypse wave Gladiator.

Captain Nash 07-17-2019 09:01 AM

So I see that the Hasbro ML panel is actually at 430ish on Friday PST - instead of Saturday. Aside from just switching out the big reveals during the panel from Saturday to Friday, that might change up what figures are also shown on Wed preview, Thur, and Saturday.

Spyne98 07-17-2019 09:26 AM

I'm on vacation for a couple weeks and suddenly there's a new Jean Grey. I'm actually very excited for her. I'll be retiring my old one or using her for custom fodder. can't wait to see what Hasbro shows off at San Diego. Remember preview night is tonight so we might get some pictures. I know there are already some transformer reveals.

I think it has to do with the BAF part, I can find him loose all day for $10-$15, but I think that the Apocalypse head sells for around $30 by itself.

SymbiSpidey 07-17-2019 01:05 PM

Already sold off my old Jean Grey for $50. For now, I'll have Phoenix taking her place on my 90s/Main X-Men shelf until the new one comes in.

Also, anybody getting a dreadful feeling that Hasbro's tenure with the Legends line might be coming to a close? We've gotten definitive versions of so many classic characters over the past few years and especially this year and I know Hasbro likes to drip feed us their big money makers. That on top of their recent acquisition of the Power Rangers and their new Overwatch line has me thinking Hasbro is looking for something to replace their Legends money.

jmurray90720 07-17-2019 01:23 PM

No, I just think with rising prices and Chinese tariffs they have to be smarter about the characters and costumes they produce. Waiting 13 years to produce a Classic Thor or complete the Jim Lee X Men for example, not acceptable in this day and age.

I sure hope not but I am also keeping in the back of my mind. I'm also wondering if and when they might come to a close. Hopefully never. But one another hand I honestly wouldn't complain if they went back down to 6-7 waves a year including a vintage wave, as long as all the waves were quality waves and not mostly crap waves like the Kingpin wave. That would also mean a reduction of what is to come, so they could very well be cutting back without bowing out.

Robot Kingdom has the 80th Anniversary Cap in stock for $29 and is currently shipping. With all of the trouble with Walmart exclusives, I'm tempted to get one from RK since the extra money would probably be the cost of gas from hunting. However, I can't shake the feeling that the figure will go up for preorder or appear in stores soon.

Yeah, but you gotta think about shipping from RobotKingdom, too, which will bring it up even more. It's almost more worth it to just go for one of those $35-40 listings on eBay for it, though I'm trying to avoid that since I want 2 of the figure and don't want to pay double the price for that many of the figure (one to customize into my comics-style edit of Cap's Endgame costume that I think should be how his costume looked in Endgame, since they finally went full-classic color layout for Tony but not for Cap):

I hope the rumblings about Endgame Cap (along with Binary Captain Marvel) releasing more widely in fall are true, or else I have no idea how I'm gonna get that figure for a reasonable price.

Anything is possible, but I'd be surprised if that were to happen. I've seen no indication that Marvel/Disney is unhappy with them. If anything, the signs point in the opposite direction with Hasbro getting the green light for things like Cap's MCU replica shield. When I think about the companies that could handle the expectations of the built-in fanbase for Legends, there really aren't many players capable of pulling it off. Distribution, manufacturing, retail relationships, BAFs, MCU, two & three packs, etc - it'd be a herculean undertaking and not feasible for most smaller toymakers...

Yeah, I'm holding off on RK for right now. I keep hearing rumors that the 80th Anniversary figures will be released to coincide with SDCC which, if true, means the release should be any day now.

Veronica Mars 07-17-2019 03:34 PM

2 and a half hours until preview night begins, what do you think we'll see? I'm thinking the love triangle 3 pack at least

The 80th Cap is another one I need two of (I need the plugged-in wing ears from one of the heads for my classic-style Endgame Cap custom), which is why it sucks that it's also a Walmart exclusive, giving me the same fear of it barely/never showing up in stores near me and having to pay double the price on eBay as I have for Power & Glory Cap :o

I hear ya, I'm worried that he'll be hard to find. I just want one, but still.

God I hope they switch up Wolverine and Cyclops. A shirtless and bandaged Wolverine and a jacketed Jim Lee Cyclops would be ideal, but even if they are straight rereleases.......still better than paying $90 just for the inferior Jean.

JCarterVA 07-17-2019 04:57 PM

Rescue arrived today from Amazon. Right ankle is tight. Details on armor are decent. Wish she had come with unhelmeted Pepper.

I think they might show some figures from the last Endgame wave. Maybe an 80th Anniversary Spiderman.

These newly released SDCC Hasbro Marvel Legends Posters of the 90's X-Men #1 appear to show a new Jean Grey Figure.... The head sculpt at least looks different.

TheBlueMarvel 07-17-2019 06:15 PM

Just a little late...
