Batman 89 - It's not perfect, but god damn is this such an incredible movie! It's plotted like something Denny O'Neil and Len Wein would have written in the 70s while Tim Burton dons a fedora to provide an incredible Neo-Noir experience. The best thing about it is it brings Batman into the real world while maintaining its comic book look and feel. Keaton captures what makes Batman Batman while maintaining the essence of the tragic playboyish nature of Wayne. Nicholson is fantastic as the Joker despite being a little old for the character. Nox and Vicky are great supporting characters and I just love the Batsuit. It has the yellow insignia that DC seems to shy away from these days because they're morons. 10/10
The Batman -Like the Burton film, it isn't perfect, but manages to capture the biggest factor of Batman that most movies forget about, his detective side. It's like watching a Neo-Noir thriller with Batman characters in it. It doesn't try to be completely realistic in order to maintain it's comic book roots, something Nolan failed to do miserably. On the other hand, Bruce Wayne takes a major backseat in this one and is probably the worst iteration of the character since George Clooney. Thankfully, it works from a narrative point of view as it feels like he is relearning how to be Bruce Wayne after being Batman for so long. It also helps that the story is gripping and engaging. Not to mention we finally got a proper iteration of Penguin and Catwoman on film on top of having great actors for Falcone, Gordon, and Riddler. 9/10 |
Leonard Part Six I still a decent funny super agent comedy movie

Idenity (2003)- What a shitty twist. The movie was so good until that. This is why I don't like James Mangold

Anyway, it just dawned on me that there are two different movie threads. |
Halloween 5 - This is the first film in the franchise that is a complete misstep. There are areas that it does so much right in it's sad to see it flounder in other areas. It features the most obnoxiously annoying characters imaginable compared to the previous installments. Horrid comedy that does not fit, especially with awful sound effects that they might as well had just replaced in later versions with the Bulk and Skull theme. Overall, it's not a great movie, but it does have some redeemable qualities thanks to a late scene at a farmhouse that is full of atmosphere and suspense. And, for as bad as this movie, it's better than Halloween Ends. 6/10

Just watched the new Salems Lot movie. It wasn't the worst movie of the year, but I can see why they decided to make it a streaming movie as it was bad. No suspense and no build up as everything happened too fast and was all in your face.

Also yeah, I'm not sure what the point of the other thread is. |

Halloween 6 - I forgot how bad the theatrical version of this film truly is. Ugh. A plot that makes no sense. Boring characters who have little to no personality. THe worst Halloween soundtrack to date. It's like they took everything good about the franchise and threw it in the trash. Even the kills are not all that great because only one character that dies was not an asshole. The sad thing is it's not even the worst Halloween movie. Even the 4K itself was not as good, especially in the audio department. 3/10

Halloween H20 - This one is always a mixed bag for me and really depends on the type of Halloween mood I am in. Sometimes I really like it, sometimes I find it boring. This was the former, probably because I just watched 6 yesterday. It's quite ballsy in being the first timeline reset, wiping 4-6 from existence to do its own thing. Additionally, it is nice to see Laurie again even though Curtis seems like she is really just phoning it in to collect a paycheck. Michael's design is kind of meh to the point where I don't think it's really Michael because the real Michael would have killed the mother and daughter at the rest stop and the security guard at the gate. Seriously though, it plays out a little too much like a Scream movie and even seems to have some of the same musical cues, but for what it is, it's not bad. A middle of the road entry.

Halloween Resurrection - Man, what the fuck were they thinking with this one? They turned Halloween into some low grade schlock that feels like it is meant to be a parody of Halloween than an actual Halloween film. Busta Rhymes yells at Michael, and he listens. Later, he freaking hurricane kicks the dude. Seriously, how did they think this travesty was a good idea? Oh, and they kill off JLC in the first 15 minutes after coming up with some bullshit excuse as to why Michael is still alive. I don't get why they felt the need to undermine the ending of H20. They just reset the timeline to omit 4-6, so why couldn't they just have this one be in its own universe?

Rob Zombie-s Halloween - Well, at least it takes itself seriously unlike Resurrection. Problem is, Zombie humanized Michael by making him just some white trash punk ass bitch, which completely misses the point of what Michael was supposed to be. Michael is no different than any other generic slasher movie killer beause of that. Additionally, pretty much every character in the film is unlikable, even Laurie. The dialog is really unbearable when they just start spouting lines from the original film rather than acting them out. The only positives I can give this film is with its soundtrack, how intimidating Michael looked due to his height and build, and the mask because the best looking mask since the original.

Smile - It's really good, but I think I liked it a tad less than I did the first time I saw it. It's about 15 minutes longer than it really needed to be. However, it does have some fantastic suspense going on to keep you engaged.
Rob Zombie's Halloween II - Well, at least it's better than the first one because it tries to do something different. However, the character are even more unlikable now than they were before, especially Loomis. At least Laurie and Annie have a reason to act like complete bitches this time around. Recasting child Michael was dumb as shit though as the kid didn't even look like the previous child. Like the first one, there is a lot of fluff going on, making the movie 30 minutes too long. I will say there are a few good moments of atmosphere like when Michael is in the corn field with the rednecks and the party scene. Too bad the camerawork is too chaotic and unsteady during the party to really enjoy. Oh, and this is actually the first time I have watched the credits to the film and I never realized before Laurie's psychologist was Margot Kidder. No wonder she seemed famila. |
Halloween 2018 - At least, a Halloween movie that is back to basics while getting rid of the stupid ass sibling plot. We've got a Michael that goes all out on his killing spree and it is film so gorgeously. All of the new characters except Sartain are likable as you get to know them pretty well, even those with limited screen time. Sartain is really the only detracting factor of this film, but he is the reason Michael ends up confronting Laurie again, so at least he had a purpose. This is hands down the best Myers sequel!!
|
Halloween Kills - I love and hate this movie at the same time. It's so suspenseful with an incredible soundtrack and Michael is utterly ruthless in it. On the other hand, it's so fucking god damn dumb because everyone acts like a total moron. They all deserved to die.
|
Fear Street - 1994 & Fear Street 1978. These are good horror movies, sort of a Stranger Things meets Slasher movies. I think I liked 1978 better so far. 1666 is on for tonight.
|
Le Portrait de Petite Cossette - One of the greatest OVAs Japan ever produced. It is an utter crime that this series has not been given the Blu-Ray treatment. Worse, you can't even legally buy it anymore in the US, which is bullshit. It's an incredible ghost story about love, murder, and vegeance. Incredible visuals enhanced by a fucking phenomenal score by Yuki Kajiura. Every anime fan should watch this at least 100 times!!
|
Smile 2 - I thought it was creepier than the first one. Not to mention the characters were more engaging and interesting. There is a sequence that made me think of the Weeping Angels. Just a fantastic movie.
|
Halloween Ends - YOu know, I take back what I said about this movie two year's ago. It's actually WORSE than the Rob Zombie movies. Everything wrong with those moveis is amplified here. Every character but like two are unlikable It has a plot that makes no sense. It's downright boring. Worst of all, it humanizes Michael. Like what the fuck man? They just took all of that momentum from the end of Kills and squashed it like a Sartain head. Whomever thought the time jump was a good idea was an utter moron. If they wanted to do a time jump, it should have started with the final confrontation with Michael AND THEN did a time jump with Corey becoming the new Shape to kick start a new set of continuity. Instead, we got whatever the hell this was. This is pretty much one soundtrack away from being worse than Resurrection.
Nightmare on Elm Street - Oh my god, watching this in 4K is just utterly amazing. I've never seen the movie look this good before as it's always looked like a low quality DVD master, even on BD. Not to mention the original mono audio was so damn good too. It's a damn good movie and I really like how Freddy is different from Michael and Jason even though he is my least favorite of the three character wise. |

Finally watched Deadpool and Wolverine for the first time. This movie was great. laughed so much
I never thought the opening of GOTG Vol 2 could be topped, But holy **** Deadpool killing TVA soliders to Nsync's Bye Bye Bye using Logan's Adamantium skeleton has done it. Seeing the wolverine variants was cool. Snipes still has it as Blade Channing Tatum was fantastic as Gambit. I Think this is my favorite Deadpool movie now. Seeing Wolverine wear the Tiger Stripe suit and Mask was a huge nerdgasm. |
