@Ultra Seven - I agree, we need more vintage/classic Spider-Man figures. Too many of the Spider-Man waves lately have been filling up with more modern characters or C-list characters that shelf warm and go unsold. For every popular figure out like Mysterio or Green Goblin, there are 20 unsold Jackal and Six-Armed Spideys seen at local stores. More modern characters like the yet-to-get-a-figure female Electro and the upcoming Superior Octopus figure don't have me as excited as buying a classic Electro figure or a Doc Ock with overdue bendy wire tentacles. And since Doctor Octopus is my all-time favorite Spider-Man villain, the current static tentacles accessories the 2018 figure had are incredibly disappointing. Maybe they could re-release the 2018 classic Ock figure with new alternate head sculpts from different eras (like a John Romita Sr. likeness head or a current Doc Ock head based on the recent "Superior Spider-Man" run) and repainted brighter suit colors to justify the re-release with the new bendable tentacles.

I'm also surprised Hasbro doesn't re-release figures with either new bodies that have more improved articulation and new head sculpts or re-release previous figures with new head sculpts, accessories, repainted suit colors, etc. Just because Hasbro already made one version of a figure, doesn't mean they shouldn't make it again. I see responses like "Hasbro has already had a figure of classic Green Goblin." Yes, they did -- three years ago, that was insanely hard to find (for me at least), is now $60 and up now on Ebay, and not everyone could find it at the time and/or was collecting Marvel Legends figures then. The same for Build-A-Figure characters like the Sandman and Rhino. Not everyone can afford to buy all of the figures, and some of the characters per wave were characters fans didn't know and/or didn't want to buy, leaving their BAF toy incomplete.

I'm hopeful that for 2020, Hasbro releases more classic versions of figures for popular Marvel heroes, villains and civilians, especially if a vintage Spider-Man wave gets made. I'd love to add all-new classic figures of the Chameleon, Sandman, the Lizard, Electro, the Green Goblin, Boomerang, the Rhino, the Shocker and the Hobgoblin to my collection.

However, time (and most likely the New York Toy Fair in February) will tell.

Ooh, a Romita Jr. head for Doctor Octopus would be great. I love Marvel Legends figures with artist-specific likenesses, and I would like it if Hasbro did more of them. It gives the figure a sense of place, makes it feel more like the character. And I cannot agree more on the static tentacles on Doc Ock. They make the figure a little boring, and it limits posing. I have hope for Hasbro doing more retreads of characters, with things like the Fantastic Four that are coming out. I have no issue with C-listers, I think the best part of Marvel Legends is getting random-ass characters, but I do find which ones Hasbro makes baffling (why Lady Beetle? There’s still one at literally every store near me).

I want 60s waves for all the flag-ship characters. The Avengers, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk, and the X-Men I could really see being cool.

Same. The 80 Anniversary classics are close, but they’ve added too much “real world” detail. I want simulated pen stroke shading and cleaner detail. Basically Kirby designs in 3D. I would buy the whole wave.

Ooooooo....Awesome pick up. Love it.

My score from Walmart yesterday. i was shocked to see the 80th Caps still there. Especially for $5 http://https://i.imgur.com/3VxcXp1.jpg

Boy Blunder 10-11-2019 10:26 AM

Well shit. If anyone wants to hook a brother up with Cap, Tony, and Thor, lemme know.

I'll try and track them down on my own (along with Luis/Ghost), but finances went sideways this morning, so I don't know if I'll get a chance before they're all gone.

I’d buy them all. For me, I think the TRU Cyclops might be closest. He looks just like a John Byrne cover, sprung to life. To see the Eternals or the Avengers or the Warriors Three done like that... holy shit.

Ugh....while I mostly like that Iron Man (the head looks comically tiny,) most of the looks of the Avengers in that upcoming game are pretty terrible.

Tim 10-11-2019 05:29 PM

Yay another Iron man! We don’t have enough of them

Vamp 10-11-2019 06:41 PM

I like the body on that ironman but not the head.
the body finally looks like a robot and not like that vintage ironman w/ iron muscles lol
Never did understand that vintage IM look.

jwyss234 10-11-2019 07:30 PM

To be honest, I'm not particularly excited for the new Avengers video game. The gameplay and character designs look clunky, especially when compared to the PS4 Spiderman game. I know they've been making some tweaks to the character designs in order to improve them but I don't know that it will be enough. Hopefully they'll release another trailer or some more gameplay footage that will be more interesting. As for the figure, Iron Man is one the better designs from the game so a figure of him isn't so bad.

StuartGreen2019 10-11-2019 08:58 PM

I am not a fan of the upcoming "Marvel's Avengers" video game and the new Iron Man figure leaves me surprisingly underwhelmed. I would much rather see Hasbro give us literally any other Iron Man armor, from Silver Centurion and the 90s "West Coast" era suit to "Heroes Reborn" and "Heroes Return", as a new "Marvel Legends" figure than the video game version.

Oh joy, more Iron Man variants to clog shelves.

warmachine6 10-12-2019 05:40 AM

The only good thing about the gamer-verse line is that of variant costumes which we might not of gotten in a general ML line i.e for spider-man ps4 we got ends of earth spider-man and that er er velocity suit... along with the base game suit...
I'm hoping we get an updated extremis armoured iron man, hopefully in the game too. A morden Thor would be grand . So we shall see...

Yeah, I'm not to crazy about these "spend x amount and get a gift card" promotions either but I still manage to get some decent savings from them. First, I get them to price match with Amazon which usually saves a couple bucks per figure. Second, I ask if they can just apply the value of the gift card to my purchase (this part doesn't always work).

Damn! Why can't I find stuff like this at clearance? Anyway, nice haul.

I've seen some Black Widow and Hulk gameplay and it looked pretty good to me (particularly the Hulk).

Except it wasn't a gift card, it was "buy $50, get $10 off; buy $100, get $25 off".

As for the price matching, it really depends on who's working the counter any more, to the point where it's not really worth it unless you're gonna be saving a bunch of money on a given item.

Why isn't it worth it? Even if I only save a dollar on a figure, the time and effort invested is usually just looking the item up on your phone.

Captain Nash 10-13-2019 08:48 AM

Well I lucked out at Walgreens yesterday, they didn't have the endcap display up but they had one single solitary Moonstar. Yay, that's 2 of 3 down, with the 3rd really optional. I do hope i can find it though but I can be patient now.

Except at a lot of brick and mortar stores they no longer will allow you to price match against Amazon's prices. Especially Walmart, as they have refused me in the past when I have tried. They used to (I remember getting each figure to the Hulkbuster wave at 9 bucks a piece back in the day) but at some point, they changed their policy on it. I believe Target (officially) no longer accepts these type of price matches against Amazon as well.

So like BB said...it really does depend on whether the cashier is actually following company policies or just trying to hurry the line along because they don't feel like disputing a 2 or 3 dollar difference over a toy.

Nice find! Still looking for Moonstar, myself. I've been out hunting at about 15+ stores for the past few weeks. Found a bunch of the Wendigo wave across many of the stores and a lone Emma at one. Starting to think my stores are bypassing the Moonstar figure, wouldn't be the first time. My Walgreens tend to pick and choose which exclusives they actually put on the shelves.

They had some Wendigo wave figures too. I still haven't seen an Emma in the wild though I've got what I need. I'm wondering if they're just seeing the need for new figures rarely enough to order more than every other exclusive figure cycle - not deliberately because of the exclusive of course. But that's now 7 figures showing a Pattern - Found Reed at store, never saw Thing at store, deluged with Magiks, never saw Mystique at store, quite a few Iron Dooms, never saw Emma and now Moonstar is appearing (or I got lucky since I've just seen the one).

Oh wait...I forgot about Silver Surfer. I saw him a couple of times but I guess that breaks the pattern.

Boy Blunder 10-13-2019 03:36 PM

Everything Triv said. Also, price matching for a dollar off is a level of frugality that borders on concerning.
