^Finally. I figured it would make its way to a FF wave. With Avengers movies giving way, the larger universe of fans can get service now...that is, provided the Xmen don't eat up too much bandwidth.
|
Eh, Spy Master...not the direction I was hoping for the Black Widow wave, but I guess there's generally one odd choice in every wave...
Pretty clever on Hasbro's part to pull the Super Skrull as a Walgreen's exclusive and throw him in as a BAF. He's definitely going to make this wave move. I was only really planning on getting Doctor Doom and Susan for her head and force field effect, but now I'm not so sure. Also, got a feeling Thing is going to get either scalped or constantly re-packaged at stores, since he comes with those Skrull heads. Can see a lot of collectors just wanting those on their own for a Secret Invasion style effect. |
YES! A predictable choice for the BAF, but a great choice nonetheless. Probably the figure I'm most excited for after Doom.
I'm gonna be honest and say I have no idea who the hell Spy Master is. |

...and they gave him the old goofy costume to boot. Someone should tell Spymaster that actual spies are noted for their uncanny ability to seamlessly blend in with the people surrounding their targets. Apparently, he didn't get the memo.
|
No idea who Spy Master is, but I also don't care.
Lame that Super Skrull is the BAF, especially since all he comes with are additional arm attachments? |
Ugh. Was only going to get Doom, Shulkie, and maybe Sue, since I have all the Walgreens FF in my favorite costumes, but hot DAMN do I want that Super-Skrull.
Honestly, if anyone wants to make a deal now for the Super Skrull parts I'll need in exchange for the Demogoblin parts I'll have, lemme know :D |
I think after some afterthought I'm going to pass on the F4 wave except Doom. I think they're all great figures, but every single one of them is a character that's been done before, be it in different looks for most. The TB Super-Skrull will work for me.
You all know me well enough by now that you know that outside of the X-Men, which are mostly redone now, I tend to prioritize new never done before characters over redos and alternate outfits. The fact that they opted to not make a 7 figure wave, and included a version of She-Hulk that doesn't even fit with F4 theme, versus a brand new never done before character, for the first F4 wave in a decade, is a sticking point for me. I was really hoping the BAF was Lockjaw or that there was a 7th figure coming. Again, they all look like great figures, and for those who want them, that's great, but passing on everyone but Doom will save me a lot of money. Doom though is just too good to miss out on. |

Of just the canon characters that have been redone since the Return of Marvel Legends in waves/multi-packs/box-sets: Colossus - 2 Juggernaut - 2 Havok - 2 Cyclops - 7 Jean - 6 Cable - 2 (3 if you count Stryfe) Psylocke - 2 Angel - 4 Mystique - 2 Sabretooth - 2 Beast - 2 Iceman - 3 Jubilee - 2 Storm -3 Magneto - 3 Magik - 2 Dazzler - 2 X-23 - 2 (thought to include Wanda - 2, but I view her as more of an Avenger redraft) I've, of course, left out Wolverine and Deadpool because I can't recall off the top of my head how many there have been. And we are certain to see more revisits as we move forward. Based on this quick list, the X-men might just be the most egregious example for Hasbro's redraft exploits. Edit: not a fan of the character, but Strong Guy looks pretty damn awesome. |
I buy based on certain major criteria, in order:
- is it a character I know and love? - is the design really cool and/or ridiculous? - does it complete a set I've already stated? The first point takes precedence, obviously, which is why I've bought so many goddamn X-Men, regardless of if they're new or a redo/different costume. The second is simply because I LOVE ridiculous costumes (or really cool ones). The third takes a backseat, too the point where if a figure only hits that one, I'll wait until a discount option. Which, given the reveals from the last two days, means that only the ones from today have pinged Point 1 (Super Skrull) or Point 2 (Spymaster). Hopefully the reveals from Lucca will hit some of those points. So far, I'm happy, but not impressed. |

Super Skrull looks ace and that wave in general is really strong but I know the only two I really want are Doom and Super Skrull but as the BAF I'm going to have to be okay without Kl'rt. Time will tell though, I might buckle and get the whole wave anyway.
My local Walmart put all Legends down to $16 but they only had one Binary left since in my area she moved surprisingly well at full price. I picked it up since it was the last one I doubt it was going to linger long enough to reach the $7 price others are reporting. |
I’ve never even seen her at retail price haha.

Oh I don't know, I think Strong Guy needs even smaller ankles...you know, for comic accuracy...;):p

Sorry, but as cool as that Super Skrull Build-A-Figure is, I'm only getting Doctor Doom from the new Fantastic Four wave. I hate those new black and blue F.F. suits and the new She-Hulk is a pass, which is disappointing since I love She-Hulk. That said, I do hope we get more Fantastic Four figures. I'd love a classic Fantastic Four wave with the F.F. in their blue-and-white John Byrne suits (or even their "Heroes Return" uniforms), along with long overdue figures for characters like Mole Man, the Wizard, Annihilus, Trapster, Molecule Man and Psycho Man. Heck, they could make a two-pack of Alicia Masters and the Puppet Master and I'd gladly hand over my money to Hasbro.
|
I suspect if we ever get the blue and white Byrne Four it might just be a single four pack to avoid excess repetition since we've gotten two iterations released as singles now, granted the first set were all Walgreens exclusives.
|
^^^ it will come with She Hulk to flesh out the connection.
The joints on Strong Guy are going to be loose after a few dynamic poses. But the overly massive upper body is pretty much what I'd want for the fig. |
@En Sabah Nerd - I would be fine if they made a four-pack of the John Byrne era Fantastic Four. While it's nice to see the Fantastic Four get a new wave of figures again, I just wish the original suit F.F. figures that were Walgreens exclusives weren't so hard to find. I was only able to find and buy the Invisible Woman, everyone else was always gone.

Greatest FF set so far. Not too sure about this new one. I think its the House of X versions. The Darker Side.

I saw the Havok 2 pack today at a Gamestop and... I passed on it. I hope I don't regret that decision later.
