I agree with Black Arbor

I agree with Black Arbor and Warmachine

I looked at the figures and it's just straight repaints again. Nothing exciting besides it being new. Same Cap, Same Iron, Same Hulk essentially. Same cheap plastic being used and the ladies cannot stand from it.
It's very disturbing. No Movie head sculpt of Robert Downey again. Isn't it time for a Mark RUffalo figure or a Chris Evans with out the uniform? This is just laziness and taking advantage of the fans to be blunt. It's nice to see Thanos though....so I appreciate that. Still waiting for that movie Buster to be revealed. |

If you've looked at an set photos, you can clearly see that most of the Avengers are wearing costumes that are similar to their Phase 2 costumes. That's why Cap and Hulk are retools. They gave Hulk his new pants from the movie which have sculpted details in them that his normal pants didn't have. A new fist and a new head too if I'm not mistaken. Cap has a new chest, shoulders and fore arms. And Iron Man is a repaint because the only difference between the Mk. 42 and Mk. 43 is the paint scheme. Toybiz, Hasbro and Hot Toys have all tried doing Bruce Banners over the years. And they don't sell very well. Banner, the Chitauri and the Hulk/Banner 2 pack are the only Hot Toys figures from the Avengers that BBTS still has in stock. And the only reason why Hulk/Banner pack is left is because it's $500+. |
I'm very happy with most of the wave! The only exceptions are Cap (enough already) and Iron Man (check my caveat for Cap). Hellcat, like Machine Man before her, keeps my hopes for "obscure-character-fan-service" alive and well (more please)! Batroc will fill out my "Cap rogues gallery" very nicely (if we're going left-field on Cap enemies, can we get a Baron Blood? He'd also complement the Union Jack fig!). And then there's Thanos. While Infinity stunk, the design created for Thanos was both refreshing and inspired. I'd still like a Samaritan version of the mad Titan......
Tangentially, I really hope we see Tigershark (what's a Namor with no Tigershark?), Blizzard, and Bulldozer soon. The only burning question remaining is: where is that Valkyrie we saw pics of during last year's SDCC? I'm eager to know, because from what I recall, she looked to be an all new female buck....she was a real looker, and along with Hellcat, will bring me that much closer to a proper Defenders line-up. |

Open Face plates is da thing , Hasbro by all mercy release a war-machine one XD, I had a thought :O What if Bulldozer gets released with ant-man ?? I also Hope that if the Marvel's Netflix's series does well we can get at least a main character figure or a 4-packs or x2 2packs ?? Luke cage and iron fist came across the wrecking crew i think , so would be wizard, Valkyrie seems to be missing BUT could this mean a potential wave 3 ?? |

In a way it sort of sucks that Marvel Studios finds it necessary to constantly change the costumes every film; Hasbro will be compelled to go with the new look for the same old characters every time, taking up a wave slot that could've gone to someone new or less represented. I understand the business aspect of being able to reuse molds with slight tooling changes, but if Marvel Studios would just establish a darn iconic film look for each character, maybe it'd motivate Hasbro to work on whole new movie sculpts so we can get new characters each wave ala the Guardians Legends. I don't mind buying the figures because I enjoy them, but it sucks that Hasbro is using up opportunities to expand the movie figure universe because Cap has red on his chest and Hulk is wearing yoga pants now. It would've made more sense to throw movie Witch, Quicksilver, and either Movie Ultron or Vision out since they're going to be so prominent in the film, but instead, we're getting a "not different enough" Hulk and Cap. Bummer. |

You know...I had completely forgotten that the Netflix series represents a great opportunity to get some Legends line out there. Daredevil is a perfect opportunity to get a new Kingpin, Typhoid Mary, Bullseye (or even Lady Bullseye), and that cancelled Blade out there. Wouldn't mind having any of those personally... |
I am still wanting them to find a way to get Rescue, War Machine mkII, and Movie Mandarin put out somehow. I mean it really just screams a new 3 pack. Plus WM mkII is what he is wearing in AoU and like the Iron Man mk 43 , it is just a repaint. (I use the term repaint loosely as the Black and Silver WM was to be in IM3 in a scene before you saw the Re-branding to Iron Patriot.), but now he is back to proper WM colors with really no suit changes.

With him and Thanos being new dedicated sculpt, THATS where the majority of the money was invested into this wave. I don't mind this wave so much. I would have preferred a classic Thanos, and I don't care one bit about the movie Avengers, but finally getting Batroc, and the awesome Spider-Woman and Hellcat make this all worth it. I love that they come with extras again, but can't work out what Hellcat has with her since I'm not too familiar with her character. Is is a baton/whip? I'll likely buy a case from the US and sell the movie figures to recoup a little. |
I just hope I can find a BATROC with his stache painted well. I have a feeling that will be an issue since they barely could get spider mans webs painted on straight on his mask.

I think the ones to blame are possibly Marvel studio's writers not doing anything for him. A figure of him is not really over due. I know the Avengers figs will sell well , for a potential wave 3 like i said earlier Valkyrie is missing ... So wave 3 could consist of War-machine ,Valkyrie, Quicksilver, [comic version] we dont need another scarlet witch via movie version as well hasbro isnt that kind, if we get one then wow . Bulldozer possibly - avenger villain that's why. plus it seems hasbro is making it essential to have a villain in every wave [yay] BAF = Movie Ultron Possibilities - Movie versions of Thor is over due , widow and hawkeye maybe not due to movie versions, falcon - would be a long shot though is rumored to appear |
Hulk looks to be the same green as the first one right? Hate the pants, want to swap the extra fist and head.I'm hoping we see movie Hawkeye and Thor in the future, never saw the WM exclusives, and of course a BAF Hulkbuster wouldn't hurt!

Hey guys if you have a Mejiers i think its called
They are getting in a shipment tonight or Tomorrow good luck happy hunting go get your odin wave |
@Ultraman Zoffy
Heh. I think I'm up to eight Caps now, but only like two or three of them. It really is a shame that one or two slots of each wave end up being wasted on tiresome rehashes. While my preference is for the comic-versions of characters, I'd be fine with your suggestion of a movie Quicksilver or Scarlet Witch (or Ultron/Vision/Hulkbuster). Anything other than another Cap or Iron Man with minute tweaks. While embedding superfluous redux figs into a wave might make good business sense to them (no new molds and "forced" purchase based of the popularity of strategically selected BAF's), Hasbro runs the risk of turning off adult collectors. It reminds me of those Kenner Batman lines from the 90's that featured ONLY Batman. Would you like a Scuba Cap to compliment your Pizza-Delivery Cap? How about a CPA Tony Stark to match your Board-Room Stark (uh...that might not be that bad actually)? It's becomes insulting when these duplicates follow so closely behind one another. We've experienced a spate of these types of figs lately...... |

I'm nervous as to what this secret wars in the summer time will do to these new series... will they continue them on or will they just reboot again.... Back on topic any new info on the Spider-man wave ? lol |

One point I would like to make is that not everyone has been collecting for years and has multiple Captain Americas, Iron Mans and Spidermans. A younger person who for the first time is earning decent money at work can go to Walmart or wherever and buy one of these figures for a decent price. While we're all showing some fatigue with certain characters, I'm actually happy knowing many new comers won't be forced to use eBay to get older figures that cost too much. |

With Cap specifically, it's hard for me to ignore the exploitative nature of the business strategy. All in on Cap (counting Bucky Cap and US agent; different characters, but still within the Cap vein), there have been 14 Caps...with more to come, as you mentioned. By any standards, that's a shitload of Caps and the shark has been jumped. I definitely feel where you are coming from, but I also don't think it's unreasonable to point out that there are other characters in need of service. Just so you know, I like Cap. He's not a simplistic representation of jingoistic pride, but rather what America has the potential to become...I know, pretty sappy lol. Not trying to be facetious here, just a bit tired of Cap figs and wanting more diversity in representation. |
I think everyone is making some good points. One thing Hasbro can't seem to do is give us a wave without that anchor figure. Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine, Hulk, Thor (to an extent), all these guys have a bunch of versions because they will hopefully help the wave sell. As collectors, we may not always see the value here. Parents who know nothing about the comics will buy the person they know because they've seen them in commercials for movies. I was in Toys R Us yesterday and a woman was asking me "which of these characters are famous?" There were a few left over Guardians, Cap and Spider-Man legends. I tried to recommend Star Lord and her answer was "Who?". I felt like it was pulled from the movie, haha.
I'm not saying the big names are in every wave, but Hasbro mostly throws them in, Toy Biz did the same. Would I love a wave with zero anchor figures? Sure! But I think it might be some time before we see that happen. |

So does anyone remember when the Age of Ultron figures were first revealed, and Hulk had an open-mouthed screaming head? I wonder if we'll still get that.
