It just dawned on me that you might feel I was being that way. If that's the case, that wasn't my intention. Seeing Jean's perfect lipstick and hair just made me think about how ridiculous comics have been with sexualizing heroines and how skewed they are (or have been) to male sensibilities...not that women can't like wearing makeup or heels...it's just not practical in a scrap.

Maybe... but it’s like the movies. James Bond rolls around a hayloft with Girl#566563753 and both leave perfectly coiffed and composed. It’s just how the male-dominated media does things. But women aren’t exactly guiltless... You don’t see Wayne Knight, Jim Gaffigan, or Steve Buscemi in romantic lead roles in movies. It works both ways. Humans want to look at beautiful people in art. It’s part of the species. The REAL problem are the snowflakes that freak out because they are insecure because Jennifer Aniston looks better in her 50’s than many do in their 20’s, and can’t separate reality (themselves) with fiction (Jennifer Aniston with 300 makeup artists, stylists, soft filters, etc).

FYI good quality waterproof makeup stands up to sweat just fine. Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray will lock your makeup on for days. Having worn my fair share of makeup in my life, it can be made to last, except fake lashes, that i will give you, no matter what kind of glue you use those things will not stay put.

I did think about the fixative you mention, but I still think the last thing I'd be worried about is aesthetic accoutrements when fighting for my life against the likes Graviton or Slaymaster. Think of the infections you'd risk with makeup caked into wounds...nasty stuff.

Thanks for the heads up, Irontruck.

Edit: Double thanks Truck. I just had my local Gamestop put one aside for me LOL I'll be picking one up tomorrow...

I'm not arguing in favor of aesthetic. I'm saying there are techniques like contouring that can seemingly alter the face shape and aid in concealing one's identity. If you're out fighting crime in full beat face every night no one is going be looking for the less made up girl you are the rest of the time

American Maid

TheBlueMarvel 11-04-2019 07:48 PM

@VM

Yeah, I always knew what you were talking about, but I generally stick to what I'M talking about...keeps things clean. lol

As far as A.Maid is concerned, I'll still default to actual living breathing female pugilists over make-believe in the form of the Tick and/or WWE when trying to determine how heroines would behave in a realistic context...I'm not sure how we even pivoted to that silly nonsense. lol former greco-wrestler here... fake wrasslin' gets no love...unless it's Rick Flair, of course.

MeLikeJinx 11-04-2019 08:04 PM

Wut? Gamestop is selling Vintage Gray Hulk? That's surprising. And I do not like the look of Green Hulk with the orange shirt at all... it hurts my eyes. LOL.

And I don't know what you guys are talking about but I heard it took Hugh Jackman 3 months of non-stop dieting and weight training for that 3 minute shirtless scene in Days of Future Past. I still remember how skinny he was in the first X-men movie.

Trivial Psychic 11-04-2019 08:27 PM

Just remember...it doesn't just apply to women in pop culture.

While the Joker was terrorizing Gotham with balloons full of Smilex Gas...Batman was willing to sacrifice a few citizens with his lack of punctuality, as he had to make sure the eyeshadow under his cowl was just right that night... :bats

Cause...he's Batman...

Jeez, he's $50 at Gamestop?! He's only $35 on Pulse and EE, although EE doesn't actually have him in yet.

Yeah, that's pretty garish. They both look great with the white shirt but the orange only works with Grey Hulk.

Dorkside has Grey Hulk for $35 and he’s in stock right now.

Funny that I didn't think to check them, probably because I went straight to Pulse and they had him in stock so I just ordered on the spot. I only even checked EE later to see their price because they usually just charge msrp as opposed to BBTS which often puts a small markup on Hasbro products.

Yeah, for the most part, but it depends on who's collecting. The new Colossus is based on his original costume, not the 90s update, so I personally feel like my gold team is missing Colossus, but I can see why others would feel he's close enough for them to feel like their collection's complete. Others still might think Banshee or Revanche is crucial to finishing their teams. I want both, but would still personally consider those teams done without them.

In any event, the figures at the top of my want list are Bishop in the red costume he had when he returned from the future in Uncanny X-Force, Chamber, Destiny, Dust, Legion, Magik in New Mutants gear (either era, or preferably both), Psylocke in outback armour, Senyaka, and Spiral.

Waiting to see if it's legitimate, but just found rakuten.com/shop which is apparently the new eBates? They had the Kingpin wave's Symbiote Spidey that I missed out on for retail with free shipping. In case anyone is curious!

Veronica Mars 11-05-2019 12:05 PM

Anyone heard anything from Pulse about the 3 pack?

Does anyone know if the gauntlet from the endgame iron man will fit on the age of ultron hulk

...I just realized, Hasbro's released 6 distinct versions of Wolverine just this year (Weapon X, X-Force, Madripoor, Cowboy, First Appearance, Jim Lee). Is that a record for most versions of a character released in one year? It's gotta at least be up there.

MeLikeJinx 11-06-2019 04:55 AM

^ I feel like there have been just as much Deadpools and Spideys released in a year's span... especially Spidey since he had movie versions too.

Pretty sure Batman has held that record for a couple decades.

Please forgive me if this has already been talked about. I have been really busy at work and I haven't been on much. Apparently, it was leaked yesterday, via a packaging designer's LinkedIn, that Hasbro is going to relaunch G.I.Joe in 2020. This sparked a conversation between a few friends and myself. We were all kind of thinking that Hasbro will most likely make the G.I.Joe line a 6 inch line (which could open up the vehicle idea to HasLab projects). Since Hasbro's Marvel licence expires in 2020, we were thinking Disney might opt to take the license on themselves. And if Hasbro isn't doing 6 inch legends, it could easily leave room for G.I.Joe. This sparked a longer conversation about continuing to collect if Legends leave Hasbro, since often times scales change between companies. I have been around long enough to remember when the Legends went from Toy Biz to Hasbro. I always felt like that wasn't the smoothest of transitions.
Please keep in mind that I have no insider information, this is just speculation between me and some friends. But I am curious if anyone would stop collecting if the licence when to a new company? For me, it would depend on how different the figures would or wouldn't look next the Hasbro ones as well as variety of characters. I don't want to buy the same characters over and over. I wouldn't be selling my collection, but it would be nice to be able to put a cap on it. Anyone want to share some thoughts?

Pretty sure Hasbro will do everything in it's power to keep Marvel a happy camper. The line has been profitable for both. It's cheap to make (face it, 90% of figures are the same 3 or 4 figures, with slight remolding) and it's got free marketing from comics and films. As for GI Joe, I really don't see a vehicle line ever happening for a major toy line anymore. Plastic and tooling are too expensive to hit the price points needed. Especially in 6" scale. GI Joe will sell to nostalgic fans, but I'm not sure how well it will sell to the snowflake general population, unless Duke is packed with his comfort companion chihuahua.

Haslab could do something for the line, but I think it'd be a harder sell than Unicron or cookie monster. I love the concept, I just can't see the execution of it as an "all-in" line with the modern world politics.

Boy Blunder 11-06-2019 10:37 AM

Why do we keep speculating about Hasbro losing the license? Even if it expires in 2020, this isn't Mattel and DC we're talking about, here. Hasbro hasn't been mishandling the license like Mattel did. Constant new product, better distribution (by no means perfect, of course, but you're more likely to find new Legends in the wild than any new Multiverse toys), completing teams, offering a good mix of new and old characters... Hasbro's Marvel products have made both them and the Disney Overlords quite a decent profit, even in the times of declining action figure sales.

I really, really doubt there's not gonna be a renewal.
