FYI looks like Amazon is getting Pepper Potts Rescue Back in stock with non scalper price.

I can't post a link since I am still deemed new member

The retcon concerning Moira is that she's been a mutant the whole time and her power is that when she dies she starts life all over retaining her accumulated memories. The X-men's newfound resurrection deal is another thing on its own involving multiple mutants combining their efforts.

I was really skeptical of ANOTHER retcon until I read House of X and Powers of X. But I loved it. Def worth a read for those that haven't. It's incredibly well done.

It totally was, though! Not on Cyber Monday, but later that week. I nabbed one for $58.11 this time last year.

My mind is going. :o

Anyway it is still pretty bonkers that the Defenders set isn't on a significant sale right now, that thing's two years old. I'm not saying it's never been on sale because I've seen it go for close to half off but given it's age I'd think Amazon would be trying to get rid of it already.

Veronica Mars 12-02-2019 04:16 PM

That Alpha Flight sale hurts, got shorted last paycheck so couldn't pick it up today

Moira is a mutant, but that'snot her power as far as I'm aware

So far I'm really enjoying Excalibur and Fallen Angels. New Mutants and Marauders are ok-ish, not a fan of the rest

Alpha Flight for $69.99.

I know it's sour grapes because I paid full price, but this one chafes my ass more than just a little. Maybe I'd think differently if the QA issues for me weren't so obvious and numerous. However, right now I actually do feel duped by Hasbro and/or Amazon.

redfox 12-02-2019 05:34 PM

Couldn't pass on Amazon's Alpha Flight deal. Now I just gotta go and start building myself a Sasquatch...

Yes, that was it. Stil stupid in my book. Makes no sense either. Does she just get resurrected as if she never died or does she start life over and have to grow up over? I don't get how that would allow her to help the X-Men at all if she has to start life completely over again. By the time she would be able to help them they would be too old.

I am very content that I stopped reading monthly X-Men comics 20 years ago. I have picked up some trades Ollies but have no interested in the current comics.

It's like Groundhog Day or Edge of Tomorrow but her entire life instead of just a day so she goes through being a child and everything again but her date of birth is unaffected and therefor her ability to try and help mutants and the X-men specifically is unaffected. I hope that's a clearer explanation.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the change because I always found it significant that she was a human helping the X-men despite having no obligation to do so.

It happens a lot with these box sets. This Alpha Flight set might even go cheaper in the future. I don’t see too many casual Marvel fans jumping on this set. There really isn’t a mainstream character that will grab someone’s interest. I’m glad I got this deal, but I expect to see this pice again, if not lower.

Yah, man I wish I had zen-like patience when it came to Legends collecting... I mean like a monk living in a temple on top of a mountain type patience. Saw a MIB Xavier recently at a local shop for only 30... but like... how am I supposed to wait over a year+ to get Xavier. The Magneto 3 pack is on sale now... so is the Hulk/Wolverine 2 pack... saw Beast at Best Buy exactly one week after paying 35 for him... finally saw a Storm at Gamestop a week after paying 40 for her after holding out for so long before finally caving. But then stuff like Gladiator gets expensive when I wait to finish my Apocalypse. It's just all so crazy IMO. But then I look at my complete X-men display on my shelf and think... it's all good... no regrets.

Exactly. Now it's she was helping the X-Men because she herself was a mutant. That also ruins the impact of Proteus.

It's a complicated retcon that does leave a few questions unanswered, but really does answer most of them (including Proteus). It would be hard to do it justice without just going through a summary of the entirety of House of X and Powers of X, but Hickman did his homework, and--even if the changes to Moira sound hokey out of context--it really does work, and House/Powers were incredible. I'm waiting until trades on the Dawn of X lineup, but the story that set it all up was well worth a read.

This exactly. It sounds stupid trying to summarise it but having read the comics in question it ended up being one of my favourite elements, along with the separate resurrection mechanic.
As to the new comics, I've enjoyed #1 of X-Men, Marauder, New Mutants and Excalibur and I enjoyed them all, but Excalibur stood out the most.

Bit annoyed that Amazon is shipping every Hasbro exclusive to Australia EXCEPT the Alpha Flight boxed set.

Kinda surprised... the Black Widow teaser trailer didn't look as horrible as I thought it would. IMO live action Ghost in the Shell was so bad... still not sure ScarJo can carry an action film.

I'm in agreeance with almost everything here. I'm still not sold in whether Scarlett can carry an action film on her own (I felt GiaS was a bit unfairly judged by the white-washing "outrage", not to mention the general issues that tend to surface with live action adaptations of anime; "Lucy" however was an absolute train wreck despite having one of the better action movie directors [Luc Besson] at the helm.) The tone of the BW trailer had a very "Winter Soldier" vibe to it, so if it is anything close on that level, it'll definitely change my tune.

If anything, the only disappointment that I got out of the trailer was the look of Taskmaster, which was too "Call of Duty" for my tastes. The heroes in these Marvel films get all these bright and colorful costumes...must the villains always be so grounded? I can understand the classic look for TM is a bit hokey...but what...the Udon version was too extreme?

On a side note...seeing the white costume in action, who wants to bet Hasbro mails it in by giving us the Sharon Carter figure with a new head?

Didn't know there was a trailer coming out. I wonder if they made a trailer to advertise the trailer like Sony did with the recent Bond movie. That was down right hilarious.

BW is one of my favorite Marvel heroes, but honestly, I couldn't care less about her movie because she's dead now. There's nothing this movie could do to make any sort of impact on Infinity War and Endgame.

It's much better than it's been explained to you. The plot and world expansion can't be explained in 1 or 2 sentences. The way the story progresses is fantastic. Not to mention the art and interior graphic design are top notch. You may enjoy it and really should read it (12 issues. House of X and Powers of X 1-6). At least then you could say,"read it. didn't like it." As it stands you're just judging it from a place of ignorance (no offense meant at all.).

P.S. I was a COMPLETE skeptic. I went in determined NOT to like it. Here I am defending it and recommending it.

Captain Nash 12-03-2019 08:42 AM

Are we doing top 10 for the year yet? the only thing I have outstanding is the Jean/Scott/Logan set and I don't see any of them making my top 10. Or are we waiting to see if any of the Spider-Man and F4 stuff ships this month?
