Real quick. I'm trying to track down a BAF Wendigo head for a friend of mine. He's on a tight budget. I have plenty of BAF parts that I would be happy to trade in order to help him out. Does anyone have an extra?

I don't think there will be any impact on IW or Endgame but I'm pretty sure we'll see hints for other future Marvel properties. Several people speculate that we'll be introduced to future Thunderbolts. Personally, I'm hoping to see the introduction of mutants in the MCU (I ain't counting Quicksilver or Scarlet Witch) in the form of Ursa Major.

If anything, the only disappointment that I got out of the trailer was the look of Taskmaster, which was too "Call of Duty" for my tastes. The heroes in these Marvel films get all these bright and colorful costumes...must the villains always be so grounded? I can understand the classic look for TM is a bit hokey...but what...the Udon version was too extreme?
I'm not a fan of the Taskmaster's look either. Their decision to combine TM's classic look with a realistic aesthetic was a bad call. I mean goggles and a grinning skull doesn't work. Like you said, the Udon look would've satisfied the need for realism, yet still kept the character recognizable.

I would've accepted just a plain skull mask, maybe something that looks a liiiittle better than a Halloween costume, but still!

I'm holding off until closer to the end of the year since we basically still have all of December ahead of us so it's possible that something else could drop in time.

I think they should have just basically copied Die-Hardman's mask from Death Stranding but in white or silver.

I think I'll do the same. Hasbro has been nuts with the releases this year and some of them shorter notice from reveal. Plus, if by chance that Doom does release this month, he'll definitely make the top 10. But we'll see......there's so many to choose from, I think I've got a top 15 but I have to really look them over.

I've started my top 10 list, based on several criteria. It's been very hard to narrow it down. So much goodness this year.

I'm also waiting (hoping) to see if Dr. Doom gets released before the year is out. Release dates online vary, but if I can ring in the new year with that Doom fig in-hand, that'd be awesome! Based on promo pics, he'd easily make my top 10. He might even lead it.

Does anyone know who is the guy in the red suit and who he is fighting in the Black widow trailer?

Red Guardian & Taskmaster. Red Guardian is essentially a Russian Captain America, and Taskmaster is mercenary with the ability to perfectly mimic the fighting style of anyone he watches. Taskmaster seems to be the Boba Fett of the film: super-hyped up badass side-character.

Ok kool, thanks.

Taskmaster is prominently featured on the original D23 poster and given what we see in the trailer it seems unfair to suggest he's only a minor character like Boba Fett. Now of course Black Widow is a spy in a world of spies so the plot is bound to have some twists and turns and Taskmaster may wind up not being the main villain. Given Taskmaster's comic counterpart it is highly likely he isn't the mastermind but he could still be the main physical adversary like the Winter Soldier was in his titular film.

That’s fair. I’m feeling that he may be a diversion. Trailers and posters hype him as the main villain, movie pulls a fast one and he’s just a hired gun to some larger villain (dunno who, maybe Iron Maiden or Crimson Dynamo). But you’ve got an excellent point in likening him to Winter Soldier, in that he’ll still be a focal point. Either way, I’m intrigued to see him in action.

Tim 12-03-2019 10:36 PM

I personally thought the trailer was sooooo awesome(reminds me of Jason Bourne) I was one of the few that didn’t hate the look of taskmaster. I’m probably biased though(black widow is probably my favorite of the OG avengers) so I was Hyped way before the trailer dropped. I just can’t wait for the legends. I need a White suit Nat in my MCU collection now.

Also any one have a Endgame black widow head that they don’t need from the two pack? Or any Fat/bro Thor parts?

Dr Kain 12-03-2019 10:50 PM

Taskmaster is in the trailer? Where? People have been posting screen shots and I have not seen Taskmaster in them. I've seen a bearded Red Guardian, Black Widow in a white outfit, and some dude that looks like Snake-Eyes.

"Snake Eyes" is Taskmaster.

I thought “taskmaster” looked like Alcatraz/Prophet from from crysis 3

I may be alone in thinking we still haven't seen the primary antagonist of Black Widow. Maybe He/She is not in the film all that much, but I would expect someone "in charge" of the program or something, pulling the strings, akin to having a set up like the Emperor to Darth Vader.

I alluded to this in a previous post but yeah Taskmaster is not really one to fill the person-in-charge role since he's a mercenary. The movie could change things but I feel it's more likely the actual villain either won't be a physical threat and needs to hire muscle or the villain won't be ready to reveal themselves until a certain point and needs muscle until then. Heck, for all we know Taskmaster is acting on behalf of the UN and is trying to arrest Natasha since this movie is set between Civil War and Infinity War.

No, that’s definitely what I’m feeling too. Question being, who’s a large (ish) threat who could be running things? Oooh, what about AIM and MODOK? It’s a long shot, but that would be cool.

This actually isn't bad. It's an overly complex design for real world combat but it would work in a movie.

MCU Taskmaster's costume looks not only hokey but cheap.

Oddly enough the concept art looks decent. So maybe it's a matter of keeping the hood on and having a little more light to bring out the colors in the suit.

Hopefully Taskmaster's legends figure will look like the artwork.

Exactly. maybe they'll show up in the first part of the movie but it won't be revealed they're the behind the scenes villain until the last third of the movie.

AIM would be interesting. I don't know as much about their leadership beyond MODOK as I do about Hydra. In a way it's a shame that Baron Von Struker got misused (IMO) in the Avengers films. Someone on his level would be great, even if he was not Russian and was Hydra not AIM.

Jeddostotle7 12-04-2019 12:58 PM

Honestly the main problem with Taskmaster's costume for me is entirely the mask. It's gotta be a full-on skull. Whether stylized like the Udon one or realistic like classic, it's gotta be a full-on skull. Not this "goggles with a skull mouth" thing they've got going on with him. Having the hood up definitely will help make him look better, but he really should have a full-on skull.

Vamp 12-04-2019 01:02 PM

Oh no, if thats Taskmaster, marvel dropped the ball for this movie.
Horrible design, it is an easy design too, just a skull face with a hood. i dont get hollywood sometimes.
Disney always "watering down" everything, disney probably doesnt like skulls or something...
