Having the hood up definitely will help make him look better, but he really should have a full-on skull.

This. 100% this.

I second that emotion. Clearly, even from this movie (Red Guardian) as well as recent ones (MYSTERIO) the MCU has no problem with asinine costumes, and making them work. So what’s the deal with Taskmaster?

Horrible design, it is an easy design too, just a skull face with a hood. i dont get hollywood sometimes.
Disney always "watering down" everything, disney probably doesnt like skulls or something...

There is precedence... Crossbones had a spandex mask in the comics but a full helmet mask in the MCU. It's how things translate. Skull masks don't always work. They usually come out campy. MOTU film, Willow, Mortal Kombat Annihilation, Phantom of the Opera, etc. Taskmaster is supposed to be a brilliant tactician/martial artist, not a power rangers enemy. I think it works in the MCU established world.

Remember, they AREN'T making the films for the fanboys. The REAL money comes from the casual filmgoer. They see a Skeletor-looking doofus in a cape and hood, and they are gonna say Marvel jumped the shark. Same reason M'Baku wasn't running around in a monkey costume, Scarlet Witch doesn't wear little red lingerie to battle, and Gamora in a fishnet body suit.

And its funny how much red guardians mcu costume looks like captain americas.....guess so hasbro can reuse that mold and not have to make a new one.

Im willing to wager man ape not being man apey had more to do with potentially offending people than anything else.

Well, his story is he's one of the Soviet attempts at a patriotic super soldier, so it makes sense. Pretty certain Disney/Marvel doesn't factor in Hasbro's little 6" figures when designing costumes.

The reason for the change isn't in question... the point is costume adaptations have precedence.

I, for one, applaud the change. Taskmaster's comics costume looks ridiculous. It's something someone would throw together out of whatever was left over at a Halloween store, not the outfit of a feared master criminal/assassin/operative. MCU costume looks like a workable covert operative costume. It's definitely more ominous looking. Straight out of a spy novel description.

That's what makes it so great.

WHy not? If you're going to be a villain, you need to look cool.

And that would be fine if this was James Bond or Jason Bourne, but this isn't James Bond or Jason Bourne, this is the Marvel "Fucking" Universe. They should look how they do in the comics.

I'm tired of seeing super villains wear realistic tacticle gear and plain clothes. I want to see villains wearing costumes. If they wear a costume in the comics, they should be wearing the same costume in the movies/TV series.

No real argument from me, as long as it looks good. I’m sold on figures from this movies, especially if rumors pan out that comics Ursa Major is the Build-A-Figure.

Star Wars has ALWAYS been about the marketing. That's nothing that can be blamed on Disney. Star Wars has been about whoring it's goods since 1977.

Hasbro is just along for the ride with Marvel. Other than preproduction art used to make the first wave of figures for a movie, I don't think Hasbro gets anything else to go on. Marvel is very tight-lipped about things.

The similarities between Cap and Red have more to do with connecting the two in the minds of viewers than making things easier for Hasbro. I wouldn't be surprised if it still requires a major retooling anyway. While similar, there are still quite a number of differences, including bulk.

Did they actually confirm Hawkeye and the Skycycle for the riders line or am I just remembering wrong

As I recall the only ones we've got confirmed are Cosmic Ghost Rider and Squirrel Girl.

It’s strongly rumored, if unconfirmed. Maybe Toy Fair. I could also go for a new classic Valkyrie with a Pegasus, and Crystal with Lockjaw (she doesn’t actually ride him, but who cares).

Definitely. I'm worried that the only other way Hasbro would do Lockjaw is as a BAF and even then I'm not sure how'd they pull that off.

Torn between Ursa Major and Crimson Dynamo. Both would make great BAFs.

Pretty sure that's just a possible leak at this point. Believe Rektangular posted something about it in one of his videos. Haven't heard anything since, and nothing confirmed by Hasbro.

Would love both of these! The only disappointment would be that the Pegasus & Lockjaw figures would probably have very limited articulation or even more than likely they'd just be static figurines.

Am I the only one who noticed in the Black Widow trailer that at the dinner table scene Yelena is wearing the same black and green vest Nat has in Infinity War?? Since this is a pre Infinity story, I wonder if Yelena gets killed and Nat takes the vest and goes blond as a way to honor her or something. I would not mind a reason behind her look in Infinity. I always chalked it up to her just looking different cause Steve was wanted and he grew a beard so she had to look different too. I would also not be surprised if there is a credit scene with bearded Cap also.

Hey, those of y'all who got a replacement Family Matters pack due to various issues back when it first came out: how did you go about asking for one? What is Amazon's minimum burden of issue for actually sending a replacement, and what proof do you need to send them?

I just requested an exchange and they sent one, and gave me a return label for the original and 30 days to send it back before I'd be charged for the replacement

...Wow, that's lax. So since they give you 30 days to send it back, you can basically get the second one, swap between them for the best versions of different parts, and then send back the worse set?

Or we could find that Infinity War Widow wasn't Natasha. We've already seen Widow using the false face hologram tech in the second cap film.
Plus it'd be amusing if the best Hasbro Widow figure (the only one that doesn't fall over when a breeze hits it thanks to poor feet choices) turned out not to be one of Natasha.

I'm still tempted to buy another Infinity War Natasha so I can pop one of the Target Endgame heads on her and take the vest off.

I hope she doesn't die. I'm hoping for an MCU berth of Yelena as the Super-Adaptoid.

I hope not. Throws off her entire character arc of someone who didn't care about anyone or anything except the job at hand to someone who would die for her "family"... Wouldn't totally put it past Disney, but I think the Scarlet Johansson Black Widow is winding down as a movie character, to allow a younger version to show up in the future, by explaining more about the program that created her in the first place. Knowing there is storyline with an "assembly line" of killer Russian girls lets Marvel switch actresses whenever the current actress starts getting "long in the tooth" for Hollywood standards.

jmurray90720 12-06-2019 02:14 AM

No interest in MCU figures but I’m hoping that the BW movie raises Yelena’s profile to the point where we actually get a comic figure of her, in the same outfit as the MS figure, and not just an alternate head for Natasha.

Panther 12-06-2019 06:17 AM

Loved the trailer for Black Widow. I'm very excited for the future of the MCU, and this trailer is a step in the right direction. The overall feel, the stand alone aspect, and decision to scale back after all of the world ending events in Phase 3 is what I was hoping for.

As far as the Marvel Legends, if the rumors are true and we are getting Natasha (Black Costume, and White Costume), Yelena, Alexei, and Taskmaster, that seems like a solid wave of figures for me. I was hoping we would get a Civil War or Endgame Black Widow, but I'm a patient man. I have hope we will see them down the road.

Harbinger 12-06-2019 09:03 AM

Got these in a trade yesterday.
