But we need a noseless Wolverine and a Fang pronto! Otherwise...BERZERKER BARRAGE!

I think that looks awful. The black overpowers the entire look and this is coming from someone who wears black all of the time. It needs some silver in there or something since the costume was supposed to be silver with black highlights.

Storm in black is not confirmation of another retro X-wave yet. This figure is going up for pre-order in two days, it's looking like a one-off release same as the vintage Deadpool.

While I don't think it looks awful I think going with the lightning bolt costume would've been better. The larger amount of gold present on that version's torso helps balance the look.

Benn Roe 12-07-2019 10:37 PM

Yeah, this is a Storm costume that didn't exist. The black costume that was similar to this was the lightning bolt version from the outback, with no stripe down the torso, and no X badges. This costume was usually silver in the comics, sometimes white, and definitely white in the cartoon. Oh well, third time's the charm on this sculpt, I guess.

Shinzero02 12-08-2019 12:18 AM

Ugh... another Walgreens release I'll need to buy multiple of.
I haven't even found Silver Surfer, Emma yet. 3 Dani's is a pipe dream at this point and now the Cuckoos...

Whyyyyyy

I really wish they'd also be available on Pulse.

Anymore international con this weekend?

Were our wallets people, they'd be suffering from Stockholm syndrome, with Hasbro as their captors.

If we see more 80th figs, I wouldn't be surprised by a FA Storm being thrown into the mix. The 80th wares seem to get extra treatment in tooling which would be nice imo for a Storm costume that isn't as simple as it looks; a specially tooled tiara, thigh-high boots and the disco ring at her midriff would all be greatly appreciated. The 80th line sports a few unique sculpts like Cap (chainmailed torso/arms/new heads), Thor (everything sans his Herc arms), Hulk (despite it being used 3 times now), and Iron Man. It would be nice to see FA Storm get similar TLC to set her apart.

Agreed. I never understood the black costume crowd, it never looked like that. It should have been Silver, or they should have just done the Outback Era costume.

Speaking of characters to fill out any potential revisit of an X-Men related retro wave, or otherwise, I'd like to see a new Longshot on the Pizza Spidey mold. Parts from the comic canon Ghost/Jack O'Lantern mold might also work.

I know the guy has hollow bones and is a skinny little thing, but I think the Ghost/Jack mold would be too much.

Honestly, I'd like to see him get his own mold, maybe with alternate heads for different era haircuts.

I think it works in the MCU established world.

Remember, they AREN'T making the films for the fanboys. The REAL money comes from the casual filmgoer. They see a Skeletor-looking doofus in a cape and hood, and they are gonna say Marvel jumped the shark. Same reason M'Baku wasn't running around in a monkey costume, Scarlet Witch doesn't wear little red lingerie to battle, and Gamora in a fishnet body suit.

I disagree, the problem is that hollywood is continuing to make all these villains costumes "Tactical" its getting too repetitive. Sometimes cheesy is good. Just like power rangers cheeziness.

I hope not. I hate the Ghost/Jack mold. Those legs are just terrible.

Those all look really bad, like Chinese knockoffs. The Captain Marvel especially is pretty laughable...

True, but the TB version was noticeably waifish just like the character and Hasbro was successful in conveying that gaunt look with Ghost/Jack O'Lantern, wonkiness aside. That said, I also agree about wanting a new mold and generally desire that for most characters. I just don't believe Hasbro will green light a new mold for a character that gets so few requests from collectors. Outside of Dazzler fans wanting to complete another super couple, I can't recall many calls for a new Longshot. I vaguely remember some bringing up Longshot when discussing a new Mojo or Spiral, two characters I also want along with LS.

It's true, I don't see a lot of requests for Longshot either. I mean, if they released him I'd buy him of course, but I'm actually perfectly okay with just having the TB one.

Legends are up on sale again at Walgreens for 15.99. Good time to round out those collections and fill those fodder bins.

You can disagree with the average movie goer, but the box office doesn't lie. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows went full on cartoon cheesy and tanked. Power Rangers tanked. Cheesy cartoon/comicbook films fail miserably in the theater, and the whole point of films is to make money, not appease 40 year old manchildren. If they can't bring in the soccer mom and her kids, the dating 20 year olds, AND a few entitled fanboys, the movie tanks. Pissing off the fanboys has almost no effect on a film's bottom line, as proved by Starwars 7 & 8, Suicide Squad, Captain Marvel and Venom.

Storm and the Black Widow wave are now up for preorder. Crimson Dynamo is the BAF for the wave.

Thank you. Placed my DS orders for Storm and Spymaster. So far next year is shaping up to be a light year for me for non X-men waves, 4 figures total over 3 waves. I'm sure I'll make up the difference with the slew of X-Men product though.

Black Arbor 12-09-2019 10:14 AM

Not a bad wave, glad they got more mileage outta the Iron Monger body, buy why doesn't Red Guardian come with a masked head?? And why does Yelena's torso look like it's 25% smaller in proportion to the rest of her body?

SymbiSpidey 12-09-2019 10:22 AM

Hmmm...that Black Widow wave is actually looking pretty nice. Excellent choice for a BAF.

Boy Blunder 12-09-2019 10:26 AM

Not even the whole Iron Monger body, just the legs. Everything else looks to be either retooled-to-the-point-of-unrecognizable, or completely new molding.

Odd that they'd go with Gennady Gavrilov, Crimson Dynamo VIII, though I suppose that makes sense for a BAF. Still, a bit surprising that they'd go with a more 'heroic' CD than a more classic version. Wonder if Titanium Man was under consideration?

The Nat looks really nice, but I don't think I need her for my collection. Yelena looks... off, but I can't figure out what's bugging me about her. Tasky, weirdly, is pretty appealing to me, and I may pick him up on a whim. Guardian makes me smile, but I'm not gonna be picking him up, at least not at retail price. Spymaster is the only one of the comics-based figures I'm considering, and that's only because ya gotta love that garish, primary-colored costume for a guy named "Spymaster."

Don't know if I'll want Dynamo, but I do like his look. The sculpted weathering on the pauldrons is a very nice touch.
