I don't care much for the Fantastic Four from this wave since I've got my classic versions, but Doom looks like Marvel Legends perfection. Hasbro might have dropped the ball on Loki and, in some ways, Magneto, but I think Doom might be Marvel Legends perfection.

His silhouette is just perfect and it seems like the articulation was pretty well done. I knew there'd be a split in the skirt for the hips, but I did not expect that upper torso to have any movement whatsoever besides a waist swivel.

2019 has been a great year for Marvel Legends, with so many classic and definitive versions of characters we sorely needed. I don't know how Hasbro plans on topping this in 2020.

Then I re-read it and my brain worked the 2nd time. Yay brains!

Really, I need stronger afternoon coffee.

Haha! No worries, my friend. We are quite happy. And she's really cool with my collecting habits. :)

Marvel Legends has been one of the very few highlights of 2019 in my world, with the highest point being the Godzilla Showa Collection from Criterion.

Oh dear God, that boxset is beautiful.

Hey, look what Amazon finally decided to ship out and deliver in a reasonable manner despite them being bought on Cyber Monday:

I know. It was something I never expected to happen outside of my dreams. Now I hope Criterion can someone do a Heisei set covering 84-Final Wars.

Well that would be Heisei and Millenium since Heisei ended with Destoroyah.

Ooh, yes please to Heisei and Millennium boxsets. I could go for Criterion releases of the other Toho kaiju movies, like “Rodan” and “Varan.” Hey, speak of Godzilla, a new Marvel Legends Dum Dum Duggan would rule.

The presentation on this Showa collection is stellar, but I do feel like the Heisei and Millenium movies have been released and rereleased so many times over the last like 15 years. The Showa was a necessity (even though I do wish it contained both subs and dubs for every movie)

TheFwoosh has a video review and pics up of the new FF wave, and holy cow they look great! I only have Doom ordered but he could be a favorite of the year if my Gamestop gets him early!

Dr Kain 12-12-2019 02:16 PM

So my initial impressions of my new figures:

Cannonball - Dude ain't got no legs. I can't do anything with him, so I'm glad I got this half toy for half price.

Wolverine - Sucks. His claws can't even be removed. Utter waste of a figure and should have been an exclusive or something without a BAF part.

Vindicator - Pretty cool. Really good paint apps all around, especially since 90% of the ones I have seen in stores had the red leaf on the chest messy as hell.

Wendigo - He's cool. The tail doesn't seem to want to rotate though and I fear if I force it it will tear the peg right off the body.

Silver Samurai - He's cool.

Puck - No ab crunch, hardly any posseability, which sucks for a dude that is supposed to be agile.

Snow Owl - Paint apps are great but her neck is too long. Or the head doesn't go down far enough. Plus, the neck disc can not support the head's weight, so it slides back, permenantly keeping her in a looking up pose. Love the face. The arms a little too wobbly though.

Northstar - The white is a little messy on the backside of his shoulders, but the front looks great. No complaints here.

Aurora - Her arms are... weird. I had to heat them up to unfreeze the joints and yet, I still feel like the arms are very fragile. It also doesn't helpt that the lower arms don't seem to be pushed into the upper arms all of the way despite them not moving farther in when I tried. I'm worried she is going to break just by sneezing in her vicinity. Paint job is fantastic though.

Shaman - Like with Aurora, I had to heat his arms up as they were horribly crooked at the elbow joint. Other than that, he's great. Face is impressive too.

Female Vindicator - The worst of the bunch. Her legs from the thigh swivel down are a reddish shade of white instead of the pearl white used on the torso and upper part of the legs. He neck is way too long as well. She might as well be called The Giraffe.

Overall, except for Wolverine, I am pleased with them, especially at the discounted prices I paid. It is nice to finally have Wendigo completed so I no longer have to have his parts just chillin in the case. It's also great to have Alpha Flight done and over with so quickly. If only Hasbro could have been this fast to finishing off the initial Claremont X-Men team.

I know, but I mean the Heisei era of Japan since Toho considers Shin to be Reiwa.

The problem is that despite getting rereleased, Sony has yet to give them proper subtitles. Most of them use dubtitles, especially the Millennium films and the 93 MechaGodzilla film. Plus, GvsKG and GvsM92 are missing their end credits.

Criterion would go back and give all of the films proper translations like they did with the Showa set.

Man, gotta agree with that. I like the option of having the dubs, even if they are inferior. There are some days when I don’t feel like reading my movie. Except “King Kong Vs. Godzilla.” I’ll be watching the Japanese cut exclusively from here forward.

All i gotta say is that if Godzilla doesn’t beat that oversized, poop-flinging primate Kong in the Godzilla vs Kong movie next year WE RIOT!

Hell, Kong is already winning the MonsterVerse. That movie was better than it had any right to be. I’m generally a team Kong fella, as the original movie has been my favorite movie ever since I was little, I have to root for him. That said, Godzilla realistically should kick Kong’s ass.

Dr Kain 12-13-2019 07:42 AM

See, I think Godzilla 2014 is still the best of the three Monsterverse movies. Skull Island and KotM both sucked in their plots and character development.

Looking at the Fwoosh pictures, I'm totally sold on Jen and Doom, and the face sculpt on the Super Skrull is very nice.

Sue... doesn't make me want her like I did in the original photos. The longer legs result in her looking too skinny IMO. I'll stick with Walgreens Sue (though if anyone ends up wanting to get rid of her invisible shield, hit me up). The rest are as 'meh' to me as they were before.

I definitely appreciated Godzilla 2014 more than a lot of my friends. Skull Island was surprisingly better than I was expecting but it was still just dumb fun. KotM was almost exactly what I expected, a paper-thin plot with cardboard humans and good ol' monster fights. Also Bear McCreary using Akira Ifukube's iconic music for KotM was a generous serving of nostalgia gravy.

Where are the FF pics on Fwoosh? I looked but couldn't find them. Also, the Ark could use an action photo thread...it's fun to see what members come up with.
