I just found some photos from members, but they were quick shots with bad light and unflattering angles. I'm looking forward to them regardless, but I am a little disappointed by Super Skrull. Toy Biz seems to have won that battle. Maybe they can salvage by releasing translucent versions a la the FF legends classics.

Edit:I just looked at the the hi res Fwoosh photos. Never mind what I said LOL I'm really looking forward to the wave...well, I still think there's something a little off about Kl'rt, maybe the Hyperion torso - although, I do get that Hasbro needed a beefier body to support the odd limbs. While I really like the contrast of the blue and black and the paints look crisp, I agree with Triv on the color for the Thing...but that's minor and, if anything, the little differences set them apart in a pleasant way from the original set.

I am too, not because I think he's poorly done but because he's such a non-BAF in final delivery. He could easily have been sold on his own, two of the figures you need to get to build him are bigger than he is. I feel like the BAF should have been somebody like Dragon Man and then Super Skrull could've just been a standard release somewhere else.

Sure, I expect many people will feel that way and it's a totally valid gripe just as it is with Hobgoblin...who I'll also be building. HAha!

The Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine 3pack arrived today. Wish Jean's facial expressions were better and her neck movement was better. Figure is decent overall. Wolvie with the bones claws is cool. Cyclops could have use open hands instead of fists. The different heads for Scott are good.

I know. It was something I never expected to happen outside of my dreams. Now I hope Criterion can someone do a Heisei set covering 84-Final Wars.

Got mine too! It’s so hard to pull these out of these box sets, it looks so good.

Do the extra heads from the 3 pak fit on the regular cyclops?

Right here: Hasbro: Marvel Legends Fantastic Four Super Skrull Wave Video Review and Quick Pics |

The pictures seems to corroborate the general view on the wave: the FF are low-effort, Super-Skrull and She-Hulk are cool, and Doctor Doom is perfect.

Lol thanks, but as I mentioned in subsequent posts and edits, I found the page.

Is that really the general opinion??? Are you sure? ;) Well, its a good thing I'm not a consensus guy.

...as far as Kl'rt is concerned, outside of the heads, I'm still a bit on the fence and it isn't because he's a BAF that's standard size - although that's not winning any points either.

Weapon X 12-14-2019 12:31 AM

Likeness looks very off on that Black Widow figure. Disappointing, I was hoping to put that head on the IW body.

You mean the Warlock wave Cyclops? Yah, they fit perfectly and both sunglasses heads look great on the normal Cyclops body.

After reading many reviews, I'm so glad that I decided to pass on the entire wave except for Doom. Sure if I ordered the whole wave, DS would probably have shipped and I'd have my Doom now, but I'm going to be patient.

TheBlueMarvel 12-14-2019 09:13 AM

Just watched the video for the TheFwoosh FF review (feels weird to reference and discus that site here - once upon a time, that was frowned on and received the scrubbing treatment) and the way Hasbro handled Doom's neck and torso seems like a nod to the manner in which 4H handles their mythic legions figs.

Will try and let you know.

Just put the Scott head with the regular glasses on the other 3 Cyclops bodies and it fits perfectly on all of them.

Still never saw that 14.5” Hulk show up at my Ollie’s. That is the spot for WWE figures though, I grabbed a NIB Brock Lesnar last night. I can’t find that part-timer anywhere for less than $30.

Yeah, I really cannot talk myself into them, even though Super-Skrull looks cool.

Sorry, didn’t see that you had found it. Seems to be consensus, at least from what I’ve seen. They’re underwhelming. I like Kl’rt, although he should be bigger. I suppose the idea would be that he can double as a normal Skrull. Which would be cooler if he was a Walgreens exclusive, as originally intended. Although, he would have been a complete cluster to buy, if Moonstar is any indication.

No worries, it's the sentiment that counts.

Obviously, I'm running counter to the grain on this wave, which isn't unusual. I love the FF, second favorite team outside of the Defenders (followed by Flight), and I'm as happy with this blue and black team as I was with the TB blue and black alternatives. Happier, actually, because they aren't straight reuses as the old TBs were. As far as the complaints of the FF feeling phoned in, they appear to have the same QC issues I experienced with at least one of each of my sets (I bought two of each) of the Family Matters, Polaris and Havok, Love Triangle, and Alpha Flight packs making that more of a recent Hasbro trend than something specific to this wave. Additionally, as mentioned, they're not exact reuses which I appreciate as at least a slight departure from the gimmick used for Dani and the upcoming Cuckoos. But I was purposely being a goof with asking you about the 'general opinion' as that's something that's unquantifiable and largely anecdotal - the counter argument could be made based on my own opinion and the glowing responses within the comments of the Fwoosh review and it would be equally meaningful or meaningless depending on how you view these things.

About Kl'rt, I'm just not feeling the Hyperion torso and legs for whatever reason. Maybe it has to do with truly wanting an Annihilation Kl'rt rather than a classic version...

Fair enough. I think the ire for this wave is mostly from Fantastic Four fans who are frustrated that four slots of a six figure wave are “wasted” on characters we’ve already gotten, when there is a vast ensemble of FF friends and foes who haven’t gotten their plastic day in the sun. Which is understandable. I appreciate the sentiment, as I personally would’ve preferred new characters to another version of the team, in outfits I’m not familiar with. Ultimately, it doesn’t really bother me, as I’m figuring we’ll see more Fantastic Four and more cosmic Marvel figures in general in the coming years. The desire for instant gratification makes it so that people get irked when the figures they want don’t come immediately. In my years of collecting, I’ve learned it’s an exercise in patience. As a huge Alpha Flight nerd myself, that boxset was gratifying. I waited years for it. By the way, if you’ll pardon the pun, how about an Annihilation wave?

Short of them stating as much, who really knows what the reasoning is regarding grousing on the internet? While what you say is reasonable and likely true for others outside of yourself, there's a world of subjective opinions and motivations out there.

Most of us that have spent time collecting Legends know the deal, there's a rubric for all of this and it revolves around ancillary/complementary media (movies or TV tie-ins) and anchoring sell-through on waves with familiar characters. It's for this reason so very many Avenger waves featured Cap, Iron Man, and Thor. Most are also aware that Marvel has re-secured the FF and their emergence within the MCU is a far flung understanding and expectation. We are going to see many iterations of the core FF before all of this is said and done, so, based on your take, people may want to gird themselves for continued disappointment. As much as I'd love to see Diablo (box set with his Elements of Doom?) / the Frightful Four (another box?) / Mole Man (throw in some Moloids that I can have the Hulk toss around) / Molecule Man / Mephisto / Psycho Man / Mad Thinker and his awesome android / Abraxas / Salem's Seven (another box) and many others, I also know I'd be extremely lucky to see just a few of those characters sprinkled sparingly into waves. Not trying to dash hopes, just being candidly pragmatic.

Also, I've been pretty vociferous throughout the years about my want for an Annihilation wave/box/anything...so, yeah, I'm more than down for that along with many other things related to Marvel Cosmic:

My "ire" (per say) is not in the inclusion of the first family so hot off the Walgreens releases, but rather the obvious lack of TLC in how a majority of the figures were handled QC wise. Thin coats of blue, the horrible orange plastic used for Thing (and the terrible lemon flavored wash which rivals the original Big Time Spidey as one of the worst I've seen on a Legends figure) the obvious sculpted seams in Reed and Sue's headsculpts, stuck and fragile joints, the googly eyes...they are just hideous figures.

More frustrating is the reviewers seem to be missing these things because they are on either on that new figure high or they are in the back pocket of Hasbro and don't want to offend. Only the Fwoosh reviews seemed to have a hint of honesty to them so far, but some stuff seemed glossed over there as well.

And honestly...I have no gripes on the costume choice...as I like the blue and black scheme...as it reminds me a bit of their costumes in Ultimate FF4, which was a book I enjoyed and how I was going to represent them on my shelf.

Now these types of QC issues are rampant in any number of waves, but for four of the figures to have very similar issues is atrocious...especially when the BAF is a much needed character and the remaining figures got so much love. I've been looking for an excuse to get the set honestly...because I really want Sooper Skrull, but after being a wave completionist for so long, Hasbro has broken me and I will need to go back to cherry picking because I just don't want to be stuck with any more bad figures that I need to be. Legends at this time for me has started feeling like a money pit, and reselling can be such a headache.

Bro i feel the same way. I’ve been really getting into other lines as despite a lotta great characters getting released qc issues ( becoming more and more prevelant ) certain characters getting released in packs or stupid exclusives, lackluster selection, bafs and outfits, i been feeling less hyped for a lotta figs or waves being shown.

Ive been really jonesing on the jazzwares fortnite figs and i have to say they are easily some of the beet made figs ive collected. Sure theres no baf but the designs are fun, the figs sturdy and the accessories are insane. The only fig ive picked up thats stunk is omega. Its like the old mattel halo figs as he comes with armor parts that are clunky and is very movement prohibitive, doesn't stay on good and really drops the appeal of the fig. Im hoping that dark bomber, brite bomber, and a few other characters/ skins get released.

The quality control of late has been lacking, and this wave is definitely indicative of it. It feels like a “budget” release, which does make some sense in the context of how much they’ve spent this year on new figures/ sculpts. But then, the standard ought to be higher. Reviews are weird now, it feels like people are too excited to acknowledge any possible flaws the figures might have. Costume choice is always subjective, this is an instance where Hasbro can’t please everyone. It is weird that the quality in this particular wave varies so greatly. That said, I feel we can all agree on one thing: the stretchy fingers on Mr. Fantastic look really off-putting.

Very true. More-so even than subjectivity, there’s a conflation of fact and opinion. What I observe as a “consensus” is certainly subjective, as well as anecdotal. I think what’s difficult about the Fantastic Four is, they are needed to anchor a wave of related characters, and it would be weird if they only put one or two of them in a given wave. Generally, it makes sense to release all four at once. Thus only leaving you with two to three slots in the wave. This approach is logical, since the Fantastic Four will probably sell better than any of the mentioned villains. As a hardcore Marvel nerd, I sometimes forget that the casual buyer doesn’t need Crystal or Triton. So, I get excited for the ballsy/ esoteric releases (Alpha Flight), and understand that Wolverine is a necessary part of every X-Men wave.
