Why are they roasting it? Do they not know the source material? From my understanding, it's quite accurate to the books. Or are they just mad that Game of Thrones turned into such a shit show they don't want something superiror to get the attention?

It seems a lot of them are comparing it to GoT and/or dumping on it after only watching an episode or two. Cavill nails Geralt from a video game perspective. Spot on with the look, attitude, and sound of Geralt. The story arc for Yennifer looks intriguing after episode 3. A lot of gratuitous nudity, but even for the source material it’s tame. I love it so far, but hope the critics aren’t trying to do it in because of their lack of knowledge on the source material.

When I first started looking, they were pretty expensive. However, I believed they've dropped in price over the past year. The SWAT, Fireman, Red Cell and Terrorist command higher prices but I've managed to find them all at reasonable prices ($30 or less). It's just a matter of using ebay notifications and willingness to buy loose for the more rare figures. I've even managed to cobble together a complete SWAT figure by buying a loose SWAT figure with no accessories for 10 bucks and then later finding the SWAT accessories as part of custom fodder lot. Also, if you are searching regularly on ebay, include Resaurus Special Forces and Resaurus Emergency Forces in your search. I believe Resaurus produced these same figures before Plan B Toys.

I won't be able to watch it for a while, but one of my friends who is a Witcher nut is having a Witcher party today. And by nut, I mean he has bought every version of Witcher III on every console and has played through each one of them 3 times each. Anyway, his opinion of it will also determine if I watch it or not since he knows the franchise in and out.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, Rise of Skywalker is the movie equivalent to Seaosn 8. A rushed dumpster fire.

I haven't seen the show, but being accurate to the book is not the same thing as being good. See: Stephen King's TV version of the Shining where he had full control and made it more like the book vs. the Kubrick film. Not even close.

DarthKamen 12-21-2019 09:08 AM

I wanted to ask, what would be a good price to ask for a complete Apocalypse BAF, with the claw from Archangel?

That's because the movie was stretched out to be 3 episodes. However, Steven Weber was a far superior Jack Torrance than Jack Nicholson was. The same goes for Wendy, though a brick wall would have been better considering the Kubrick version cast Duvall as her.

Though, there are some aspects I do agree as I just got through the entire book version of IT and I'd say of the three versions, the two theatrical movies are by far the best version of the story. Yeah, there are a few things the book did I wish the movie had, but as a whole, the movies are better and cut out the 400 pages of fluff King had in his book (especially the sex scenes).

WIth that said, my friend said the show was fantastic. He is a little saddened he already went through the whole thing as he is now on his third viewing of it.

jwyss234 12-21-2019 03:37 PM

We officially have 10 days left in the year so I figure it's time for the top 10 of the year (mine at least). I've already received my Super Skull wave and the figures I wanted from the Demogoblin wave so I'll be including some of those in my list.

Honorable Mentions: Mystique and Storm

Top 10
10. Hercules
9. Scarlet Witch
8. 80th Colossus
7. 80th Thor
6. Shang-Chi
5. Avengers Endgame Worthy Captain America
4. Hulk (Grey She-Hulk)
3. Beast
2. Nightcrawler
1. Dr. Doom

Best BAF: Kingpin

Best 2 Pack/Multipack: 80th Hulk vs Wolverine

Best Exclusive: 80th Captain America (Walmart)

Overall, not a bad year for Legends. I debated putting Thing and Grey Hulk on my list but ultimately decided against it since both are retools/repaints. I also left off a lot of the 80th Anniversary figures for the same reason.

Where from? I'm still waiting for Pulse to get them in, you'd figure they'd be among the first since they are Hasbro.

I'm holding out to do my best of the year since we've still got ten days so it's possible I'll have Doom in time to include him.

I got my set from Dorkside.

I've always said the worst aspect of Kubrick's Shining is the fact that Jack Torrance was an asshole from the beginning, and therefore the tragedy was lost. Jack is supposed to be a guy with demons who genuinely loves his family.

Plus the black caretaker didn’t get killed by an ax in the back he got knocked out by a croquet mallet like in the TV miniseries

Okay. I only want Doom and by the time I saw pre-orders were up he was sold out at Dorkside so I just went with Pulse.

Well to be fair, Jack was always an abusive asshole, I just feel Weber actually showed his mental breakdown moreso than Nicholson did.

Back on topic, I'm not sure what my top ten will be, but I doubt I'll be counting Doom as a 2019 figure since I won't be getting him this year. Though, I can't even remember what figures I got this year anymore due to how many have come out. Was Mysterio this year? Or was he last year? Same goes for Silver Surfer?

You left out Alpha Flight under the store exclusives and I feel like catching anything and everything with the 80th banner as being under the 80th sub-line is too broad. A lot of figures and multipacks had the 80th ribbon on the box but were not priced and packaged as being part of the specific sub-line with the unifying black packaging. This includes: Agent Anti-Venom, War Machine Punisher, camo Punisher, stealth Iron Man, Big-Time Spidey, X-Force Deathlok, cowboy Logan, MCU Giant-Man, the Deadpool suits pack, the X-Factor 2 pack, and the X-Men 3 pack.

Boy Blunder 12-22-2019 03:14 AM

If you wanna do that level of hand-holding, be my guest. I was just giving a quick rundown - anything more detailed can be searched for starting from the info I gave.

And for the record, the Alpha Flight set has the 80th ribbon as well.

Dr Kain 12-22-2019 11:03 AM

lol I completely forgot who was in the Kingpin wave until I looked it up. This was not a good year for Spider-Man waves. I own Kingpin, Scorpion, Puma, and Silver Sable.

Anyway, I'll take a picture later, but I think my top 10 would be:

Nightcrawler
Colossus
Beast
Storm
Magneto
80th Captain America
80th Hulk
Kingpin
Gambit
Mr Sinister

As did the retro X-wave, the new vehicle packs, retro Deadpool, Grey Hulk, and the Family Matters pack. Hasbro got a bit slap-happy with the ribbon which definitely contributes to a sense of vagueness when sorting out what was and wasn't actually part of the 80th sub-line.

webz 12-22-2019 12:56 PM

Nightcrawler is definitely one of the best figures this year. He’s a beaut.

Archangel 12-22-2019 07:41 PM

My arbitrary top 10

10. Mr. Sinister
9. 80th Hulk
8. Nightcrawler
7. Mystique
6. Gambit
5. Beast
4. Worthy Cap
3. Ebony Maw
2. Storm
1. Prof X

BAFOTY: Kingpin

Boy Blunder 12-23-2019 01:29 PM

Anyone need a Quantum Suit Cap? Ended up with one at a raffle last night and I have no need for him. Sealed.

I've been kind of looking for one. How much are you looking for it?

Nicholson really just was himself. He's one of those actors, like DeNiro, who plays the same character over and over and over and I really can't tell a difference, other than name. Weber really seemed stressed and put-upon. Overall, I love both, but the tv show I like the acting better. Kubrick I like the atmosphere better. I agree with you on Wendy, however. Both were miscast. Duvall just seems as vapid as Nicholson seemed crazy, and every single review, commentary, and bulletin board post I saw said Rebecca DeMornay was WAAAAAY out of Steve Weber's league. She really wasn't credible as a wallflower mom.

Far From Home Mysterio was this year, as was Lizard Wave Mysterio, however I haven't seen him on shelves in quite a while. Don't recall seeing a silver surfer this year. Every year it gets harder and harder to remember what I got. Twice I found myself about to buy a figure I already bought but had forgotten.
