Outback Hulk? WTF? I guess it's to be expected that a lame looking game is going to have lame looking versions of characters.

As for Toy Fair, the only thing I want to see from Hasbro is First Appearance Storm. If that is the only figure they show, it would be the greatest Toy Fair either. Of course if they don't reveal it, then I'll be considering this Toy Fair a dud.

So we've seen the first images of Hasbro's GI Joe 6" line...

Anyone looking forward to Storm Shadow and other ninjas just to army-build some Hand forces?

ariellagunas 02-18-2020 11:25 AM

Amazing customs of Ms Locke, Moondragon and Thunderstrike, well done people!

If those Hasbro Pulse figures are simple re-paints, it will be dissapointing. Specially since there's a ton of important female characters still to do:

Tigra, Rachel Grey, Shadowcat, Lady Deathstrike and a comic Yelena need re-dos.

GS Storm, Marrow, Meggan, Callisto, Clea, Jocasta, Moondragon, Mantis, Marrina, Talisman, Crystal, Sersi, Thena, Lilith (both), Jolt, Morgan Le Fey, Selene, Magma, M, Syrin, heck even that copycat Feral, now that we have lots of X-force, need to be done to complete teams (or start).

Talking about organic writing, I'm reading Brubaker's Captain America, and it's feels as good as any movie I could watch. I certainly feel I'm getting my money worth out of MU.

Finally, GI Joe in six inches? What, Where?

I've already picked up a bunch of ninjas from the Articulated Icons line and tend to grab more whenever they go on sale...so I'm good. They joints feel weird at times, but otherwise, they're about as good as you can get.

If that Joe line takes off...It just might get me to quit Legends for good. That convention exclusive is pretty sweet. Thank goodness I detest Snake Eyes...otherwise I'd be flipping off my walls.

Someone got their hands on a Hasbro exclusive that fell off the truck...literally. Photos are circulating everywhere.

Hasbro hasn't even announced these yet...and judging the suspicious nature of the pics, I wonder if someone could find themselves in some legal doo doo if they are found by Hasbro, especially with the way they are posting about it so brazenly (including here on the Ark.)

I preordered Caliban wave Beast a year ago and today I was notified that my order had to be canceled due to Hasbro not fulfilling the order placed by the vendor. Is this common? I’ve had it happen twice with two different vendors. Sucks, now I have to pay scalping prices.

Ultra Seven 02-18-2020 02:03 PM

Here’s a wild rumor from Reddit with many far-fetched facets: https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelLegen...raight_legend/

Text for those not wanting to click through:

“So my local shop guy told me about his preorders for most of the year, a lot of stuff doesn’t have actual titles but his distributer gave him some information on what to expect

We are getting a Punisher van- no details on size or if a figure actually comes with it
Two more X-Men waves
5 total Deluxe figures. Venom, Black Widow movie line with stand.... “cough” new Kingpin “cough” and 2 secret ones
Either 2-3 retro waves no full details
A legit Spider-Man wave with a BAF
4 Exclusives date for June, August, October and November
3 Avengers waves (2 of which are Gamerverse)
A dud wave.. and a big wave .. so what happened here was, the distributer told him on one wave “You’re only gonna want one of these cause it won’t sell(watch Walmart keep it fully stocked lol) And one wave that he told him he should order heavy on.”

This is COMPLETELY unsubstantiated, so obviously any discussion is strictly conjecture. It certainly gives us a lot to consider pre-Toy Fair. It seems unrealistic, but so did the 80th Anniversary leak from last year.

Two more X-Men waves Second A0A wave and The Fox X-Men wave I'm guessing. I could hope for a standard non AOA wave though.

Wow that's a lot of great info. See the bold for my thoughts (if anyone cares to lol)

Ultra Seven 02-18-2020 04:20 PM

Here are my thoughts on the rumored list:

- Punisher van sounds sweet, also sounds completely inviable for mass retail. I am guessing either fan channel or convention exclusive.
- The two X-Men waves sounds like the other AOA wave and either the rumored Fox wave or a standard wave (fingers crossed).
- Surely one of the deluxe releases is a rerelease of Apocalypse, right? As for the other, no clue.
- The “two to three” retro waves gives creedence to the Spider-Man vintage wave, which is great news. An X-Men wave feels like a given, considering the seeming lack of a standard X-Men wave for the year. It could help to knock out a bunch of fan demands, like a rerelease of Rogue, or Banshee. The potential third could be an Iron Man wave, as Stall had expressed a desire to do one in a recent interview (I think it was at Fan Expo Canada), and we do have three rumored Iron Men. Maybe that’s where we’ll finally see War Machine, as well as some villains (Mandarin?).
- Spidey wave is exciting. I’m guessing Iron Spider or Spider-Armor for the obligatory Spider-Man variants, Firestar, Cardiac, and maybe a J. Jonah Jameson. For villains, I’d say Molten Man or Man-Wolf (probably a new Morbius somwhere). Stegron or a Spider-Slayer as the BAF.
- No idea on the exclusives. That could be virtually anything.
- Three Avengers waves is aggressive, but I’m here for it. If two are GamerVerse, I’d guess the third ties into the Disney+ shows. In terms of comics character selection, I’d guess Falcon, USAgent, Tigra, Baron Zemo, Count Nefaria, & Kang (among others, obviously). For BAFs, maybe Atlas and Mister Hyde, and possibly Hulk from the game?
- Dud wave is definitely Eternals, which hopefully just means “not marketable” not uncool. So, hopefully comics Eternals and weird-ass cosmic characters like the High Evolutionary or Moondragon (wishful thinking here).
- Of the rumored waves, this accounts for everything besides the Venom wave. That could be the “big one” the post mentions, but I don’t know who it could include. Perhaps Firestar is there.

Never thought I'd meet a Hulk that I wouldn't buy, but, yup, that one's a nonstarter...

Isn't Tull a British band?

In regards to the new leaks:

- I love the idea of a Punisher van. I'm curious to see what all accessories it'd come with.
- If classic Sandman or a repaint of the Kingpin are two of the Deluxe figures, I'll buy them, regardless of the $30 price tag.
- I'm curious to see what the other retro waves will be. I hope another retro X-Men wave will be one of them.
- So, does that mean the Spider-Man wave with the Build-A-Figure is the retro/vintage wave we've heard about, or is it a second non-retro wave?
- I'm not big on Exclusives, since Walgreens F.F. figures like the Thing were hard to find. Even so, I'm curious to see what the 4 Exclusive figures will be.
- I really, REALLY hope we're not getting two Gamerverse Avengers waves. I've never been hyped for the upcoming game, and after learning it's got an M rating and seeing the alternate suits, that hasn't changed. I hope we get to see the rumored Leader figure. I'd rather see comic figures for Wasp, Falcon, War Machine, U.S. Agent, or the Monica Rambeau Captain Marvel than Gamerverse versions of Captain America and Iron Man.
- I'm curious what the "dud wave" will be. I assume it's Eternals, but I've seen plenty of "dud wave" shelf-warming figures from Hasbro's Marvel toylines before.

Also, that new Outback Hulk... hoo boy. HARD PASS.

(Also, briefly off-topic: WHOA! Six inch G.I. Joes?!? Never thought I'd ever read that!)

After seeing the leaks for Hasbro's Marvel Legends and Power Rangers: Lightning Collection figures, I'm curious to see how much of the leaked info for their upcoming figures turns out to be true at New York Toy Fair.

Oh course, how could I forget that loveable loser, Eric. Quiet as kept, that Roger Stern/John Buscema/Tom Palmer run was IMO one of the very best periods of the Avengers. Right up there with the earlier Byrne and Perez runs (I forget who was writing those) and the much earlier initial Buscema run (I also can't recall the writer early on, either).

I'm not a big Avengers guy outside of those pockets in time, but those were some weighty and important stories. Under Seige alone saw friction between newly minted team chairwoman, Wasp, and ready made misogynist, Herc. Lol his stubbornness and unwillingness to accept her as team leader nearly got him killed and the Avengers destroyed. I love that story.

Modern Marvel should take note of that era if they value organic storytelling, sans the pedantic and sometimes ham-fisted stuff of today. Not everything is bad, but I don't walk away from stories with the same satisfaction I once did.

Anyway...I began reading just a bit earlier than your jump off point, circa 79-80.

I remember the first comics I bought were Avengers: West Coast #70, New Warriors #11

urrutiap 02-19-2020 02:48 AM

Outback Hulk looks like the caveman from the old 1980s movie House II

A teenaged family friend gave me a bunch of comics, so my first books were hand me downs. But the first comics I pulled off the stands were at the cusp of the transition from 40-50 cents: Rom 3, Power Man and Iron Fist 61, Moonknight 4, Xmen 138, Hulk 244, Defenders 80, and Iron Man 143.

Glad you are enjoying it! That period of the aughts marked a zenith for Marvel's modern era IMO. Nearly everything was banging then...

IMO, the best era of Marvel comic collecting. The prices were great & you had some of the best Writers/artists in history doing these titles, which back then, numbered in the low 40s if that, unlike today, where there is an oversaturation of titles & the vast majority suck. With $10, you came home with a stack of comics to read, now you may get 2 comics for that price. That's why my preferred era of ML figs tend to be 70s-80s costumes/looks.

SymbiSpidey 02-19-2020 10:15 AM

I think my big wants for ToyFair are going to be Classic Dr. Strange, Firestar, War Machine and Classic Falcon. And also just general rounding out of some of the X-Men teams we have that are close to completion.

I'd imagine Hasbro might sit on Classic Dr. Strange until his movie comes out next year though. Falcon should be coming fairly soon since I'm 99% sure they're going to reuse the wings from Vulture for him.

Yeah aside from the expected reveals (BAF for AOA wave 1 and some more of the X-Force wave, the Avengers game wave figures and teasers from the next Spider-Man wave) I really want to see Firestar, FA Storm, Classic comic Falcon and Excalibur Kitty Pryde. Those really need to get done this year.

Agreed, especially so on artists of that era. However, you're already aware of that because we spoke on it roughly a year ago...

The oversaturation argument, while interesting as an insight, I just don't know enough about the current landscape to say one way or the other. The 90's definitely featured a glut of titles...
