No just knockoffs quarterly. ;) heh heh. I finally put demogoblin together and i have to say it's a damn solid fig. Gotta be one of my fave figs next to doom and emma frost.

TheBlueMarvel 03-13-2020 01:19 PM

Finally, one that I like...cuz my being happy with your avatar is all that matters in life! ;)

edit: dammit, you changed it back to "pouty", "Partridge Family" Luke...

Yeah, Demogoblin is a satisfying senary retread of a body we've seen get healthy use.

Who knew the sixth time would be the charm?

*There was no sarcasm in the previous statement*

I just keep hoping for a Marco Scarlotti Blacklash/Whiplash to add to that group. And maybe (but doubtfully) a Hypnotia.

I'm working on a custom Hypnotia

Fantastic.

Despite the panic in the streets right now (no idea about in the disco), did a little more retail distraction with our "saved for a convention that's been postponed" money. Grabbed the Ends of the Earth Spider-Armor, Black-Costume Storm, and some DC figures (Multiverse Mera from Aquaman, Arkham Catwoman). Been a good couple of days to collect.

Man, I had the exact same thing happen. I was finally going to buy myself “Giant-Sized X-Men” 1#, and then they cancelled the con with less than a day’s notice (despite the people running the con pointing out that it was arguably less of a health hazard than the grocery store). Spent some of that money on figures at my LCS instead, filled some holes in my DCUC collection, and bought the second Marvel Legends vintage wave.

Captain Nash 03-14-2020 12:30 PM

All this talk of cons being cancelled makes me worried about SDCC. I know it's four months out but still....UGH!

Four months is a long time out. These measures are being taken now to stem the spread of things so that we don't have to worry about further out.

As do I. I'm sure they(Hasbro)have been working on the exclusive. I would hate to miss out on what ever it is.

And just for the record...I went to five stores yesterday to get just basic necessities for the fam..." It's a mad house..A MAD HOUSE!!"

My buddy works at a Wegman’s, he told me the store is literally dry right now. They sold everything. That’s unprecedented!

TheBlueMarvel 03-14-2020 02:42 PM

Generally speaking, there are more important things than toys and conventions.

Billion dollar entertainment organizations (NBA, NHL, NCAA, NASCAR, Country Music Festivals, etc) wouldn't be turning down MONEY if the "pandemic" didn't represent a real threat. Contrary to the belief of some, they are actually doing the responsible thing to stymie transmission. This isn't indicative of panic, but rather the prudent behavior of industries/civilizations that realize you can't really sell shit to dead people.

That’s a level-headed and accurate assessment of the situation. I’m actually impressed with the initiative corporations are taking, although I am upset at the news media for fear-mongering (as they always do), because I feel it has exacerbated the situation drastically. With that said, everything that is being done is FRUSTRATING, if not totally necessary. I will express irritance at the inconvenience because it is just that: inconvenient. In terms of bitching about first-world problems: I can’t get near a Target right now to find Red Hulk. How’ve folks done with getting ahold of ol’ Thunderbolt? I see this becoming one of the more elusive Marvel Legends releases.

The actions taken by corporations are appreciated, while not entirely surprising; they've been working the repercussions of global climate change and resultant pandemics into their economic models for almost 40 years (seriously). However, I'll stop short of connoting any altruism to them as these measures are more about business and PR than any genuine regard for the populace, in my cynical opinion.

I agree that there is a definitively hyperbolic nature to the coverage, but what's been far more damaging, especially to the markets, is the bungling and rank incompetence of a POTUS so obviously out of his depth. They actually had to halt trading because this dude can't stay on what amounts to a very simply message: "don't panic, we are doing X, Y, and Z to keep you safe." That had nothing to with the media and was all his own doing.

All that said, overreacting to a contagion is really what a society wants to do, if only to buttress efforts to halt the spread of infection. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Cliches are cliches for a reason.

That's just funny. "Meme'ing" should be a legitimate job skill...

Yet another example of a movie that doesn't need a remake...they nailed it off the top.

Archangel 03-14-2020 10:29 PM

If anyone has an Iron Patriot for trade, hit me up. I’m absolutely shocked that he’s so scarce. That entire wave was just passed me by. I’ve got some equally scarce figures for trade.

Boy Blunder 03-15-2020 12:53 PM

Another find today, got myself a Deluxe Black Widow at Target

SymbiSpidey 03-15-2020 01:19 PM

So there's been some more minor leaks via Marvelous News:

It seems the Pyro/Rogue 2-pack will be movie-based (lame).

With the retro Spider-Man wave, we got extra confirmation that the assortment will be Peter Parker, Classic Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy, Electro, Armored Daredevil and Green Goblin. Supposedly, each figure will come with at least an alternate head. I'm assuming that means Norman Osborn head for Green Goblin, Matt Murdock head for Daredevil and idk, I'm assuming a neutral or angry headsculpt for Electro (I'd imagine they'll reuse the smiling Electro head from the original figure).
