It seems the Pyro/Rogue 2-pack will be movie-based (lame).

I called it...

I'll take anything FoX-Men related that they'll give us. Pyro was actually one of the better characters in the original films, so I'm actually looking forward to that if it pans out. All I'm curious about is whether or not it will be his Brotherhood look from X-3...or the civilian wear from X-2.

Same with Rogue...we got a figure of her in the leather jumpsuit with the old Toybiz line...I wonder if we'll see that one or something more civilian looking?

StuartGreen2019 03-15-2020 02:11 PM

While I am disappointed Daredevil is armored instead of a new classic red suit, I'm thrilled we're getting classic Electro. He was long overdue. I guess the alternate head will be an unmasked Max Dillon head? Also, I hope we get to see a classic Norman Osborn head for Green Goblin and that they don't skip the Goblin glider. I have no idea if they'll include a pumpkin bomb or not.

As for the Rogue and Pyro two-pack news, I can't help being disappointed it's not a classic comic suit Pyro and a Jim Lee Rogue re-release. Maybe Hasbro will make those down the line? For this news, I'm curious which version of Rogue it'll be, civilian or her X-uniform from X2 or X3. I'm surprised she's included with Pyro instead of Iceman. Fingers crossed this means we get more X-Men movie 20th anniversary figures. Original trilogy suit Magneto, 'X-Men' 1 Storm, 'X2' Cyclops, X-suit Jean Grey, 'X2' Nightcrawler, 'Last Stand' Shadowcat, 'Last Stand' Colossus, 'Days of Future Past' Quicksilver, 'Days of Future Past' Bishop, and 'Apocalypse' Psylocke, please!

You requested a Last Stand Shadowcat, and not a X2 Lady Deathstrike.

I can't take anything you say seriously... 🤨

StuartGreen2019 03-15-2020 02:30 PM

I knew there was one I forgot to mention! Lady Deathstrike is a must. Thank you for calling me out on my temporary insanity, @Trivial Psychic. I still can't believe Toy Biz didn't make a figure for her when 'X2' came out. Then again, those figures were hard to find at the time, so I probably would never have found her anyway. The figures for Iceman, Magneto and trenchcoat Cyclops remain ridiculously over-priced. Also, a two-pack of Colonel Stryker and his son Jason would be perfect. 'Days of Future Past' Blink would be great too.

Dr Kain 03-15-2020 02:59 PM

With my recent financial situation that has occurred thanks to the virus, I'm only going to be able to get one of those upcoming Black Widows, so I think I'll go with the Walmart one.

urrutiap 03-15-2020 03:27 PM

Are you sure about that, SymbiSpidey?

Im looking at the Marvelous News website right now and the X-Men Legends 2 pack does not say anything movie related.

THey are saying Modern Rogue and a photo of old classic Pyro.

urrutiap 03-15-2020 03:28 PM

So where the hell are YOU getting your wrong information SymbiSpidey?

MeLikeJinx 03-15-2020 03:37 PM

^ It seems like the official Spanish distributor for Hasbro is saying they are from the X-men movie in its official description of the Rogue/Pyro 2 pack. That's what I read over at Fwoosh in the Leaks thread anyway.

And yes! I actually found a Doctor Doom at Walmart. The strange thing for me is I don't even like Fantastic Four, but somehow have gotten the whole team (Walgreens versions) and Silver Surfer and Doom.

tierneygreen 03-15-2020 03:38 PM

According to the report, Storm/Thunderbird "...should be a Target exclusive here in the US."

Fudge!

Seriously. Even running it through Google translate, the listing specifically calls out the X-Men movies. (The keyword good ne was seeing the word "peliculas", Spanish for "movies".)

Use all the resources at your disposal before calling someone else out, hoss.

(Also don't take MarvelousNews' word straight. A number of their articles have had wrong names or incomplete information, even when the complete info is copy-pasted from the source)

sh002 03-15-2020 04:41 PM

An X2 Wolverine vs Lady Deathstrike 2 pack would be a definite buy from me.

Captain Morgan 03-15-2020 04:51 PM

Finally found a Red Hulk on the Target app my local Target had so I did the store pick up so when I went to pick it up I went back to the toy section just to look and they had one on the shelf so I picked it up just in case. Then I went to the pick up booth and the lady brought me the one I bought on the app. So now I have 2 Red Hulks one to open and one to keep in the box.

Storm being Target exclusive was in Hasbro's Toy Fair panel.

A movie version of Pyro would be utterly pointless as it would just be some generic white guy in a boring blue jacket with blue pants who looks angry (or constipated). He might as well just be repacked with movie Ant-Man Luis.

StuartGreen2019 03-15-2020 11:08 PM

I read on ToyArk in an interview with the Hasbro Marvel Legends team from two weeks ago that, in regards to the Fox X-Men figures, they said, and I'm quoting, "Can't speak beyond what was shown. Who knows what the future holds, if it's a hit and Marvel likes it they can do more. Don't have it all mapped out yet. Tried for Cyclops in the black leather for this year but couldn't get it in. If the demand from fans is there, they can shift things around."

Sadly, I'm not surprised. Cyclops was under-used in the Fox X-Men films, so having other characters made into figures instead of Cyclops isn't too big of a shock. I'd love to see them continue and make more X-Men movie figures.

The same could be said of several MCU figures that we've received over the last few years. Take the Defenders box set for example. Luke Cage was just a "generic" black dude in a red or yellow t-shirt and jeans. Colleen Wing was a "generic" asian woman in a track suit and sneakers. The only character who had a costume out of the set in fact was Daredevil. The figures all turned out great however, and were much appreciated and needed additions to our shelves.

We've also received a bunch of other generic looking MCU related figures that we simply can't imagine not having, but I blame that to the MCU's rather lackluster design schemes, rather than the toy or character themselves. I swear...when Galactus finally shows up in the films, he's going to be wearing a collared shirt, dress slacks and a hoodie...but at least it won't be a purple cloud, which will be have nerds rejoicing in the aisles praising Disney can do no wrong.

Well to be fair, Luke Cage's yellow shirt and Colleen Wing's white tracksuit are pretty distinct looks for the characters.

There's nothing really visually interesting about Pyro, which would be alright, except Pyro was only ever really a supporting character in the X-movies and a minor villain in X3. If you didn't put his name on the box, I don't think the casual passerby in the toy aisle would even recognize him.

Luke Cage is the exception though because that is his costume from the comics.

However, Pyro wears a red and yellow costume in the comics with goggles, a flame pack, etc. If they're going to do Pyro, it needs to be a comic one. The X-Men movies just totally missed the point in that aspect.

Nah, they'll do Galactus right like they did with Thanos. However, I also am sick of these business suited super villains. Even DC has been doing the same crap with their CW shows. Instead of getting Mirror Master in a yellow and green costume, he's in a black business suit with a tie. That's not Mirror Master, that's just some hipster stealing the name Mirror Master.

The CW shows have some serious budget issues at times to the point where I think they are often forced to cut a lot of corners on things like that. You can see a lot of 'problematic' CG, reused CG, lackluster costume design, etc as they make Superhero shows on a budget. Plus they're hindered by the DC movie division's planning, which I believe has a Flash movie coming out soon so the CW side was likely forced to differentiate their incarnation like they're repeatedly forced to do with all the other characters.
Basically, it's a mess for them.

Though on the Marvel side, considering the comic Mandarin revamp was just a guy in a well-tailored suit, you might get that in the MCU. They tend to go with a more realistic/practical approach to superhero outfits in the MCU with some exceptions. I know some people complained about MCU Batroc and more recently MCU Taskmaster's designs but they seemed less like the old X-men film disdain for comic outfits and more like a way to get the character's outfit to seem like something someone would realistically wear in combat. It doesn't make for great toys but it does result in some interesting incarnations like The Vulture (which IMO resulted in a great toy too) .

...I'm sorry, what.

Sure, he looked like the world's most shredded California Raisin, but I wouldn't count that as "doing him right".

Dolemite 03-16-2020 09:53 AM

The new movie Taskmaster figure is going for $40-$60 on evilbay, but Amazon pre-orders are only $19.99 with free Prime shipping. I'm normally psycho about paint and need multiple pics of the exact figure before I buy, but every Taskmaster I've seen on ebay so far looks immaculate in terms of paint - plus he has goggles so I don't have to worry about taking a chance on derpy eyes - so I'm going with Amazon this time and saving a bundle.

Spymaster, however, is instantly a budget figure. You can nab him on ebay for retail-or-less prices with shipping included. I know he's not a figure that a lot of people are clamoring for, but I personally dig him so this is good news for me.

IDK, I'd say I've generally been pretty happy with the MCU redesigns for various villains. They look practical but aren't totally devoid of color like many of the Fox X-Men stuff.
